evergreen - I think so. I need to anyway! :D Well done by the way!

I had a tasty dinner, OH cooked a nice pork and veg stir fry. I had a small portion and was very satisfied with it. I am still not snacking, which is a joy. I am such a snacker normally!!

Must get some scales. The WW ones are back to full price in Argos so boo. What type of scales do you all have? Just the basic ones or fancy ones?

I have digital scales that just give weight not body fat. I like the display as it is easy to see and read. I think I got them from Wilkinsons about 7 or 8 years ago, but they weren't expensive.

Hi Evergreen, yes Dragon is going to run February's Half Stone Challenge, as I will be on holiday. But hopefully I will have internet access and so will still be looking in as I don't want to trash all my hard work just coz I'm on hols

If we just aim to lose half a stone a month, we should all be shadows of our former selves by the end of the year!!! :D

I will definitely be up for the February challenge.

For dinner last night I had a slice of homemade quiche with salad leaves, chopped tomato and beetroot instead of using a dinner plate, I used a smaller dessert/side plate and felt as though I had eaten loads because the plate was piled high when in fact I hadn't.

I have just come back from a stroll up the road about a mile round trip. I shall weigh myself at the end of the week to see if I have lost any more.

    Food today:

    Breakfast - porridge

Lunch - leftover pork and veg stir fry from last night, and half a dozen grapes

Dinner will be a nice cottage pie with Quorn mince.

I have walked about 6,200 steps so far today, the walk home and a walk tonight should bring me up to about 13,000 - have not been to the gym today as I'm feeling a little stiff from yesterday (good sign!) but will go back tomorrow. Every second day is enough for the moment.

I must start using a smaller plate too, it is a visual aid to eating less I'm told!

Lunch today was the same as last night's dinner - might drag out some homemade spag bol sauce from the freezer and heat it up and cook up some taglitelle to go with it for dinner tonight.

I admit that I was naughty earlier on and ate 4 cubes of Lidl white chocolate containing rice and nuts:eek: I did buy some suggestive biscuits on my mystery shopping trip too but I know that I can leave them alone or maybe eat just one with a scrap of cheese.

Smaller plates are definitely the way to go because it does make you think you are eating more than you are.

Well done to those that have lost weight.

Portion control has been quite a 'thing' for me. Like many people I was brought up to eat everything on my plate, and I still can't bear waste. So I got some smaller dinner plates from the charity shop with rims on, so the food area is quite a bit smaller. I also now use a small cereal bowl for pasta instead of the HUGE pasta dishes I was using.

Often I will have something I fancy but only have half a portion - eg I'll cut a cake or chocolate bar in half. That works for me because I don't feel deprived by not being able to eat it at all, but I also feel in control because I am using a lot fewer calories out of my daily allowance.

My worst downfall, though is social drinking - I rarely drink on my own, but if I have friends over and have some wine, I can never seem to stop at one glass - I always mean to, but once I've had the one glass, my motivation and willpower go out of the window.

    Ah well, I guess it's a good job I don't have many friends ;):D

Last night I had spag bol and chucked a handful of pasta in to cook - ended up eating all the pasta and half of the sauce:rolleyes:

Today I had a coffee for breakfast (I know I know:rolleyes: ) but lunch was leftover bolognese sauce with some salad leaves, followed by a slice of apple pie (I deserved it after slip sliding all over Birmingham today). I got the apple pie from the Farmers Market along with a huge cornish pasty (it is to feed two of us but the bloomin' thing has broken - so I guess it will make more than one meal for me).

I am glad to be home - my feet are sore despite my putting gel thingies in my boots, guess I will have to buy some new shoes that are more comfortable.
