Only me again...after more advice! lol
I received a letter last night from council tax!
Now...a previous bill was put on my DRO which has been acknoledged and attatchment to earnings ended. I have been as arranged been paying my current years bill at £25 a fortnight set up to run through until the new bill comes out to help me pay it, this has been the case since 06/08/2011.
The letter sent to me states a higher amount to pay in total than the letter from 06/08/2011. They have also cancelled my agreed plan and are asking for over £80 a month paid on the 1st of every month.... how can they increase my bill for the current year when I've been paying as arranged on time every payment?
It says in the letter that my new account runs from 02/09/2011(the date of my DRO approval) do you think they have just recalculated a coucil tax bill for 02/09/2011 - march 2012 and not taken into account what i have paid towards this years bill already?:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

It should be itemised and clear on their letter. Another possibility is that the £25 per 14 days arrangement cleared the balance by 5/4/12 but the £80 per calendar month arrangement has the last payment on 1Feb. Something like 16 x 25 being the same as 5 x 80.
OK, that wouldn't explain why the total increased. I think you're going to need to dig for an explanation.0 -

Thanks for the quick reply!
the last payment on this arrangement they have sent is last payment 01/03/2011 1 payment of £87.31 and 4 payments on £86.00!
my workings out show I should have a remaining balance of approx. £389...but this one is for £431.31?:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

Grrrr! Ive just rang them...n omg she's such a stuck up cow!!!! Talking down to me like im something she's just stepped in!!
She tells me that because of the DRO they have to re calculate my bill from the 02/09/2011 ... so I asked why this was when the DRO was for a previous bill and not my current year....she said they calculate per day from the date of the DRO for the remainder of the year....so i requested £100 returned to me that has been paid towards the previous arrangement if thats the case...
She said and i quote "I think thats a bit rich considering the sum you have just had wiped off because of your DRO":eek::eek: - I couldn't believe my ears!! I went on to inform her that if the Insolvency Service have granted me a DRO comments like that are not for her to make and my telephone call is for the current year only and not the amount of the DRO!
I informed her that the amount I owed for my current year is £389 and paid until the end of march fortnightly works out to no more than £32 a fortnight to clear before the next years bill is produced!
She said she will look into my account and get back to me in writing in a week or so...I told her that is not acceptable and I would like a phone call today to inform me of the outcome. She said she will re-bill for April 2011 - March 2011 and take off all money paid to the account and then work it all out....
I hate the people who work for council tax!!!! GRRRRRR!:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

She rang me back at work about an hour ago, all sweetness n light to tell me I was right!!
My previous amount of £389 is instated...my previous arrangement of £25 a month reinstated and she even said when the next bill comes to ring her and she'll set that up fortnightly over 12 months again for me
I will not get back into debt again!!!! :j:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

Hello. I wondered if being subject to a DRO (or once the 12 months has passed).. if this would effect applying to certain jobs?
I am looking into doing a book keeping and accountancy course. But just wondered if being subject to a DRO would effect me being able to apply for that type of role?
Obviously it's to do with managing money, and a DRO will show me to be back at managing money. Would they dismiss an application or not take on someone as an employee for this reason?0 -
Hi,
Do you need to show your bank statements to anyone when applying for a DRO? Some family members have been helping me out financially, nothing major but if included it would take me over the £50 a month you're allowed.
Also when you get together all your current statements, by the time the DRO gets approved the amounts will have changed as they're adding interest etc, how does that work? Does the current debt at the time it get approved just get wiped out, regardless how much it is?
Thanks!0 -
I recently had to sell a bunch of computers in order to make the rent and this month's minimum payments.
If I apply for a DRO would the above be classed as disposal of assets and therefore would the DRO be declined?
The sale of good WAS NOT to make money as such but to keep us afloat for another month.
Dont know what we are going to do come next month.0
