the log book only states who the keeper is not the actual owner i.e. the main driver...that doesnt mean the car belongs to the person.... We had a run in with the police because of ths once lol x
Thats cool then as long as that is just what it says. I have to be honest i haven't looked at my log book for ages and can't remember. I always thought the logbook was proof of ownership of the car.
I mean don't you fill out a slip transfering ownership when you sell it..?0 -
If you have proof it's in your dads name you should be fine. What does it say on the Log book..?.
I think it also asks if you are the legal owner does it not..? If it does and it's in your name you may have trouble. They could view your dads receipts as him paying for it but handing it to you as it's in your name. Therefore as i said on paper it is yours.
Both front and second page are in my name. i have the old blue style v5 but on the new v5 it clearly says "this document not proof of ownership".0 -
no you dont transfer ownership, you are registering yourself as the new keeper. The Green bit is titled (new KEEPER supplement) and it does indeed say "This document is not proof of ownership"0

hi sarbaz, if i were you id wait till one of the experts come on.. they will be able to tell you for certain..:)0

V5 document only shows the "registered keeper," and this is important to be with the main driver for insurance purposes to avoid something called "fronting" and is the place that speed tickets, conjestion charge, parking tickets are traced to.
For the purpose of the DRO, the OWNER is the person who paid for the vehicle. If you can prove your father paid for the vehicle then you should be fine to do the DRO0 -

Thanks i was really stressed there.
I have the letters from the finance company which is in his name for payments,is that enough?
Also i called the insolvency service helpline spoke to someone who kept putting me on hold to get answers and did not no much if any about DRO but told me you are looked at as the owner which i now persume is the wrong info.
Im just really worried about the car:(0 -
