    B*llocks.

Hopefully it will be cheaper to attend matches when we're in the Championship.

may be a daft question, but why is it called the toon?

  • I read this and thought of you. I'm not sure where it was posted originally, but I've got it off my football team's website: I thought it was amusing!!

NEWCASTLE United fans brushed off yesterday's defeat by Spurs insisting they have a fool-proof scheme to guarantee the club a place in next season's top flight.

With Sir Alan Shearer's team now firmly in the relegation zone, United fans have drawn-up plans to pretend the Championship is now the Premier League.

Shearer has backed the idea stressing that even if the club was to plummet to mid-table in the Conference North, the supporters would still be making travel arrangements for a lengthy Uefa Cup run.

Bill McKay, assistant secretary of the Toon Army supporters club, said: "Ipswich play in blue so they can be Chelsea or Everton.

"We'll have at least one of the Sheffields and no-one's ever entirely sure what league they're in, Derby can be Fulham and we could even pretend Coventry are still a proper football team

"Meanwhile Bristol City will from now on be known as Arsenal, Barnsley can pass for Man Utd if you squint hard enough and Notts Forest should make a perfectly decent Liverpool.

"And just like the old days we won't have to play small teams like Wigan, Stoke, Bolton, Portsmouth and Hull, so we can pretend they're still in the old second division."

United fan Tom Logan added: "Newcastle have the best fans in the Premier League, as anybody who watches Sky Sports knows. So we can't be relegated, otherwise we can't be the best fans in the Premier League. Right? Right? Please say that's right."

I think it's called the Toon instead of the town because of the lovely Geordie accent :D

Didn't find Primark so no retail therapy - it's for the best I'm sure!

I got loads of bargains today at the supermarket (All posted in the May Grocery Challenge if anyone's interested) I had no room in the freezer for the gammon joint I bought, so I am going to cook it in the slow cooker with cola tomorrow.

Can I please have instructions on how best to do this? Also, OH thinks this sounds revolting, can anyone who has done this please let me know how it turned out and what it tasted closest to? I need to convert him!

I have done this twice now and just quartered a couple of onions, put them in the bottom of the slow cooker, washed the gammon, popped it in on top of the onions, and then covered the whole thing in coke (not diet though), and I stuck it on low for probably about 8 or 10 hours, then I took it out and left it to cool and we had it cold. It was really tasty, I cannot describe it, just a tasty bit of ham. You can glaze it and put in the oven for 20 or 30 mins but I had no time for that. Enjoy!

    Morning folks!

Ham is in the slow cooker now so hopefully it will be tasty when it's done. I only had a small bottle of coke, but this should work *crosses fingers* At the end of the day surely cooked ham is cooked ham :D

Not got a lot else to do today - off to get ready for work shortly. We can view our payslips online from work, so I'm hoping that I will be able to print mine off and do some budgeteering when I come home. My wage rise should be through too so it will be good to see what that is :T

Apart from that, I'm going to be seeing if I can womble the Morrisons vouchers from the Sun newspapers of people I work with. I don't buy newspapers, but will make an exception to get these vouchers. I won't need one for this week I don't think, but soon it will be time to buy more bl**dy catfood so I may as well do it when I can get some money off.

    Right, to the shower!

Just finished it, had chips and peas with it.

I really liked it, and thought that having it cooking in cola all day added sweetness to the ham. My flatmate is now calling it "Coked-Up Ham" :D

OH wasn't too convinced - ham was nice but the aftertaste wasn't his favourite. I think that if he didn't know it was cooked in cola he wouldn't have complained!
