Toots - hun, hugs with your dilemma. But, do you REALLY want to go? It seems to me you don't - besides the expense etc. etc. Would you actually enjoy it if you went? You say you'd be flying down - does that mean you'd have to stop overnight - or dash away to catch a flight back then get home really late? Potentially more expense with hotels, in company that you don't seem to like - and that you have worked so hard to distance yourself from. She's not called toxic for nothing.
If I were you I would consider this:As life is all too short and us flyladies are striving hard to declutter our lives, do I want to spend potentially two days out of my life, in a strange place miles from home, in the company of Toxic (and others I'm not particularly fond of) who I've been trying to declutter from my life and spending money to do it that I probably can't afford? What better fun could I be having if I didn't go?I'm sure you could come up with a suitable excuse not to go (hospital appointment perhaps? Prior engagement?) but could send a card and a small Debenhams voucher or something..I am the leading lady in the movie of my life
