Thought so, Thanks.
Any ideas what our next move should be? We can't afford to pay for BR, and we have nothing to pay the creditors?
I've tried looking for holes to hide down but the ones I've found are already full.0 -

Ahh... So if someone intends to pay in installments you have to- create an application (creating the barcode)
- wait for applicant to confirm they have nearly paid it all then 'submit' electronically
- send the hard-copy signed original once the £90 has been paid
CAB did the application and just said they would send off the original once they received confirmation that the £90 was being paid, I had not realised there was an extra step in the process.0 -
Is it possible for me (on my own) to apply for a DRO without effecting my partners credit rating overdraft and the such?.
He claims working/child taxs credits for myself and the children.
The debts are in my name and were accrued before he moved in and made the claim for us.
My only form of income to the household would be the £34 he claims for me in the working tax credit.
Fast help on this would be really appreciated as we are butting heads with the collectors pretty much as I type.0 -
Hi everyone. I've been unemployed since January due to being made redundant. I have been unable to pay any of my debts and owe in the region of £9k-£10k to creditors for unpaid utility bills from when i lived on my own, two personal loans, an old mobile phone bill and an old overdraft. Just before I lost my job I moved in to live with my father who has had to re-locate to a different town and I am not contributing to the rent as I cannot afforf to. I have applied for the best part of around 40-60 jobs and have had no luck at all and i'm really shocked that it is taking this long to find work, so due to this I have been seriously considering going to college to study for a course so that i can retrain in a different career, would me being in college stop me from getting a DRO,as my monthly payments amount to around the £650 mark but I am only recieving £64 odd for job seekers allowance.
I am going to ring the CAB tomorrow and arrange an appointment with them and also see what they see.0 -
Hello, newbie just joined, read all 16 pages in 1 go, headaches now, but, just to mention, I talked thro DRO with CCCS, and they advised that our bank overdraft debt would just transfer to my husband as it is joint account, wish I hadn´t changed our bank account now, could have struggled on paying minimum interest each month. Don´t know what to do now, any advice gratefully accepted.0

DRO's as the same as bankruptcy....ALL joint debts will fall to the person NOT insolvent i'm afraid...so if you decided on a DRO or indeed bankruptcy then the bank O/D would pass to your OH

Hi Jen_Jen1
Sorry to hear about your situation.
For the moment at least try and offer a token £1 to your creditors to acknowledge the debt, and if possible try and save up the money if bankruptcy has been advised as the best option for you both and things are not going to improve. If it takes time to save it may be worth doing this if the end result makes you debt free.
It may be possible to apply for help with the bankruptcy fees from your gas, electricity or water supplier. If you look on the internet for your supplier and trust funds you may get lucky. If you do apply for a trust fund they will normally ask for a letter to support your application from a debt advisor so see if that is the case when checking online. Trust funds are limited so it is not a guarantee you will be able to get help.
Regards
