ello's:D
this is day 4 for me and i'm feeling great .I've stuck to the CS diet to the letter and still finding it easy.I'm in the loo every 5 mins and going through andrex at some rate but otherwise fine,i've not had any headaches yet, should i have had them by now? i read in the CS booklet that getting these is a good thing and im (wierd)hoping i get em soon.I'm showing an inordanate amount of willpower @the mo..havent jumped on the scales yet or ate those baby potatoes smothered in butter with chopped cherry toms and spring onions though i have had a dream bout flakey pastry but still not been tempted enough to try.
sukey: Hi,i'm sure i read somewhere in these posts that others were using the Atkins bars and i like both the chicken and beef soup (if u like cream of mushroom youll like the beef ).
Intergalactic floosie:hi, it says in the wee CS booklet that they can be made up for work and things ,but i guess as well if your likely to forget grabbing it out of the fridge in the morning then you could always keep a shake sachet with you if water is easily availiable.
Good luck with this every one and if anyones been on this for a while and got the results the were after ,could you please let us all know, good for the willpower and all that. ching ching ,see you all later. All I can do is be me, whoever that is

I've had a bit of disaster this week. Tomorrow is my official weigh in but couldn't resist a sneaky peak this morning (why do I do this to myself) and to my horror have GAINED 1.6kg again. I had a bit of a blip over the weekend where I was forced to eat some pasta (long story no food someone else cooking couldn't refuse etc etc) but surely that cannot be responsible for the sudden weight gain again? I think I've got to stick to this diet religiously to see proper results. I'm really annoyed with myself. I don't blame CS though I think it's my own fault. I'm determined to stick with it though and the shakes really fill me up. It's the evening meal that's causing problems for me I think."If the Apocalypse comes; Beep me!"0

Lighter Life and the Cambridge Diet (basically they're the same thing except the cambridge diet is about half the cost of lighter life) are designed for people with high BMI's. You can do their "maintainance" type programs if you've only got a bit to loose, but really your BMI should be 30+.
They were initially developed for use in hospitals for those requiring rapid weight loss prior to operations and the like. The MAXIMUM time you can do the full diet is 12 weeks- you then go down a level or 2, to something similar to what this celebrity slim does- and then, if you want/need to shift more weight, go back up to the full thing [for another max 12 weeks]. you keep doing this until you are the weight you want to be and then slowly shifting down a level at a time until you've learned what you can/can't have and basically have a perminant sustainable weight.
The councellor is there to find out why you got to the weight you were in the first place, give you advice, support you, and weigh you. you can see the councellor as often or as little as you want and you usually buy the shakes etc off them. I saw mine monthly and bought monthly supplies of shakes etc as well as a few other extras- such as a special flavoured powder to add to water to make it taste nicer (bit like a cordial)- this powder was fantastic with fizzy water (I really dislike fizzy water but couldn't get enough of it once I'd added this powder!).
I went on the cambridge diet for about 3/4 months- I was then made redundant so £130-150 a month on it just wasn't going to happen any more! but I liked the fact I didn't have to worry about what I could/couldn't eat. All I could have was a shake, soup or bar. that was it... though I didn't really like the soups so my choice was even more simple! no more trips to the supermarket... eating out was a no-no (though I didn't do that much anyway). I lost a little over 2 and a half stone during that time [with about 6 in total to lose- but I was aiming for 5]... I've put back on about 1 stone now but- and I won't go into too much details here- I know why.
Exercise was never my problem- food was [and still is]. So I don't think I'm going to bother with celebrity Slim due to still having to worry about food and it basically being the step 2/3 of the cambridge diet! (and cambridge diet is a little cheaper).
Yes- you feel crappy and are close to breaking point for the first couple of days on this diet (and I bet celebrity slim is the same) because your body is adjusting to less, and different, forms of food. humans get most of their required amounts of water from their food (needing to drink 8 glasses a day is actually false- it's not a bad thing, but it isn't necessary) so ALL these diets require you to increase your water intake levels.
My main tip- regardless of the shake based diet involved- is to have the shakes etc when you would normally eat. don't conform to having one for "breakfast" if it's not something you normally have. I tended to have lunch, dinner and supper before I went on the diet; not breakfast, lunch and dinner... so the first few days I was on my diet I struggled to drink the breakfast one and was starving by the evening... after a switch of timings everything was good again.
If like me you're not much of a breakfast fan make sure you have something to set of your metabolism for the day even if it's just a mouth full of yogurt. I recommend a small cup of as hot as you can handle water with lemon in it (Not boiling cause you have to be able to drink it as hot as possible and you don't want to burn yourself! and NO sugar allowed!)- it'll clean out your system in prep for the day AND set up your metabolism. This is also something you should do/have regardless of diet or no diet!0 -
Hello and welcome all newbies, I love hearing everyone's stories and I think it's great that we're helping each other through the good AND bad times.
I'm so pleased with how I feel on this diet - I have more energy, I'm rarely tempted by banned foods (had a Twirl last night but not gonna beat myself up about it), and my skin has improved - I was told how well I looked yesterday, bonus!! And I'm back in my skinny jeans, hurrah!
Saturday I went on a friend's leaving do but decided to drive so that the second glass of wine wouldn't be possible - I was going to have it when I got in but wasn't even bothered. I think the fact that the diet is working is keeping me on the straight and narrow and giving me the incentive to carry on - the weight loss isn't massive but the inches are going and I'm firming up, and I only started walking to work again today due to previously recovering from illness. I have so much energy I swear those Atkins bars have speed in 'em!
My typical meal is Atkins break bar at c9.30 then shake or another bar at 11ish (this is technically two snacks but the shakes don't fill me up so I've all but knocked them off).
Lunch is an Atkins Advantage bar, of which I like all the flavours so far, and they are so filling it's unbelievable. Snack is either another Break bar (yes I think I'm addicted), then evening meal meat n veggies or salad, with an Endulge bar a bit later.
I never had the headaches either, or bad breath (on this or the Atkins), and the hunger and need to pee all the time fades after a few days.
Weigh-in tonight and will measure myself when I get in, so fingers crossed....x0 -
hi all
ok all nobody has mentioned a side effect i have and im sure im not the only one to suffer from it, FLATULENCE!
hahaha. cmon guys and girls im sure im not the only one with this problem hahaha.
lets all keep up the good work, 1st weigh in on friday ooh fingers crossed. x0 -
Oh hell sukey you're right, I'd forgotten all about that, stinkiest farts ever - luckily at work I already had a plug-in smelly right next to my desk.....and I don't share the bed or they'd be passing out!
Weight loss again disappointing, just 1kg since last week, but I'm telling myself that any loss is a step in the right direction, plus I have more energy and total cms lost is 12.5 (another 1.5 from waist and 1 from hips, plus 1 and 1.25 from arms).
I've also started walking again so hopefully that will improve the results, but next week I'm on holiday then I have Glastonbury - but I'll be taking boxes of Break bars with me, at least then I won't be succumbing to unhealthy snacks ALL the time!0 -
oh thank god it wasnt just me haha.
hey shaggers youre doing well, you keep up the good work any loss is closer to your goal weight. am loving them atkins bars peanut caramel so nice can them be as a snack?
