Sneezing and coughing and generally being very 'throaty' are all part of getting rid of the muck you've had stored inside SandC, so a good thing really. I must admit I very soon enjoyed the withdrawal from nicotine and marked the days of until that blissful freedom came! Brilliant!! A good idea to use honey, lemon and warm water as a throat soother, also try Strepsils.
A very warm welcome to the thread neenie! It's always good to see another person getting back to the life they once knew, good luck to you in 'finding yourself' all over again. Someone had a marvellous idea when suggesting you quit together, the moral support and knowing others around you are feeling the same must spur you all on no end.
A very warm welcome to the thread to you also Chrissy and congratulations on getting past that first week. 9 days is so very good and so far you should be so proud of yourself. We'll give you all the support and help we can. We all wish we'd quit years ago - or never started in the first place, but at least you're doing this now! A great idea to save your money, to treat yourself too as that alone helps so much. I'm still forever thinking "Thank God I don't do that anymore", what a blessing! The sleeping problem is quite normal, try "Kalms" a natural product which really does help in getting the good night we all need. All the best for this to be your final quit!!!
So, Mimi, you now have Chrissy to partner with feelings wise and it's surprising how you can each help each other through it all. You're doing wonderfully well, you even sound so strong! Keep it going Mimi, we want this time to be the one for you!!!
Well done Helen, anything else you can try to shock us with!!!Well done on getting to day 17 so well, so much to be proud of - so far!!! :T You're right about the PMT, we've often had girls complaining of feeling the way you describe, sometimes they know what it is, but not always. I'm glad the constipation is better now, what a relief for you! Keep strong Helen and get through the PMT without pulling your hair out or anyone else's!!
I see you're keeping strong Dreamingalound, keep it up and stay strong! You're definitely entering your 1st week, no doubt about it. Your thoughts about how you're viewing the days as 1 one day and 365 the next is typical of it being exasperating on the rougher ones and exiting on the good. You're normal!!!;)
A very warm welcome to the thread to you linz! I've honestly no idea whether it's the lozenges which are making you thirsty, but I'd give into the thirst and drink all that you need to. It'll help with any cravings as well as helping you feel full so you don't overeat. Also try viewing it that it's washing you through! There's plenty of support here for you and you too can help the others! All the best in quitting for good though I must admit I agree with Dreamingalound and his <<<"..start making him go outside...it'll make it slightly easier for yourself.!!">>>
Congratulations love-hearts!!!:T
How about this to make things easier for everyone? On the title bar of your posts, why not put the amount of days not smoked for and how you're quitting? Why brain isn't that great  and often we see members writing ummm what means are you quitting by? It'd be much easier for us all, see what you think.
Very well done all, a very successful day by the sounds of things! Another one to make you all very proud of yourselves and another day closer to your goal! Make each day count and reward yourselves weekly for the terrific efforts you're putting in. Keep strong folks - you CAN do this and I'm sure you WILL!!!

It's day 2 for me and I have no physical cravings (some mental ones though). The sickness is a bit better on the tablets because I am not having so much water when I take them (strange that it makes me feel sicker as I love drinking water). I have my inhalator for something to hold when I am on the computer as that's when I used to smoke the most. I washed up all the ashtrays yesterday and they stank!! also febreezed the whole house ready for when my sense of smell comes back.Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -

I have just done exactly the same. Went to get my prescription last week for the second lot (weeks 3/4 - Champix course, not quitting), however didn't collect them as had a few left that I'd forgotten to take.
Anyway with prescription in hand I decided to see how I'd get on without them, and after a funny few days I'm barely even thinking about cigarettes, its great! The prescription is always there if I need it though.
Shimmershelly - If I were you I'd plan to undertake the full course and see what happens. I think you'll know when you're ready.Barclaycard £2870 @ 0% until Oct 09Tesco Finance £2150 @ 0% until Feb 10£5,020 / £10,560 (LBM - August 2008)~SMOKE FREE SINCE 14/03/090 -
Morning all! Feeling very positive today, cravings not too bad last night (was painting my nails to keep my hands busy
).
Mind you, I always feel more positive after the weekly meeting at work as it reinforces all the progress we've all made (and it's also quite funny - there's some proper characters trying to give up!)
Good luck today everyone - remember, just take it a day at a time, that's what really helps me

Last Ever Cigarette - 28/01/10

Hi all. Haven't been around since Monday because my 17 month old son has been in hospital with a really bad chest infection. I stayed in with him on a camp bed as he is so young.
I was very tempted to smoke on Tuesday morning when oh took over so I could shower and see our 3 year old daughter for a few hours. The stress and worry made me crave cigarettes overwhelmingly and I very nearly caved.
What stopped me was the thought that if I had still been smoking I would have blamed myself for his chest infection, worrying that the carbon monoxide on my breath and clothes had contributed in some way. Also the thought of craving cigarettes while in hospital with him and sneaking off for a fag when he'd dropped off to sleep and running the risk that he might have woken up alone in a strange place with no one there.
He is home now but still poorly and I'm still worried, exhausted and stressed out. I hope if I can get through this week without smoking I can get through anything. Fair play to oh he is also still on the wagon, gave the patches up over a week ago and hasn't started again.
We are ratty with each other though
Good luck everyone we'll get there in the end0
