Because there's all those great Mac games...

You can get Eve on the Mac. Sorry, I'll just go and put my anorak on, wander off and go and get a life ;)

I'm willing to bet there are more games available for the Mac than you think.

Regarding Games, play sell 62 games for the Mac. Their 'adventure' section alone lists 348 for the PC. To be honest 62 games is more than I expected for the Mac.

Regarding iLife,Vista is far better than XP in terms of the built in media tools.

It includes Windows DVD maker which is OK but basic, the latst version of Movie Maker is very good, Photo Galley is pretty good although it could do with a bit more control when importing pictures.

I do think it's one area where Microsoft need to do some work though. There are plenty of good free alternatives though.
It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

    And to make it fair....

to be fair? no... if you're comparing, you compare like for like...

so... lets have a look at the manufacturers who make ALL IN ONE computers, which is what an iMac actually is.. not just some box on the side with wires to a monitor..

    Sony - Vaio VGC-LN1M - 20.1" AIO Computer.

So, for a bit more money, on the sony you get a blu ray drive, a larger hard drive, a slower processor, and a digital tv tuner.

and on the dell, a bit more money gives you the same ram, bigger hard drive, lower graphics, slowly processor, but a tv tuner..

and with the mac, you get more software, a built in web camera, and bluetooth. Along with an operating system that lets you run Vista, Linux, and Mac OS X, all, theoretically at the same time!

Like for Like comparisons prove that macs are NOT overpriced... c'mon.. stop comparing an all in one design, with a computer that is in a huge box.

    A:I, ringo_24601, et al,

Have any of you ever tried scuba diving off a coral reef, tobogganing down the Cresta Run, following the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, flying a helicopter through the Grand Canyon, barefoot water-skiing before breakfast, driving the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, riding a wave at Waimea Bay... (we'd better spare anewhope any suggestion of libidinous activity that might get him reaching for the smelling salts and the comfort of his Microsoft EULA)... or actually doing anything like that for real?

Or do you, instead, spend your leisure time playing fantasy games with a plastic box and getting excited by computer code error messages?

Take no offence; I'm just curious to know. :)

Macs are for people who prefer to spend their computer time doing constructive things in the real world.

To those for whom Macs appeal, a "gaming machine" is the saddest thing in the universe.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Since my vocation is "getting excited by computer code error messages" as you put it then yes, I have been spending the majority of my time doing just that. No smelling salts or other Walter Mitty fantasies you concoct are necessary..
  • What I find very interesting is just how personally people defend their computer platform. I use to be very much like this with my old Amiga 500 vs the evil Ataris...but i was 14

Personally, i spend most of my working life writing a proprietary programming language on hopsital mainframes, so all I need in life is Vi and a command line. So I choose option 4 - IBM AIX box.

So apple fan boys, go and put on your turtleneck and go talk to your 'Genius' helper friends

I use windows on the desktop and Mandriva Linux on the laptop (much quicker than vista and the first variant I tried which worked with my grfx card and wifi out of the box.

I'd like a macbook but they are just stupidly expensive.
