With being off work on Friday decided to do some jobs around the house, since I never seem to be at home to do anything

Counted up my gold, silver and bronze slummy jars after finally getting some money bags, was going to leave it till the end of the year but thought it would be much better off in the bank. Grand total £91 (have about another £20 in 50p, 20p 10p and 5p) but its not enough to fill a money bag for the bank

Went into town and paid it off the mortgage , changed account again to that I will still get the £5/month interest on my current account.

Whilst at the bank asked for a balance of mortgage and it was ..... £27,980 which is less than I thought and that's without the £91 being taken off

Today I have been emptying kitchen, painting dining room (only 1 coat so far). Fridge is now in the living room along with dining table, microwave, OH's toaster and kettle. Plus a few boxes of pans, cooking implements. Didn't realise I has so much stuff hidden away. Just waiting for some polyfilla to dry and then will be back painting a bit more. Trying to paint the easy bits so there's less to do on Monday night after its been ripped out

OH has to managed to paint all the ceiling and 1 coat looks enough so I'm very impressed with him.

Paid in cheque to ISA so that is maxed out for the tax year, so now need to save up for the new tax year

So after a week of madness kitchen is now finished and looking lovely, started to feel a bit stressed at the end of the week, cracking headache, and sore throat, hacking cough put it down to the stress of the kitchen. But it turned out to be swine flu so had last week off work the high temperature and throwing up was the final confirmation

I have never felt so drained, was getting out of breath just making a brew so struggled all last week to do some small jobs around the house

Feeling much better now, on a lay-off day today so still at OH's but will be going home soon so hopefully finish the kitchen this week, bit of painting still to do, plumb up the radiator and finish putting all the stuff back in the cupboards, have so many now can't decide where to put things lol

On the money front, think the difference in the mortgage balance is because the interest hasn't been added, even thought its calculated daily think it only gets added at the end of the year. October OP has been paid, so thats £104

Another lay off day and I'm still at boyfriends using his electricity, shower. Should really go and clean his kitchen and do some tidying up before I leave but seem to have spent the last 3 hours on here and Facebook

Still haven't finished my kitchen off, painting to do, filling of holes and put everything back in the cupboards. A sane person would use days of work to do such jobs but not me

Boyfriend has raced ahead of me getting his house ready for sale, fogged up windows are replaced, new living room carpet (beige not floral red), new curtains for living room , cushions and lampshades. Hall and stairs are being carpeted on Thursday

I still have to decorate/carpet my hall and decide how to tackle the living room (decorate/carpet). I have the stuff for the downstairs toilet but no motivation to do it

Our deadline off March 1st 2010 is getting nearer, my excuse is my house is bigger 3 bedrooms v 2 bedrooms

Oh well onwards and upwards - I did plumb in the radiator in the kitchen/dining room and then fixed the leak on it, so a little baby step in the right direction (only did this as I wanted to put the heating on hee hee)

Another week gone with not much achieved, at boyfriends as this is the last lay off day that the company has declared

Don't have a problem with waking up on these days, just getting dressed and going home lol

Think I'll have to write a job list, might do it month by month so I can see how everything left to do fits in between now and end of February

Did some shredding for the boyfriend yesterday, tried to encourage him to shred bank statements from 2004 - 2008 but he's resisting. I can't think why anyone would need 5 years worth, I thought 12 months would be enough

A new year with renewed interest

    Achieved in 2009
    3 bedrooms decorated
    New kitchen fitted
    Floor tiled in downstairs toilet
    Mortgage OP's about £2.5K (due to kitchen/decorating)

    Goals for 2010
    Finish decorating kitchen
    Finish decorating hall
    Finish decorating downstairs toilet
    Decorate living room
Tidy garden (need to decide on shed/fence panels)
Put house up for sale 01.03.2010

Not back at work until the 12th January due to more enforced lay off days (on 70% pay so not to bad) although think I wont be on full wages until about April (due to work guaranteeing 92% each month)

Then going to save about £2-3K for moving costs then everything else will either be thrown at mortgage or saved in joint account for new house with boyfriend although I would like a new car

Worked out OP's for 2009 at £2665 so that should cancel out all the interest for the year and take some off the balance

Started on the downstairs toilet it just needs glossing, took 3 coats of paint :rotfl:

Living room has been stripped and some of the carpet (round the edges) removed so its easier to paint the skirting boards.

Wallpaper and paint bought and decorator arranged for Monday ,not very "cost effective" but I've never wallpapered and it will take ages for me and BF to do and probably look rubbish

Not looking forward to taking the radiator off the wall on Sunday, thankfully it seems to be getting warmer and I have a Slanket to get under. But washing the walls/skirting boards will keep me warm for a few hours

Weigh loss going OK, scales said that I have lost 6lbs which seems a lot for 2 weeks - not that I'm complaining.:rotfl:

  • How did you get on with the glossing? I have 4 doors upstairs that need doing but I've been putting it off thinking that it's quite smelly. When I did skirting boards in the summer I had the windows open if we were in but can't do that in this cold weather. Is it really toxic smelling in your house or are you braving the cold air?
