Hi
Im a newbie to this site. My stats are listed below. I feel a bit fidgety today but nothing to get stressed about. I am doing this cold turkey, and so far so good. I am taking this one day at a time, even 5 minutes at a time. I have been smoking for 32 years approx 25 a day, more at weekends. I have had many failed attempted quits in the past, but now I am determined to get a grip of this for once and for all.
Wishing everyone all the best and keep strong- WE CAN DO THIS
Chris :T
I have been quit for 1 Week, 2 Days, 6 hours, 1 minute and 45 seconds (9 days). I have saved £53.30 by not smoking 231 cigarettes. I have saved 19 hours and 15 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 16/03/2009 07:450 -
Well done you chrissy, that's a long time and a lot of fags.0

Yep, it is a long time, I think I smoked myself to a stand still until I couldnt smoke anymore ! I feel really well , I wish I had done this years ago instead of faffing around stopping and starting and stopping and starting.
Anyway, I am doing it now , and long may it continue !

I'm one day behind you Chrissy and smoked the same amount of cigarettes as you for the same amount of time. The first week does seem like for ever, but is nothing when you think about the rest of your smoke-free life
(That's me trying to be really positive
).
Good luck and let's all do it this time :j

Hi ,Good luck to you Mimi, Can you imagine how many fags and how much we have spent in those 32 years. I dont know whether I could bear to know the answer ! Heres to our smoke free life - Doesnt it feel good not to be a slave anymore ? I have been trying to put money away in a jar, but I have taken some out for little treats (well its got to be done) and then written on a piece of paper what I have bought, nothing very expensive , just maybe a nice bubble bath etc, but its nice to see your money go on something other than fags
Keep strong

Hi guys,
Good to see all those still going strong, Today is my DAY 17...I have been ok, some days forgetting to put a patch on until 5 in the evening but then today I'm like a woman possessed. The slightest little thing has me ready to explode. I wonder if I'm just approaching PMT time and finding it harder without those foul ciggies??? (sorry to all you boys reading this!!!). Anyone else struggling especially during 'that time of the month'??
Other than that all the other horrid symptons seem to be disappearing, throat still a bit sore but a lot better, chest clear now and breathing seems to be improving which I was really looking forward to. My skin seems clearer and my hair is no longer lifeless. The constipation I suffered at first has even gone...(again sorry, such a charming thing to mention!!!).

Well done Chrissy! :T I think if I'd have tried "cold turkey" I'd be back on the fags by now
Taking it one day at a time really helps for me, I just tell myself every morning "I'm not going to smoke today", then it doesn't feel like such a mammoth task!

I agree Chrissie ... it's horrific when you start to think about all that money "up in smoke" and also imagining what damage we've been doing to ourselves in the process . I keep thinking about my body repairing itself (lungs in particular), especially when the odd cravings creep in after a meal/with a glass of wine, etc. Think it's a good idea to limit alcohol at this early stage as it can really weaken your resolve!
Not smoking and consistently going outside in the garden for one has added about two hours to the day as well ... another bonus :T
