Congratulations on your DRO...here's to a debt free future! :j

If Wonga is on your DRO as stated then they are not allowed to take any money from you, and vice versa your not allowed to pay them anything! If they do, contact them again with your DRO number and explain they should not have taken it and to get it returned to you.

Is it set up on direct debit? if so...cancel it with your bank ;)

Thanks so much, a debt free future is exactly what I want. I don't want to have to live with that horrible feeling ever again (except for the inevitable mortgage someday, way off in the future!)

They take repayments via card payment, so I guess I'll have to try and contact them on the phone today. It has occurred to me though that I've not got such a problem as my benefit payment isn't tomorrow, it's next Wednesday! I usually take them out for a fortnight, but I took this one out for an extra week as it was a little more than usual and I figured (at that point in time) I'd need a little bit more time to find the difference. It's irrelevant now, but I'll still give them a call and see what they are saying.

    no problem :)

I contacted Anglian Water again yesterday as they still haven't told me what i need to pay a fortnight for my current year  I get some guy who said that my account is on hold for 4 weeks and that i dont need to make a payment and just wait for someone to contact. I then tried to explain that the longer i leave it without payment...the more my fortnightly amount will be, so ive told them i will continue to pay £13 a fortnight and on my workings out of how many fortnights there will be between now and february...it will be the first year in many when i can take advantage of the 2 free months :j will be the same for my council tax too...this DRO was the best thing i could have done, and the only thing i could have done at the same time! lol

Did you ask your case worker about this debt, considering they contacted you before your application was made?

Surely if you knew you had another debt you personally would want that put on your dro...

Also..if the debt is in your landlords name why are they asking you for it? Have you got it in writing on your tenancy that the water is included in your rent?

No I didn't because imo it's not my debt.

As long as you dont sell for more than £300 i cannot see a problem with it...

I have a few flat screen tv's and a buch of computers so I assumed I could not get a DRO.

However an adviser has just told me I could get a DRO as long as I relinquished said goods to go towards the debt.

    Is that correct?

I assumed assets over £300=no DRO.

Would be quite happy to give up "stuff" if it gets me out of this hole.

Buying it is what got me there in the first place.

Yeah I'll have to be careful as I just had a tax refund for £190.

In all honesty, how much would you pay for a second hand TV? personally, not a lot, as i can get a brand new one for £250. computers lose their value as soon as they are switched on in reality... unless you have 5 brand new 3D TV's and a couple of pretty new Macs i can't see you having a problem in all honesty...

    Hi,
Can anyone give me some advice? I am separated from my husband (for 18 months now) but are still married, and seem to fit the criteria to apply for a DRO. I have no assets and dont own a car. The only worry I have is that I rent the house that i live in from my husband at a reduced rate. My name is not on the mortgage and I didnt contribute to the deposit or monthly payments when we were together. He is concerned that because we are still married the house may be seen to be partly mine and is worried about losing it if i cant sort my debts out is this possible? i really need some help as git myelf into a mess!
