Had a really bad night with my youngest again. He is really poorly.
Just feel shattered. I know smoking wouldn't help but somehow feeling lousy takes away a lot of my motivation.
At the moment it's the sheer fact that I've gone 3 weeks without a fag that's keeping me going. If I start again now I'll have gone through all this for nothing!0 -
Phew - a full 7 days without one. Still can't shake the empty feeling and a couple of times when I've been to the shop I half-thought about buying ciggies - but quickly remembered my reasons and didn't. Don't know why as the craving for an actual cig isn't there - its just a BIG EMPTY feeling. I'm eating shedloads and going to the gym a lot to try and fill it. Should I just ride it out without these - get the feeling I may be getting into big comforting eating territory.

I think your body does get used to them to a degree, however on some days the nausea was overwhelming. Mostly though if you make sure you eat before taking them you don't really suffer too much.
I was worried around days 5-7, as I wasn't getting the 'switch' moment people often discuss. However once you get on to the blue fellas on day 8 it should hit you, or soon thereafter. I gave up on Day 9, a day earlier than I had planned.
I have to admit that now on day 18 I have decided to see how I get on without them. I have my repeat prescription in hand in case I need them. I have managed to get by since day 14 on the odd ones I had forgotten to take, average of 1 (instead of the normal 2) a day. So far so good - I think they must have done the trick already. For the sake of the relatively slight discomfort of the side effects I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. :money:Barclaycard £2870 @ 0% until Oct 09Tesco Finance £2150 @ 0% until Feb 10£5,020 / £10,560 (LBM - August 2008)~SMOKE FREE SINCE 14/03/090 -
Can't believe I've gone this far without one ... think about them loads still and keep imagining inhaling and remembering what it felt like  Appetite like a horse ... it's almost as if I daren't stop eating 'cos I know I'll want a ciggie  (I can sympathise Jon!). I'm being kind to myself this month, but will get into gear next month and cut down/exercise a little, though I'm very limited to what I can do, so will have to walk loads.
I feel pretty awful ... sore throat, coughing like mad at night which is keeping me awake, irritable and fat! It's as if it's all designed to make you go back to smoking. Just have to stay focused, not have one today and imagine my body repairing itself making it pointless having "just that one" and having to start all over again
Good luck to all those who've fallen "off the waggon" ... you can do it if I canWins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -

Well done Jon.
Exactly the same for me - I've had that same empty feeling (and not a desire to smoke), during which I often end up eating something but generally try and resist doing anything to avoid developing new habits in place of the old ones! If you're going to eat (which you will!) make sure you prepare for it, so you're not eating packet after packet of crisps.
Go to the supermarket and buy lots of celery / carrots / cucumber, chop in to strips, then when you get the urge you can munch on a few of those. I've found them very satisfying, and great for at work.
I never used to eat breakfast however I have made a point of doing so now. What I've realised is that previously what I mistook for nicotine pangs in the morning where actually hunger pangs, I imagine if I'd ate brekky before I wouldn't have smoked half as much!
I'm a couple of days ahead of you, and the empty feeling is now starting to wane for me, so I'd say ride it out. Let us know how you get on!Barclaycard £2870 @ 0% until Oct 09Tesco Finance £2150 @ 0% until Feb 10£5,020 / £10,560 (LBM - August 2008)~SMOKE FREE SINCE 14/03/090 -
I found this weekend quite hard.
I did a car boot sale on Sunday morning and when I have done them in the past I just tend to stand there and smoke a lot! But I replaced it with 3 teas and a cheeseburger at 8am!
But to even think I am on day 13 is good for me, the longest I have quit for is 3 weeks so I am getting closer to that point which makes me want to get past it and stay past it.
I hope everyone has a good day.Pay off all your debt by Xmas 2012Aim £8200Total so far £3700Left £45000 -
Hi everyone,
Day 15 for me today, I have never got past day 7 so feeling very pleased with myself.
The empty feeling has now gone although I am getting concerned about my eating...I polished off 7 Rocky bars yesterday!!! Have been and stocked up on fruit this morning so will try not to munch on anything too unhealthy...back to the kick boxing I guess.
I still feel tight chested and my throat is sore but am hoping the easier breathing will kick in soon. I guess after 11 years of 20-30 a day my body will take time to get used to it.
Well done to anyone who's still given up and big hugs and luck to anyone who's trying.
Helen. xx

day 5, i'm not going to say its been easy but it certainly hasn't been hard so far. Yesterday i was out with the OH and her parents and all three of them are still smoking. They had one before we went in for the meal and straight away afterwards and i remained calm and wasn't tempted. i put a new rule in place for the OH that she can't smoke in the car anymore. We always had a rule with no smoking in the house so this shouldn't be too hard. It is something i always used to do whilst driving but with no cigarettes in the car i have no excuse to smoke.
I haven't had anymore dreams since the second night and i can't wait until wednesday morning where i hit 1 week! it will be a great achievement.
