Flying gleefully into 2009 - One Fresians adventures in debt-busting

Evening all!
Dinner was yummy - lamb chops in the slow cooker are just so tender and moist and tasty. *drools*
Update on the toothache - better than it was before I went to the dentist, and will hopefully keep improving. To be honest, I'm now so certain that I don't want toothache again that I'm going to be a grown up and get all the fillings I need and try not to cry. (I nearly cried when she said "root canal" this time and was mortified by my reaction!) I'm still keeping my painkillers close to hand though just in case. I need to get them to amend my receipt for claiming the money back from my dental insurance though - they have spelled my fairly common Scottish surname in a way which makes me look Scandinavian :rotfl: I don't want my claim rejected!
I'm just about to go and clean the kitchen, including the slow cooker as tomorrow morning I'm making "Chili a la tomtombeanie" as it was so nice the last time I made it! We have a friend visiting who would happily eat all the food in the house, so this time I will have a vat of chili ready and waiting for him :rotfl:
Not a lot else to report really. I spent nearly £6 on pens today, because I hate biros with a passion and love a certain brand of pen. I really need to get a grip! I will use them all the time at work though, and it's such a small amount it wasn't really a big deal to treat myself in a small way like that. If it had taken me over my Weekly Spend Challenge budget that would be a different matter!
I feel like I have been doing nothing but moaning about teeth recently. What is everyone else up to? What is your news?

hi all! somewhat briefly (having consumed some wine
), i have had a mad 2 days, with a broken car (leaking fuel everywhere ), a 4 year olds birthday party (complete with seven 4 year old guests ), being told by an hsbc phone person that my bank account was 1000 overdrawn  after being unable to make a cash point withdrawal, finding out that it actually wasn't
, panicing for about an hour inbetween that my cheque to the lovely builder would bounce , finding out that a cheque to me for 5000 that i deposited HAS bounced  - hence the wine
. tomorrow should be more straightforward (she says, hopefully...). enjoy your chili. i dare not use the slow cooker here until the dust has settled...tea tonight: wine
and chips

Morning all!
Chili is in the slow cooker, smelling nomarific already! I have added a handful and a half of porridge oats this time to try and make sure there is enough tonight for me, two hungry blokes and to put a couple of portions in the freezer
Tomorrow I think I'm going to try the slow cooked ham with cola thing, I just need to remember to buy cola!
I woke up this morning at 2am, 3am (I think I was grinding my teeth in my sleep as the sore one was aching and I had to get up and find painkillers) 5am and finally gave up on sleep at 6am. Early night for me I think!
Forecast for Newcastle on Saturday is heavy rain  so I'm looking for cheap and cheerful places to wander around in after the match!
Hope everyone is well!

Morning F_F
Just to say, £6 on something you need is good not bad, even if you could have got a cheaper version, it's not that much cheaper and if it cheers you up after your toothache, it's more than worth it... (thats what you'd say to me anyway)

Tomtom, i love the edit on your post (which doesn't show on the quote).
Will you be able to get that £5000 that has bounced? What a crazy couple of days you've had!
F_f - hope you get an early night and sleep wellOne step at a time0 -
hope your day has been better than your night's sleep was!
all is well again in tomtom towers...bank nightmare has been sorted, my cheque was from my aunty - on behalf of my dad/grandad - who (bless her!) went into her bank today to blast them (apparently they didn't think it was her signature on the cheque so wouldn't pay it)and then into my bank to deposit cash instead. so that's good. i've had another tedious conversation with yet another hsbc call centre drone (and i say that sympathetically - i used to be one for a water company!) who assured me all is fine, and i have successfully withdrawn money from the cashpoint, so it looks like it really IS okay (i never really have confidence in call centre people, most of them don't sound like they know what they are on about!)
also good news about the car - the garage said the RAC man has mended the problem so well that they don't need to do any further repairs. so cost to me was the price of a single fare home on the bus from the garage this morning! just need to collect it later. :j
new room now being plastered to within an inch of it's life - the end is in sight!
so i just need a little lie down now after all the drama! hope everyone else having a good day. i'll send a little message up to the weather gods to ask for a dry weekend in n'castle for you, fresian!:D xxMortgage free as of 11/11/15 !

Toothache is back and worse than ever. Have spent the last few hours in severe pain. Dentists couldn't give me an emergency appointment "You have left it late in the day to phone Ms Fresian" If I said what I thought of that comment at this point, I think I would be banned from MSE. It didn't hurt that badly early in the day...
Anyway, one phonecall the the out of hours service later, and I got a lovely woman filled with sympathy on the phone and have an appointment at the dental hospital at ten past seven.
At this point I don't care what they do to me, I just want the pain to stop. Or to be given quantities of painkillers that would allow me to go to the football on Saturday because if I feel this sh*t I'm going nowhere
