    Hi f_f

Well you have been a busy bee, unlike me - I have had a lazy day, well shopping in the morning, then a lazy afternoon and a nice easy M&S dine for 2 deal for a tenner, first time I have got that and the total price would have been over £18 so it was fab for a tenner, and there is salad left over and a whole bottle of £6.49 wine unopened! :T

Good on you getting 2 dresses for £35, enjoy your evening out, you deserve it.

Dress Number 1 goes back tomorrow - when I tried them both on OH said that Dress Number 2 was better as it was "less curtainy". No curtain-dresses for me :rotfl: Dress 2 got the thumbs-up from The Gays though, so all is well :D We didn't stay long at the reception, but had a lovely time laughing at people trying to do ceilidh dancing. The grooms looked lovely as well, all bekilted and in love. W00t to them. Not at all jealous. Nope, not me :A

Grand total spent tonight - £15.90. £2.90 for drinks at the reception and £13 for dinner for two. Tomorrow the Weekly Spend Challenge begins anew :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a lovely night, tomorrow I think I might venture to M&S for Dine In Funtimes...

    Morning all!

    Plans for the day:

    • Do much washing as the sun is shining and it would be good to be able to close the lid of the washing basket again - it does make me feel worthy :A
    • Return "curtains dress" to Dotty Ps
    • See if I can pick up some reduced bargains in M&S this afternoon
    • Go through my receipts for budgeteering
    • Start clearing out Cupboard of Doom
    • Go to centre of town as there is a Spa In The City event - free beauty treatments for all :D There will be goody bags (Yay!) and as I need my eyebrows done I am going in the hope that they are doing this :rotfl:
I think I got Primula and Palema mixed up last night - I meant to send info to one of you about the Spa Day but couldn't remember which one lived in Edinburgh, so sorry about that!

Also, for you neutral footie fans, today is the day that Newcastle are playing for Premiership survival. If you're not supporting one of the other [strike]sh*tty teams[/strike] relegation teams, can you please say a prayer at 4pm.

WHOOPS!!! Looks like a year of misery ahead for you then!!! It could be worse, not only did God make me fat, but he made me a Bradford City supporter. We went from the Premier league to the bottom division in six years :rotfl: , at least you're likely to be back up again next Season.

Hi FF - I say book up and go to them all - you need to enjoy life too, so why not? After all, if we spend all our time scrimping and saving we have to have treats to remind us why we're doing it and encourage us to keep going... (well, that's my tuppence worth anyway ;):rotfl:) and it will give you something to save for too as it's not till August.
Have a lovely time seeing Skunk Anansie won't you...:j

    • [strike]Do much washing as the sun is shining and it would be good to be able to close the lid of the washing basket again - it does make me feel worthy [/strike]:A Three loads done, hung out for that "line dried" smell and folded. Not put away in drawers yet, the reasons for which will soon become clear!
    • [strike]Return "curtains dress" to Dotty Ps[/strike] Done! My credit card has barely cooled after the purchase and it's returned already!
    • [strike]See if I can pick up some reduced bargains in M&S this afternoon[/strike] Half price bread and tatties in M&S, cheap buns and kievs in Morrisons, huzzah!
    • [strike]Go through my receipts for budgeteering[/strike] Grocery Challenge updated, need to go and confess my sins on the Crazy Clothes Challenge. I am going to fail that one this year I think!
    • [strike][Start clearing out Cupboard of Doom[/strike] Two rubbish bags full, and there is still more Doom to be cleared!
    • [strike]Go to centre of town as there is a Spa In The City event - free beauty treatments for all[/strike] :D There will be goody bags (Yay!) and as I need my eyebrows done I am going in the hope that they are doing this :rotfl:Eyebrows are still very 80s Revival, the queue was really long and I was on my own, so didn't bother waiting. I went to Waterstones instead and bought £30 of books. Bad Fresian.
I think I got Primula and Palema mixed up last night - I meant to send info to one of you about the Spa Day but couldn't remember which one lived in Edinburgh, so sorry about that! Yup, got that wrong, sorry guys!
    Evening all,

'Tis sad times in Fresian Towers with the sad demise of the Toon to the Championship. They have played like a bunch of !!!!!!!g muppets all season though, so we didn't really deserve to stay up. I just hope we don't do a Leeds.... Mr Fresian has been a lot better about it than I expected, I think he was resigned to their fate after the God-awful match we attended the other week. C'est la vie and all that, we will come back bigger and better! I am looking forward to some Championship chat with Silaqui though :D

I've been quite good today (Not in terms of spends, the £30 of books I bought today has already ruled me out of the Weekly Spend Challenge on the 1st day!) as I have cleaned out the hall cupboard (To a point) I can now reach the coats which are hanging up in there and wouldn't lose one of the cats if they strayed in there.

I was getting quite annoyed with the little sods earlier. They each have their own cat carrier which only comes out when they have to go to the vets. Last time they had to go, Bert refused to get in it. Even when I picked him up and tried to drop him in the hatch on top, he splayed his little kitty legs out and had to be tricked into the damn box. Not fun. Today, when cleaning out the cupboard, I left the carriers in the hall and when I turned round both of them were sitting in their carriers happy as can be. Swines!!

I have also filled up a box of books for the car boot I am doing with a friend towards the end of June. That's just picking through one of the four bookcases we have in the house as well :o I'm going to pick through the CDs again and see if Music Magpie wants to give me cash. I am due another £15 from Mazuma soon for OHs broken phone - he dropped it in the sink and it is now officially deaded. Luckily we got a new one for nothing, and £15 for a broken phone isn't to be sneezed at.

Tomorrow I'm going to start going through my vast collection of clothes and seeing what should be binned, saved or put to the car boot. I am going to have to wash and iron it all (I HATE ironing) to try and get decent money (If possible) and lint roll all clothes to within an inch of their lives because of the moggies.

Has anyone ever done car boot before? Any hints or tips? The one we are going to do is across from our local Asda, so at least we can use the loo! I was thinking that we should take a fair amount of change, and a thermos or two of hot coffee. Any other ideas?

Okies, longest post in ages, off I wander!

    Hi all,

Quick post from me - just about to jump in the shower and head for my latest dentist check up. Unless there are bits falling off my teeth I won't need work done today but will have to make an appointment to fix all the issues I have developed having not been to a dentist for three years. Lalalalaaa! I'm expecting to need at least three fillings, plus the root treatment needs finished. Whoop whoop :rotfl:

Apart from that the plans Chez Fresian are quite dull really. Having put off the building of my final bookcase for over a year because we didn't have a hammer and I kept forgetting to buy one, we found one in the Cupboard of Doom yesterday :rotfl: I was also planning to go and buy loo roll as we only had three rolls left. The Cupboard of Doom yielded another 12 rolls :D along with three pairs of OHs shoes and a bag of Christmas decorations I thought I had thrown out by accident!

The reason for the clearout is threefold:

    1. I have no car and my kind friend has offered to let me join her in carbooting which will be more money to throw into the savings pot, and may just pay for some of the planned expenditure coming up

    2. My house is a tip and clearing out unneeded stuff is good for the soul

    3. My mother, amazed by my new-found interest in cooking, has said that if I clear space in the hall cupboard she will buy me a second freezer to go in there. This will mean that when her and my dad visit at the end of the year I will get a whole lamb for the freezer (Thankfully my dad will attack said sheep with hacksaw so I don't have to butcher it) and probably loads of fish too. Buying a whole sheep/lamb for the freezer from home would only cost about £30 anyway, but they know lots of crofters, so free food for us!

Right, long post means I'm avoiding getting ready for the dentists, off I go!

Hello f_f and good luck at the dentist today, what a wonderful way to spend your bank holiday!
  • Dentist on a bank holiday??

I've done 2 x car boot sales in the past both at different places so my experience isn't vast....Things that sold really well were beauty products and perfume/smellies, even half used ones!

I took a load of baby / toddler clothes thinking they would all sell well, and left two suitcases of older boys clothes (8-10) at home as I didn't think they would sell. I did throw in a couple of older boy's tops and they sold really quickly and people kept looking through the clothes and asking me if I had any clothes for older boys whilst the toddler stuff was almost untouched! I was kicking myself.

One woman hit the nail on the head when she said boys were so rough with their clothes, that they were fit for nothing by the time they had grown out of them, so it was rare to find older boys clothes at boot sales or charity shops etc...(made me kick myself even more).

Books didn't sell well either, I took hundreds and priced them at 50p each or 3 for £1 and still came home with loads.

Suitcases would have sold well. I'd taken the boys clothes in two cases, and put them behind the pasting table, and umpteen people asked me how much I wanted for the suitcases (which weren't for sale).

Also, I think I was unfortunate in the pitch I was allocated. It was one of the first as you came through the gate, so I think people were reluctant to spend their moneys at the first cars and wanted a walk around, but as it was that huge I think they must have spent all their money farther on and couldn't be bothered coming back.

Old magazines sold quite well (celebrity gossip ones like OK) I got 10p each for.

Videos - no interest at all.

I made about £45 at the first one (3 hours) which was a small one, and only about £30 at the second one, where I was for five hours. (after expenses had been deducted). But it was still £75 for giving up one weekend.

The first one was in a church car-park and it was held once a month, and there was only about 15 cars and I did quite well, but the second one is every week in a massive car park, and there was well over 100 cars there.

I phoned the bank in advance and asked for some change but by God, they didn't like giving me it! You need it though, as you can bet your bottom dollar the first person who buys from you will pay with a tenner for something costing 40p.

Oh and that's another one - watch out for those bargain hunters when you advertise summat for 50p and they say "sorry I only have 40p in change" so you say "go on then, have it for 40p" and when they open their wallets they've blooming got loads of change!

    Good luck!
