  • I made this a couple of weeks ago (substituting vegan creme fraiche and Cheezly for the dairy versions) and it was excellent. Added some sauteed onion and garlic. Best and easiest scalloped potatoes I've ever made.

I want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.

It's one of the ingredients I use to make a Balti sauce. It's also good with smoked salmon trimmings and peas mixed in and then either put inside a tortilla wrap or stirred through pasta.

  • It usually has quite a long shelf life (longer than ordinary cream), so don't panic.

One of my favourite things to do with it is spread a dollop on a water biscuit and top with some kind of preserve like crab apple jelly -a couple of these make a nice pud ;)
  • Creme Freche is great for making a home made Carbonara sauce.

  • I make a pork or chicken with 3 mustard sauce with creme fraiche.

Fry off pork or chicken and mushrooms then dash some white wine or water in the pan and then add creme fraiche mixed with tsp each of english/dijon/grain mustards and prunes. Very nice with basmati and green beans.
Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

i dont know, JCR but look on the lid. I bought a huge one from waitrose on thursday & the date is for middle of december on it.

Last night I used it to make my first ever fish pie :j It was really really lovely.
    my recipe
peeled sliced pots ( par boiled for 10mins v low heat then ovened in a roasting tin to crisp a bit)
2 fish fillets ( I used frozen hake)
    one leek
    2x handfuls frozen peas
1/3 pint milk & creme fraiche.

Slice leeks and sautee in tiny amount of butter then add 1/3 pint milk on electric setting hob 4. Place defrosted on top of the leeks & poach in the leky milky goodness till the flakes start coming off the fillet with a fork, add peas. With fork, seperate the fish fillets into chunks
Stir into the milk 3x tablespoons creme fraiche to thicken it off a bit
    Simmer for 10 mins
Using a perforated spoon drain leeks & fish & peas out of pan into lasagne dish
and use the sauce from the pan. Stir in a bit more C fraiche if you fancied.
    then season
lay potatoes on the top bake for 10mins
    Serve

    I also use it -
instead of sour cream for mexican food
for mustard based sauces for chicken
mushroom sauces for meat, or pasta
    dollop on top of chilli
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Why did i by this?

It jumped out at me in the supermarket & I bought because of something i read on here.

Now what was it? Any Ideas?
