Yet again not done much saving since the last post, only dumped some change out of a bag into my money pots (think it was about £2.40)

Have paid boyfriend for my half of the TV and think I'm now used to the size of it, it doesn't seem to dominant the room anymore

Surveyor has been round to measure up for the new kitchen although the final price and finance needs still to be sorted out

Seems a bit weird to be fitting a new kitchen when the house will be put up for sale next year but the one that is in it absolutely disgusting

Yes, I know that argument well, glad to see that your boy friend won the day and stuck out for the larger TV - it's a man thing !

Quick update although finding it hard to type as have been shovelling gravel into a wheelbarrow for what seems like hours at boyfriends (what a great way to spend a week off work) Only now the drinks breaks are longer than the shovelling time, skip about quarter full, only about 80% of the garden to go.

Have spent a few days in Fort William this week, went for a few walks, a boat trip and lots of 3 course meals and a few beers (Wildcat at the Grog & Gruel). Thought the weather would be rubbish but got a bit of a sun tan on Ben Nevis

Been stripping wallpaper in my hall so that nearly all done a few bits and pieces that can be done 1 night after work, boyfriend managed to reach all the high places so I'll just need to stand on a chair for the rest

Have signed up for new kitchen and paid deposit so just need a fitting date, haggled about 1K off the price so didn't think I did too bad and it all goes towards geting the house ready to sell (although I suppose I could have used the money to pay off the mortgage)

And next weekend we are off to Worcester to a beer festival so more hotel bills to pay, but it's a treat for my birthday as well

So after next weekend (apart from a wedding) I should be back on track with OP the mortgage and saving again (to finish off house)

Boyfriend has OP his mortgage by £1500 since my last post, all helps :T

  • It certainly does all help. Well done on the huge re-decorating/renovating efforts and on OPs/getting back on track!

Diaster - boyfriend left shovel on the ground (after being told all day to lean it against the fence when not in use) and I fell over whilst holding a fork and another shovel, managed to avoid head collision with the wheelbarrow but coudn't avoid collision with the gravel garden. So leg shredded with about 21 cuts (I was sad and counted everyone) and this morning I have a very sore bottom.

But skip about 50% full and garden about 40% complete - taking photos every hour but only just starting to see a difference. Boyfriend has escaped to B&Q but that was about 2 hours ago, so who knows what he'll come back with :rotfl:

Other diaster some little pest has eaten all off our lettuces, so we have none for salads, think it happened when we where in Scotland but we still have the spring onions, carrots and the butternut squash have left home again and are now in the big veg plot that boyfriend made last month

Oh well onwards and upwards (or downwards shovelling - oh my back and arms hurt )

Spent most off Sunday shovelling gravel and soil into the skip, I gave up just after lunch but OH carried on until 7 at night.

Felt so sorry for him this morning when he had to get up for work, his hands are blistered and swollen and he looks like he could just drop off to sleep

Anyway skip is full, but garden isn't finished. This is the 3rd skip that has been filled from the backgarden but think it only needs one more to finish it off, then we can order some top soil and grass. Then finally we might have a garden that can be used. Have to tap up mum to start growing some plants for us. And then the people who buy the house can enjoy all our hard work :rotfl:but I'm sure not having a jungle will increase its value and saleability

On a lay off day (reduced pay ) so still at OH, have done a wash (but its raining so can't hang it out) washed up, tidied the kitchen/living room/bedroom and think I'll just run the hoover round the living room/hall/kitchen before driving back to mine and doing my wash/food shop

Had a brilliant weekend away for my birthday, weather was sunny, beer was plentiful, hotel was ok and the food was good

Feeling quite tired and feel like going to bed for a quick snooze, a good power nap would make me feels so much better.

No lay off day this week so a 5 day week with a wedding Friday night, still don't know what to wear so need to have a root through wardrobe. Few birthdays as well, but have cards/present already, need to post one tomorrow after work

Then after that its save, save, save - kitchen starts on the 19th October, wondering if I can fit in decorating the living room and downstairs loo before the end of Sept, have to check finances for carpet/wallpaper/paint for the living room and floor tiles for the loo (think OH has paint and possible floor tiles left over from his bathroom) Note to self see what's in the shed
