I'm now very confused and my confusion is caused by a bank
I changed my monthly mortgage payment from £198 to £300 so the bank said that this would change from a direct debit to a standing order, which I didn't think anything off.
At the weekend logged on on-line and some months the £300 has not go towards my mortgage. In May only £195 went out as a SO. I can only think that this is because at the end of April I made an overpayment of £155 but this doesn't add up to £300 so very confused
I need to sit down with my statements and try and work out what payments have gone out before I ring them but I thought that standing orders could only be changed by me
Not a total nightmare, as the money is still sat in my current account so I can make an overpayment,Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Radish
Perplexing. I agree, Direct Debit mandates are variable but I understood standing orders remained fixed until amended. Do speak to the bank to establish what they are doing. In our case we can't set an SO to pay the mortgage with NatWest, we have to use a DD but we can make ad hoc transfers into the mortgage from one of the offset accounts.
Good luck in resolving this quickly.0 -
Haven't done much again since the last post, still haven't rang the bank to see what they are playing at, but have worked out what has gone out each month, so there is a difference of about £470 from what I thought I had paid.
Spent the weekend at home, car passed its MOT so hooray :j and have finally (with lots of help from boyfriend) finished painting the back bedroom :T, just need to connect radiator, give room a good hoover and then the carpet can be ordered. So possible next weekend I might have my upstairs back to normal, so no more squeezing down the landing as the bedroom furniture is there
Had 2nd layoff day this Monday, and it rained (told you it would) so went and had a kitchen designed, will cost lots of money (which I have saved) and seems a bit odd putting in a new kitchen when it will be going up for sale next year. But the kitchen that is currently in is disgusting and falling apart
Estate agent estimated that I would get at least 80% of the cost back and it would be a good selling points so I'm thinking I should do it, to help improve its chance of selling.
On the veggie front, we have a 2nd butternut squash and the mint has finally started to grow, everything else is growing well, but there will be no vegetable lottery as we can tell what everything is now (felt a bit like Rolf Harris typing that)
Just remembered I did do a bit of money sorting at the weekend, I have used some glass jars to sort out my spare change, with not buying drinks from the vending machine at work it's starting to mount up, so I now have a gold, silver and bronze jar for my change to be dumped into. No idea how much is in each one think I'll leave them till the end of the year (unless they overflow with wealth) and use them to OP the mortgage
Plus boyfriend is copying and has OP £1000 off his mortgage last weekMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Boyfriend has OP another £1000 pounds off his mortgage this weekend so he is nearly sub 60K, so I have been teasing him about getting it under next month (or giving the money to me)
I have paid nothing off my mortgage and have started lapsing on making my own dinners to take to work, bought from the canteen twice last week, so I need a good telling off
Have now connected radiator in back bedroom and ordered carpet, which is coming Thursday. Also have signed contract on kitchen so need to wait for the surveyor to come round to check measurements, although it probably won't get fitted till September.
Veggie news - butternut squashes have left home, and moved outside into bigger tubs so they are currently been battered by the rain, which will be a shock for them. Rocket has lived up to its name and filled the bucket it was in, so should be able to eat some soon instead of buying it :rotfl:Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Radish, your rocket planting is doubly good... soon you'll be able to eat home grown instead of purchased AND it's great in packed lunches to get you back on track with that!!!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

I'm cursed
First the TV blew up, I was given it for free years ago so I can't really complain that it has died and filled my house full of burning circuit boards smells
Then my bedside lamp blew up, the bulb blew and the shock made all the bulb casing crack and cover me in bits of plastic
I'm to afraid to switch the microwave on and they say it comes in 3's
So have spent lots of money on HUGE LCD tv, (boyfriend has paid for it but I'm going to give him half), bedside lamp and then we had a trip to IKEA for new TV stand and a new bookcase, plus some other bits and pieces (pictures/frames)
But my house looks ever so prettyMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Radish DON'T turn on the new TV; surely the microwave is cheaper to replace? :rotfl:
Actually, I have to say when we changed TVs and via the Cable service the HD box upscales standard broadcast that then gives a great picture from viewing distance; HD itself however is excellent especially some of the wildlife/natural vistas and certain sports etc. Enjoy it!0 -
