At last its arrived. 16th Dec 2010 1 yr today since I quit the evil weed so its party time for me now all day today. Celebrating thoroughly clean lungs, breath, hair, clothes, house, car ... etc etc!
Big thanks to the all the people on here who helped me so much in the early part of my quit especially Sue and Larmy, total life savers!! :A
Not for one minute do I regret picking up those patches in boots last yr (they were reduced to 50p):money: and deciding to quit. Its not been the easiest thing in the world to do but its certainly not been the hardest either, I found that knowing the craving was only gonna last for five mins then it`d be gone was what spured me on, could cope with a tough five mins Im a grown woman I can multi-task:rotfl:would just do something else when a craving came ..like eat!
Yes I have put on a stone and a half over the last 12 months but luckily for me me I was a skinny malinky anyway so while Im embracing my new found fuller figure, I might look to reduce it a bit over the next year !!
To eveyone who comes on this forum for support "good luck" it was thee best thing Ive ever done and there is no way I would have made it this far without this forum.
Thank once again for all the supportSmoke free since 16th Dec 2009

Fee100 - that is fantastic, what a wonderful Christmas present to yourself to be 1 year free. If I have helped in anyway, it makes me feel so happy. I love that we are all here for each other.
Scarey, I have much respect for you to quit again. It takes a special kind of courage to attempt to again when you think you have failed. Like I always say we only have two choice, to quit or to carry on and I know we all feel terrified that we might have to continue this dangerous and illogical activity for the rest of our lives.!!
KingL - keep it up, good to see you on the board.
Copper - so glad you are getting into the swing of your quit again. It's so good to see you just get back on the horse or I may be confusing you with Jammy, if so sorry and hello Jammy.
Ross, thanks for all the support you are giving us. Together we can beat this horrible monster.
Also thanks to Su who I always call the mother hen though I know she doesn't like it much!:p;)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Ross, thanks for all the support you are giving us. Together we can beat this horrible monster.
Larmy, thankyou for your kind post
I put this down to 2 things:-
1) My desire to quit
2) My job, as a Mental Health Nurse I spend my days providing support etc to my patients, and I Simply can not seem to switch that off lol
I hope everyone is doing well and getting well prepared for crimbo time .... I have today finished my present shopping...once again spending waaaaaaaay too much but its once a year lol

hi im new to this site , saw this thread and thought i would add my piece. i was a smoker for a good 32 years. as like most of you iv tried to stop over the years with patches and gum but was a no go... then one morning i woke up and thought id had enough of struggling to feed my habit, so went to see the quit somking nurse, i was given champix to see how i got on with them.. had my doubts in my head that it was nt going to work for me BLAH BLAH BLAH!! lol . so i started taking them and was told i needed to stop smoking between day 8 and 14, think i got to day 9 had one puff off a cig and throw it cos the taste was horrid.. and iv not smoked since.. lol seems wierd people walking past smelling of smoke and i think god did i really smell that bad. lol.. think the only side affect i had from using champix was feel a bit sicky for about half n hour after taking them.. i would recommend anyone wanting to stop smoking to try champix ... it does nt always work for everyone who taking it, but it worked for me ..good luck to you all who are stopping smoking0

Also thanks to Sue who I always call the mother hen though I know she doesn't like it much!:p;)
Ahhh, thanks, Larmy, actually I think I'm quite warming to it now. I've been called a lot worse, so won't be grumbling at the reference to a chicken! :A
Very Many Congratulations on a FULL YEAR being FREE from fags, FEE!!!!!:T:T:T:j:T:T As soon as I saw your name on the notification in my In box, I knew exactly what you were back for and I'm absolutely tickled pink for you having gone through your journey to having QUIT!!!You and all those like you who've succeeded here have worked at it like fury - and what a pay off!
The part I have to agree wholehearedly with is when you said that you knew that when a craving came you only had to wait a few minutes til it was gone - and that is so very true! If everyone here now views it like that, they'll sail through it all and be chuffed to bits! Many congratulations, FEE, enjoy your party and your success because, by eck you deserve it! Don't forget to keep coming back though as it really does help give folk enthusiasm and know it's possible!
Wonderful news, jammy, you're doing yourself proud!! :T:T I'm sure it's only because of your hick-up that it feels harder than last time, try to wipe that bit away from your mind...you know you'll do it THIS time!!
6 weeks is marvellous, copperjar!!! :T:T Though I never expect to see people here constantly, it's always good to see people pleased with how they're doing and I'm really pleased for you and proud of you! Well done, copperjar and thanks for letting us know.
Ross, I have to agree with Larmy's words about you "Ross, thanks for all the support you are giving us. Together we can beat this horrible monster." She's very right, and you're such a help - to others and to yourself!
Very well done indeed, billieCBR!!! :T:T It's always good to have feedback to help people know what others think of any NRTs, so thanks so much for all you've said about Champix, a great help indeed. All the very best in quitting - for LIFE!!!!
Keep it going everyone, you're another step closer to that goal and so many of you have come such a long way. Be proud and praise yourself all you can as you've achieved so much - so far - you CAN do the rest!!!
