Just what I was expecting from you jammy!! :D Taking it full on again and keeping active so you don't dwell on things. All the best with getting down south with your friend - glad you'll be staying 'with us' too. :)

Very well done indeed, debie!!! :T You're looking at it in completely the right way. Keep doing exactly that and good health will be YOURS!!! :D
i'll think, well i'm going out on sat night, so i might want one then, and would i be able to have just the one or would it be a slippery slope.

Congratulations on having stayed free from fags for a whole 2 months, itselliebell.!!! :T:T However, though I think I know what you mean, please don't ever be drawn into "just one puff or just one cig"! You'll definitely be on the slippery slope - DOWN! :(
it scares me to imagine never smoking again, because to be honest, i quit for money reasons more than anything, and didn't really resent them, apart from how much they cost!

It's a real shame you quit for money reasons only, as it may be a 'pull' when you get back on top of your finances. Try hard to focus on your health and what you might be like IF you were one day to start again and have enough cash to keep on smoking. Please read "mustkeephoping's" posts, she has dire health problems - all due to fags and what they do to us IF we allow them to! I thought I'd be scared never to smoke again - oh how wrong I was. It's still a bit of lingering fear within you ellie, it'll pass. All the best ellie, especially of health! ;)

That pretty much applies to you also, Ross, though I believe you have your health in mind as well as the money. Please keep health at the forefront of your mind always! :)

Another great day everyone, you're all doing well...all you need to do now is to STAY that way! :)

  • Hi all

My sleeping pattern has gone out the window again. Im pleased to report another smoke free day. Im still getting cravings but, am coping (well sort of). Is anybody suffering with anxiety at all?. Im feeling very depressed and anxious. Ive been to see my dr and got some tabs. No improvment yet.

    Hope everybody is doing ok

  • Hey everyone...still going strong here and glad to see there are some new faces here AND some old ones :)

I still get cravings sometimes, but most of the time don't even think about cigarettes unless I see someone smoke on the TV or it's the time i'd 'usually' go for a cigarette break or something. Driving home from work seems to be a flashpoint for me, but I just reach for the e-cig if it gets too bad. Recently, though, I've found myself going a week or more without even using that, and only 'caving' after a few drinks. So that's hopeful.

Glad to see you're still going strong, Dazco. I seem to remember we gave up at around the same time :)

Good luck to everyone just starting out. This forum can help you as much as you'll let it!

    Be strong.

Hi Jojo, and very well done on staying as a non-smoker throughout the sleeping problems and the anxiety. What tablets did your Dr give you - sleeping one, you mean? If no then try "Kalms" a natural remedy that so many quitters have found to be a real help in getting over the sleeplessness. Give them a try and see how they help you.

For many folk, the further they come away from their quit date they start then to realise that "I'm actually a NON-SMOKER"!!!! ....but can I really stay that way??? Then the (often quite unnecessary) doubts kick in and the fears come back...even though it's all due to initial excitement. A lot of it also is the nicotin'es power in the brain still trying to get you to weaken...but you're not going to!!! See it all for what it is Jojo and shove it away - it doesn't belong in your world so don't open the door to it!! Any more sleepless night, put on some relaxing music, have a warm drink, then slide back into bed. :)
I wish you well ....we ALL do!! Never forget that Jojo, you've one heck of a backing group here. :D

Fantastic news and many congratulations, Thrifty Pixie!!!! :T:T:T You've done marvellously and seem to be finding out, as we all do, that the further on you get the less impact the 'feelings' have - don't they ever soon pass off too!!! Our Daz is mainly here in a helping capacity these days, dar good he is too - though blunt with it - which is good too! :D OK, so own up - who of us has old faces????????!!! ;) Keep up that amazing work Pixie, you're well on your way! :D

    See you late all.

Itselliebell you have read my mind as thats is exactly what goes through my mind about quitting, its scary to think that I will never smoke again, and like yourself I didnt really resent it, I just got fed up with the smell, the cost and the lack of health.

But together we can do this :)

    Ross xx

thanks Ross, that's really encouraging to know it's normal to be a little scared of never smoking again! but you're right, there's so much encouragement here, that we can do it together :D

Sue, i defin-toot-ly will keep your advise with me, i know i can't have just the onepuff or cig, as that's where i fell down the last two times. it can never be just the one!

    champix - 11 weeks smokefree !!!!!!!!!!

well i completed the 12 week course of champix last week, and i havent smoked for 11 weeks now.
saved probably £600, and treated myself to an iphone with the money. paid cash for it from apple. probably not a good mse thing to buy but sod it ! i wanted one and justified it by giving up smoking.

its honestly been easy imo, a few cravings but nothing too bad at all. i put the success down to champix as i have failed in the past with other methods.
the hardest day was my quit date to be honest - not knowing what to do etc with my time i guess, a lot is honestly habit - i did not want or need one, its just what i did at certain times.

i will keep updating you all - thanks for the massive support.

and keep up the good work everyone.

....Same has to be said for all those viewing the thread and wondering if YOU too could do it.....the answer is YES, so long as you keep right on trying! :)

I have to agree with Sue here. I spent the whole YEAR before I managed to quit, trying. I tried so much stuff, patches, gum, hypnosis, easyway (even going to the sessions!) and in the end it was champix that did it for me. It's partly down to finding out what works for you, but also you have to want to do it. It is possible. I smoked for 20 years 20-30 a day and am now coming up to 2 years smoke free.

BTW, a few pages back; people were talking about gum problems. I'm also experiencing this. Since I quit I've had bleeding gums. My dentist showed me my last x-rays and they are appalling. I have lost bone density in my gums due to smoking. Smoking however tends to mask these problems. Get flossing people ;)

Hi again Naomi and thanks so much for that, for updating your time free too, it really helps everyone to know that if others can do it "So can I!!" You've been fantastic since you quit and I'm chuffed to bits that you became a QUITTER!! :T:T:T :D Lovely to see you again...don't forget us and all the very best with your teeth and gums. At least that too is another warning to others watching in. :)

Congratulations Alan!!! :T:T:T What an achievement and what a present for yourself in the iPod and..why not! You really deserved that gift to yourself, though the gift of a healthier life is by far the greater! :)

Keep on battling at it everyone, like Alan and Naomi - YOU too will get there soon enough! Look how happy they are!
