Thanks to the help and advice on this thread, I have now applied for my DRO. I paid my fee on 7th but could not ring CCCS to tell them until yesterday 11th, and got a phone call from them today to go through my draft once again, make some minor adjustments, and then he submitted my application. He said that OS will write to me with a copy of the order and then also write to my creditors informing them of my DRO. I know from this thread that I can check the Insolvency Register to see if/when the DRO is granted

Just one query though, the adjustments he made to account for the ever increasing costs of electricity and, in particular, heating oil, left my incomings an my outgoings equal, i.e. £0 surplus/deficit. Now, I seem to remember reading somewhere in this thread that the Insolvency Service system could not handle a £0 balance, and that they had asked that these be adjusted to reflect a small surplus

I asked the guy if the £0 balance was OK and he said yes, it's fine, so I just wanted to put my mind at rest that this will not delay or effect my applicaion, if someone could advise me please

I've never heard of, or had any problems with, doing applications with a nil surplus/deficit..?

Is this true the CAB will no longer deal with DRO's?

    History:
After applying for a DRO through the CAB in late november, recieving a bunch of forms,3 of which were to be sent off to credit report companies.I filled in the forms to the credit reference companies posted them, recieved 2 back almost immediately, the third nothing .I tried to contact "Karim" at the CAB (whose email i recieved in the letter with the forms) about if 2 were enough or all 3 were needed first ,2 emails later no responce, then the snow hit and thought i had better give time for the post delay ,sent another email to CAB's "Karim" and got a "can not deliver" messeage from hotmail.Searched through all my letters looking for the letter i recieved the year before about getting a DRO, emailed that person at the CAB instead , (and got a responce the next day!), she informed me she dosent do DRO's anymore and has arranged a consultation with "Edwards Duthie Soliciters" at the CAB office instead..... :(
Dosent the CAB deal with DRO's anymore? Even if my DRO was applied for in November but was the credit refference report companies fault & a non responsive CAB members fault, not my own that it wasnt submitted online in November? More importantly to someone with no money, how much does this now mean i will have to pay these soliciters? Bad,bad, experiances with lawyers in the past is the main reason i am now so dam scared about this! ( i had to use the CAB in the past because of bad lawyers demanding money in the past, and now the CAB is sujesting i use some lawyers for this DRO!!!!! ) :(
What you have to realise is each CAB is run and funded independantly, they're not all linked. Therefore the availability of DROs will vary from bureau to bureau as only Approved Intermediaries can do them, and not all bureau have intermediaries! I'm an approved intermediary working for CAB and still doing applications, and there's been no announcements or changes from CAB head office, so it's more likely your individual bureau no longer has an intermediary, hence why they've referred you elsewhere.

    Hope that helps!

That is something i didnt realise, i always assumed the CAB was all one body.Hence the reason i thought it was a total change to all the CAB offices, as they were dealing with it before Xmas and are not now...
Does this also mean i could walk into another CAB office in the same bourough and they "might" have an "Approved Intermediaries" to deal with this? Or is it more a county by county thing and i am just unlucky enough to be in a county were all the CAB offices will refuse to do the DRO ( Havering refuses most things! ). I only ask, lol, because i REALLY do hate dealing with lawyers and would prefer a more "human" point of contact!? ;)

Theres probably a lawyer somewhere right now reading this and thinking "mmmmm....slander...money!"

BTW love the "Immoral angeluk" tag, brought a grin to my face this morning! ;):)

If you cant get in at CAB, CCCS have a department that deal only in DRO's

    lol thanks :D

Each county can have numerous different bureau. To give you an idea in Staffordshire alone there's 5 that I can think of, and very possibly more than that! It all depends on the area, the funding and the demand. You'd need to call each one individually to see if they had intermediaries. Alternatively there's National Debtline, CCCS and... uh.. someone else.. (lol) who do them.

Lol i just tried their online DRO pages that lead to their online assesment form,i completed it and was advised i have " minus £246 a month coming in,pay creditors only £1 ,and come back to the site and be reassessed in 3 to 6 months when your circumstances change"....lol!!!!!!!!!!!
I also tried emailing the main DRO email at the CAB from the insolvency gov site, their atomated responce was "Search for your local bureau and once the address details are displayed scroll down to the Specialist Services section. If Debt Relief Order is listed, the bureau will be able to assist with your application." After searching the 3 CAB's for my area none of them had a "Specialist Services section" that i could find!
Lol looks like i will have to meet these "creatures" that has been set up at the local CAB after all.
Anyway thank you both for all the suggestions if i survive the consultation, and if my head dosent implode, i will post whats happening....
Eeeeck consultation with lawyers one day and then the following day lazer surgery at the hospital, i just cant wait for next week, what fun!!! lol!!!!

I am delighted to say that my DRO, submitted by CCCS on 12th January, was granted on 13th January :T :T :T Thanks again for all your help and advice on here

My husband, Mr 3Dogs, originally could not apply for a DRO due to having a pension fund, so his only option was bankruptcy and we were only paying token £1 payments to his creditors while I sorted out my DRO

However, with the change in the legislation with effect from April 2011, which will mean that pension funds will no longer be classed as assets, he will be applying for a DRO himself in April

My question would be, is anyone starting the procedures for DRO's in these circumstances, in advance of the rule change, so that the DRO is ready to submit on the date the new legislation comes into effect?
