I'm sure what will help me is KNOWING what it's like to be non-addicted and having fairly recent memories of this. After a while you don't even think about it and can get through ANYTHING without the desire to smoke, which you just can't imagine at the moment, but it will happen.

I still kick myself for starting again when I really didn't need to. I'd been through a horrendous time at home with my partner becoming ill and it wasn't 'til we were OVER the crisis that I started again  At the time, I didn't even think about lighting up ...

Off out soon, so best of luck with the rest of the day ... you know you can do it. Allen Carr's words are ringing in my ears ... all you have to do is NOT have that cigarette!

This is a very strange learning curve for me, I have never got as far along as this before.

Same as me, I have never got beyond a day before. If I can get this far (Im on day 11 now) so can you,the further on you get you really do become determined not to have one.Its like having a little argument in your head every time you think I'll just have one.......I did slip up last week and had half of one....it really wasnt worth it:confused:

Anyway day 11 for me today and the thinking about cigarettes has been overtaken by waking up with toothache. Not just any old toothache may I add but my wisdom tooth has flared up again, which means half my jaw/face is throbbing and my glands are all swollen....Im a bit of a wimp with pain and have been twice as snappy to everyone today
Whats quite funny though is its actually a releif to have something to take my mind off smoking!
The last few days I have noticed a definite change in my tastebuds....we eat quite a lot of spicy food but some things im usually ok with have blown my head off! Also what I thought was one of my favourite cheap wines actually now tastes quite rancid...shame ive got 2 more bottles of it!
Went to bed early again last night as felt a bit wobbly with it all again but its definetly getting a bit easier!
Well done everyone, stick with me, we can do it!
WHWD im sure youll be just fine without your patches soon....def the hardest bit for me is breaking the habits xx

I haven't read through the whole post but I managed to give up 4 years ago with the help of Hypnotherapy and just had to have one sessions to be free of the nasty habbit.

One thing I did do though was to put £5 a day into a bottle and after 3 months I took the money out and treated myself to a present, its funny how much it helps and how much you can see that you are saving.

Does the hypnotherapy stop you having all the horrible cravings?

I would highly recommend it Ameliarate and gave up for nearly a year. I did some research and found one who specialised in stopping smoking. I've smoked for 32 years and average 20 - 30 a day. One session did it for me at a cost of £250 two years ago.

I still got cravings, but they really weren't that bad and the little voice in my head told me I couldn't smoke and was always much "louder" than the one telling me I could. You have to be mentally ready and prepared to stop for good.

You just have to remind yourself that you can't have "just the one" ... my big mistake . By the way, hynotherapy is how Allen Carr managed to stop I gather.

I think each person is different, I had hypnotherapy a couple of years ago and I walked out, got home and had a cigarette
I have read Allen Carrs book twice now and think that works pretty much the same way 'Brainwashing your subconcious' However I just dont seem to be able to succumb very well to this method.Like I say were all different and what works for one doesnt work for another. I think its about finding the correct method that suits you.
Ive never felt so determined as I am this time around I think I have realised there is no magic cure to stop smoking.....(I secretley hoped there was!)
Just carry on doing your absolute best and remind yourself wh yyou want to do it

Well - I've been irritable as hell all day and got a letter from Royal Sun Alliance requesting £32 for contents insurance that I thought I'd cancelled. GRRRR - didn't get too stroppy on the phone. Got quite angry as well. Still reading Allen Carr and went to the gym - didn't really feel like a cigarette and haven't had one. Presume its the nicotine monster rising up!!!
