Glad dad doing well & car is great :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Good to hear the swing to more positive attributes now which I am sure will help you feel much better. Economy sounds good on the new car, but do take care with the fuel gauge as some cars (Ford) have a gauge which barely moves for the first 1/4 of the consumption then drops thereafter. Keep an eye on the remaining range and fill up at 1/4 tank.
You could start to check the true economy in a spreadsheet to see if the in-car read-out is close? In my case my sheet also indicates how much further before the next service is due.

Me again!
Now I know this is very sad but i'm going to share with you anyway! I have bought most of my Christmas pressys! There have been loads of fab things on the 'Quick Grab it' threads and I have managed to get some lovely items for next to nothing! Amongst my bargains; Got some fab shirts from Debenhams sale, really nice quality.:j I managed to get a DS game and a Wii game for zilch..yep actually with the cash back I have made money on them! On the quick grap it board someone mentioned a company selling books, gives a £5 discount and if you go through Quidco you get a further £5 cashback. They don't just sell books though, games, electricals etc. Also got some lovely woollen wraps for the older ladies!!:p
Just got to get something for hubby and 11 year old neice:eek:
I really must get to grips with the saving/spendings as with the 'new' car things have gone a little off track!

Back again!
I feel the need for a little weekly challenge! This is a tough one for me.....no wine Sunday - Thursday:eek: Actually I could cheat on that one, so best make it no alcohol at all Sunday - Thursday. As those of you that read my ramblings are probably aware I like my wine, if it's red I will have a couple of glasses per night and white I could polish off a bottle:eek: I know thats terrible which is why I try to stick to red:o
I am currently resting my back with a large cup of tea and a kitkat!
I still havn't braved the savings pots so no update at present, however I have been good and altered my regular savers to enable me to pay my 0% 12 month 'car loan'. I managed to pay half with the part exchange on my old car and a credit card deposit (that will need paying off by the end of the month:eek:) I was happy to pay like that as I get points for spending on my card and it meant I didn't have to juggle money quickly. With a 50% deposit as I have mentioned they then let me have the other 50% on interest free credit......at almost £500 per month its a big find; hence the altering of one of the regular savers (well one of mine and one of hubbies - he married me, he will have to help pay:rotfl:)
What does everyone else do about joint accounts? We have individual current accounts then a joint account that we both pay into that all the household bills come out from. All our savings are in individual names but I know if huuby needs cash or vice versa we just move it from one to another.......actually that all sound ar*e over t*t but it suits us. I wouldn't want to take money out of our joint account to buy him a birthday pressy...but would be happy for him to transfer money from his account into mine if I was left short. Yep it's offical i'm nuts, I've read that back and its bonkers!
Hubby earns significantly more than I do and gets a bonus once a year (we never rely on this but if it happens its a nice bonus!) Funny enough if the NHS no matter how hard you work or how many hours you put it the pay stays the same:rotfl:. I'm not really moaning about my job there are lots of benefits to it......like getting mileage expenses 6 months after submitting them:rotfl: No, joking apart the pension is good, somethings hubby is sadly lacking. He does have a pension but it appears to be a little rubbish. The problem is I don't understand pensions and i'm the one with the financial brain:cool:
Right my cup of tea is getting cold, kitkat remains all over keyboard, its time to exit for a while.

:DHi TPA,
I hope your back improves if not definitely go to a chiropractor, it's the best thing I ever did!
I went on that website too and managed to get my dd a birthday prezzie (game for the wii) for £1.99 after the cashback/discount.:money:
R.e. joint accounts, we have always had a joint account and have some saving accounts that we both have access to too. We're not that bothered about hiding cost of presents etc but if he wanted to save for a surprise (ha, no chance of that happening!) then he could take out money no problem. He doesn't spend much really I do the finances and he just plays along and shows an interest when I say no you can't have any money until payday!
Tea sounds good...putting kettle on0
