Ross, I'm so sorry to hear about your little friend being so poorly, a very sad part of being a pet owner of all of us who share their love know so well. I hope your Vet's not right. We lost our dear Sally (a yellow Lab) in August, though she was 15 and had suffered very little until arthritis set in badly. We now have Jessie, a lovely black Lab and a little corker, nothing like our dear Sal, but we wouldn't want her to be anyway, they all have different traits which make them unique, just as you sweetheart is to you. Love her to bits is all I can suggest, Ross....not that you couldn't NOT do, but you know what I mean. Thank Heaven you gave up smoking when you did!!!
Sue, it is so sad when you have to say goodbye to one of your pets, they are like one of the family, mine is a black flat coat retriever, i rehomed her when she was 8 months old (she was abandoned so I took her home, no one came forward), and your right you would not want your pet any other way, I am hoping the vet is wrong, but only time will tell.itselliebell wrote: »so sorry to hear about your doggy ross, that's where some of my money saved has gone too, my little kitty was diagnosed with epilepsy, but took £100 to get there! don't worry yourself too much, my SIL has a 14 year old shar pei who was diagnosed with a particularly severe form of lung cancer 3 years ago, and she still thinks she's a pup to this day!
itselliebell, if your like me you are seeing it as money well spent, nothing is worse than seeing your pet sad and/or in pain, is your kitty insured? luckily Bonny is insured so I only have to pay the first £60, reading about your SIL Shar Pei reminds me of my girl, up until last week she was bouncing around, anyone would have thought she was a young Lab and not a flat coat lol.dundeedoll wrote: »So sorry to hear about your dog, Ross. It's heartbreaking when you're told your pet has an illness. I do hope that she will be ok.
My thought are with you and Miss Mutt. DD x
Dundee, I must admit I LOL'd when you called her Miss Mutt, and will admit I have called her that today lol, everyday for the past 4 days I have been trying to get her to eat, and today I have managed, after nearly 3 hours of sitting with her, and trying different foods she loves, she finally ate something, YAY :j
I am so thankful to have such great friends on this board who know what it is like to not only give up smoking, but also to have a pet in distress, for that I can not thankyou enough :A
Lots of Love to you all and a Merry Christmas

champix - 14 weeks, saved around £700+
hi everyone, i thought i would pop in again and say hi, and wish everyone a very happy christmas and to thank everyone for the support they have given me.
well the 14 weeks have flown by and i dont even think of the cigs now. the thought of even paying for some annoys me. especially the amount of tax we pay to this crappy government.................... but hey, thats another story.
i am sooooooooooooooooooooo glad i stopped smoking, i had the will power to quit this time, but i must admit i think champix also played an important factor in me quitting.
i am really confident i will never smoke again. ive saved a lot of money also by quitting but ive had a lot to pay out lately, car trouble lol - time for a new car next year.
have a great christmas everyone, i will keep popping in when i am home to update you all.
p.s for anyone wanting to quit - the hardest thing imo is day 1, and actually committing to the quit date and sticking to it , after day 1 it does get easier. a lot or most of it is also habit, not needing or wanting a cig, its just something we do out of habit. whenever i drove i had a cig when i had a coffee i had a cig or even 2 with it, if i got stressed i smoked etc etc0 -
Hi everyone, just popping in to see how everyone is and let you all know im still going great :j
Everyone is doing brilliantly, well done! Im so so glad I dont have to stand outside in that snow to smoke, its awful! Im really thankful that I have managed to quit. And according to my silk quit meter I have saved just over £200! I have spent it on my girls christmas presents, cant wait to see their faces on christmas morning! After christmas i am goin to try to save and get my debts sorted out. il maybe have a look at the sealed pot challenge thread as well if you dont mind sue?
Thanks to everyone on this thread, it has been such a great help! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! And wont it be great when we are all starting the new year smoke free!!!

Alan, that is the very best news, a joy to view! :T:j:T You've been a brick from Day 1!! Keep reminding yourself of your health IF ever you should be tempted, but I truthfully don't think you'll ever want to go down that track again. You're way too wise! All the best with your car - iPhone too if you've bought it yet.
You have a wonderful Christmas too...and a Healthy, Smoke-Free life too!I love your last paragraph! See you soon, Alan.

hi ross, unfortunately my little kitty hasn't had an easy life so far! he was to be put down at a few weeks old due to a very bad kidney infection, my SIL offered to foster him and see him through it, then her neighbour took him in when he was ready, sadly he passed away a few months ago, so i took the poor little blighter in, then after being with me 2 weeks he started fitting every 4 or 5 days. i hadn't even considered insurance as he hadn't been vaccinated or neutered. it's not so bad though, his medication seems to be working, and it's only £3.39 every 4 weeks, well worth it for his cuddles, although sometimes he's not so keen and seems to forget he's my pet, i'm not his people! haha.
hopefully she'll pull through ross, and like i say to my SIL (who has 3 dogs and 3 cats) if the worst does happen, how lucky was she to have an owner like you who loved her so much? unfortunately it is something we all have to recognise as pet owners, we will probably outlive them, but it just means we can give them the best possible life from beginning to end!0 -
I've quit smoking now 3 months and i used an electronic cigarette called Smart Cigarettes. Works out bloody cheap compared to my normal malboro's. I recon i get about 7 fags worth of smoking out of one refill cartridge. Each week i find myself puffing on it less and less and its just vapour so no stinky smoke. Its great you should try it. If anyone is interested just google search Smart Cigarettes and you should find it. It sold by a U.K based company and i found them to be very helpfull and fast delivery. good luck:A0

Your right Sue, she has had the best life I could have given hershe seems a little happier today, but still no improvement, she is due to be 'admitted' into the vets surgery tomorrow for xrays and scans etc, so hopefully my insurance kicks in soon lol :rotfl:

Sue,
Thankyou so much for your kind words, Bonny is now 8 years and 1 month old, when I left her at the vets this morning, I had told myself that I was not bringing her home (worst case preperation), so am overjoyed and can not wait to pick her up tomorrow
I have put a picture of her in my Avatar, as thats all i know to do lol, bit of a poor pic but will have to do for now lol
I too have a rotten cold, its awful isnt it, although at least I do not have flu or winter D&V!
