Hi to kris from canada.
I received your PM perfectly ok Kris, but on going to reply to you, the message "kris from canada" has chosen not to receive private messages came up again. It's probably just one tick to be put in or taken out on your user CP.
We'll get there one way or another!:D
Sue
Thanks Sue,
Had a terrific week-end :j NO Stress at all.
We had friends from out of town stay over and one of them smoked and I was good with it.....:D
It was 6 weeks on Sunday, I am still trying to deal with the food end of it.
I am still constantly hungry  Does this ever go away !!!!!

I'm chuffed to bits that you've got over that hiccup adarynefordd!! Good luck with the patches and inhaler, it sounds as though both are working for you and at least you got straight back and didn't just give up quitting - far easier to do the latter - far healthier NOT to!!!;)
I do hope you can get over the feeling sick part of the champix Shelly, it can be a pest with some folk, but let's hope it'll wear off. Take note of SAS's advice about eating first.
Good luck with the practice nurse ameliarate,we look forward to seeing you back here quitting for good, or at least giving it a darn good try!
- whathavewedone hang onto this <<<"If I start again now I'll have gone through all this for nothing!">>> because it's so true and such a long way to have gone already. I do hope your little ones are soon much better, your OH too poor chap.
Jon, that "BIG EMPTY feeling" (well described) will pass soon, it's still your mind being in mourning for the 'old friend' that used to be in your life. Feel pleased that it's not and each day passed will see you gradually turn your back on it fully. Ride out the eating part as it will get better - BUT - do exercise self discipline when you know you really have had enough and are just eating for the sake of it! Water, water, water! Don't forget BIG apples! Splendid news about a week's success so far, keep in mind that you're "a non smoker"!! Yes, sneezing is the bodies way of getting the muck out, some of the sneezes come from your chest too!
So, that's 9 days free from smoking for you then SAS! Excellent news!!:j
Brilliant news about 6 days free for you too Mimi!!! :TMy words to Jon above about Water, water, water! Don't forget BIG apples are what you need to remember before you reach for more food. Try it, it really will help you so much, that way you won't get fed up to the teeth with the way you're feeling/looking. The happier we can remain the better our chances. The sore throat and coughing stage will pass soon, so keep up the walking and filling the lungs with that beautifully fresh air, far better than chucking carbon monoxide cocktails into them!!!
It sounds as though you're doing very well mumofcookers, 13 days :Tis great and at least this time you have more fellow quitters to race with! We'll do all we can to get you to AND beyond 3 weeks. You did so well at the car boot, keep strong, as you were then!
Helen, you said it all, your body will take time to get used to it, but it will and things'll settle down, especially the tightness of the chest. Congratulations on surpassing any previous tries and reaching day 15!!! Great news - the finances too!
You are really doing well Dreamingalound, 5 days is marvellous, though that first week free is such a great feeling. Keep going and stick to your rules, they're good'ns!!!
Hi fitzroy, people have talked about it the possibility of using acupuncture on our previous thread and a couple have said they tried it, but with no joy. Still, everyone's different and if you think it may help then it's well worth the try!
Good Heavens above Kris, I just never realised you'd got THAT far ahead with yours!!! 6 weeks is pretty amazing and you are right to be so thrilled at your success so far!! :T The food side can be dealt with, though for now, as the PM (glad we finally got that sorted out, well done!) shows, you need plenty of water. It's not just for the craving side of quitting but to keep using it long after they go to fill you up as well. Next time you have a hunger pang - or think you have - drink a glassful of water and go and do something and I'll bet you find you're no longer peckish. Keep that up every time as it really does work. Contrary to what some people believe, you don't need to replace one addiction with another, you simply need to be firm and well disciplined and reach for the water and a big apple!
All the very best for a brand new today folk, a day closer to the greatest goal you'll ever go for. It's a life-changing event and whilst you're all doing it for your families, your main reason for quitting is for YOU and your life, a healthy one. Go on everyone, get back to where you were x amount of years ago!!! You WILL do it, be patient and kind to yourselves.

I was worried around days 5-7, as I wasn't getting the 'switch' moment people often discuss. However once you get on to the blue fellas on day 8 it should hit you, or soon thereafter. I gave up on Day 9, a day earlier than I had planned.
Thanks for your reply, I am about to take the first blue pill now (day 8).
So far I don't physically want to smoke so much, a pack of 20 lasted me from fri to mon as opposed to one day, but I still have the urge to have one now and again.
Today is supposed to be my stop date but I don't feel quite ready for it yet. I know when I had zyban I got to a point where I wasn't thinking about smoking at all and I'm not there yet on Champix. Hopefully after these blue tablets that should come pretty soon.
I am having the tablets after eating and having a full glass or water with them too, but I will have to get used to the nausea. I am also getting the vivid dreams, but I don't mind that bit, dreaming (and sleeping) is my absolute favorite thing to do lol!!
Edit: Had the tablet a little while ago, ewwww pass me the sick bucket, this is horribleWell I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -
day 6!
i hope everyone is doing well today. Sue thank you for the PM it helped on the weekend. Yesterday i was fine at work until i got home. Suddenly i became moody and short tempered with my OH. Very unlike me, so i said its probably due to the smoking and its been a hard day (even though it hadn't) and i went for a run. After 15 minutes i came home and everything was fine again. I do find all little things are annoying me right now where they didn't before but maybe thats because i'm not taking 5 minute time outs like i used too and need to think of a new way to relax?
I can't wait to get to the 1 week stage tomorrow, i am enjoying not smoking at the moment, i like my hands not smelling, i like my clothes not smelling and i have stopped coughing now which is nice, but i do keep sneezing. My throat no longer hurts (i had a bad throat for 5 days and thats why i stopped smoking)
Good luck today everyone, keep up the god workMortgage overpayments 2009

I joined the last thread sometime back in October last year when I had a half hearted and short lived attempt at stopping smoking.
I attended an Allen Carr EasyWay clinic last Friday and things are going really well. The book, unfortunately did not work for me and I had got to the stage where the money issue was bothering me big time but also future health issues, social aspects and, well, all of it really. I managed to get a discount of a clinic price and thought that might do the trick.
So far so good, my mindset is good, I am not missing anything, what is there to miss?
Today I have started to sneeze and cough and have a bit of a dodgy throat but that only makes me feel good as I know I am ridding myself of the poison.
I have never felt so positive about anything and I know now it's because there is not going to be a void in my life as I don't think of it like that any more. I have not done anything different, I have not avoided 'triggers' as that is just my mind playing tricks on me. On day one I was drinking wine and was okay. I have not eaten any more food or changed my routine bar getting up a little later as I'm no longer spending time smoking about 3 fags before leaving for work.

Hi all. Haven't been here for a bit and thought I'd pop back and see how everyone's getting on. So good to see you're still helping everyone Sue - it means such a lot when you know someone's been there his or herself.
I gave up mid-November last year and happy to say I'm now a very nearly happy non-smoker.
Its great to see so many quitting that controlling weed, and controlling it is. This was one of the (many) reasons I gave up as I felt out of control. I do still get the odd pangs, or rather a 'need' for something. In my case I'm afraid I've succumbed to peanuts - can't stop eating the things! I read somewhere last week that apparently salt is addictive, so that's something else to give up.
I think it helps to try and think of the positive reasons to give up rather than facing the fear negative reasons bring. I think Allen Carr sums this up brilliantly in his book. He certainly helped me.
Please keep going everyone, and pat yourselves on the back. If I can stop after 45 years, so can anyone!0 -
Thanks for popping back Mintoze ... it's always great to hear success stories and inspires us "beginners" to keep going.
When I finished Allen Carr's book, I wasn't sure if it had "worked" as such, but I'm still going on day 7 and am determined not to give in to temptation. I often hear his words ringing in my ears and keep the book close at hand for reference.
I had to laugh when I read about your consumption of peanuts/salt ... my weakness is cashew nuts/salt, can't get enough of them  Not beating myself up too much about excess snacking at the moment though. (I'm also eating clementines and drinking lots of water Sue).
Thanks again ... you're an inspiration :AWins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
Well done to all of you, just a quick update on my situation.
Doctor happy to prescribe Champix, however I am still waiting for appointment for smoking cessation clinic coming through, couldn't get prescription unless i agreed to go to this, whilst I am happy to attend this clinic, I am rather unhappy at needing to wait to stop smoking. I feel i am ready now but know if i try without help I will fail. Seems daft needing to wait to stop smoking..
or is that just my impatience showing through? Anyone any ideas how long it takes? I just wanna get started trying to stop!4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
