DD, that almost sounds wicked flinging her into your bed - can't you afford a hot water bottle??? Mind your toe-nails don't pierce her!!!
You're so welcome jammy, if we can't help each other out then it's a rotten world - which it isn't - just the folk in it at times! Your chickens sound perfectly placed for the winter, for having a good scratch around too. We have 8 and the eggs are delicious. Had 2 poached on toast for lunch today - gorgeous!
Ross, we're too low down- so far. I absolutely LOVE it too, though we did have a lovely light covering of it on Friday night. Our friends in BC, Canada are snowed in and HATE it, well not so much the snow but the after effects, though it'll be a long time til theirs is gone!
Ross, your signature is amazing, a lot of thought's gone into that, which it tremendous.
I'll be back later folks, keep on the right road...in a smoke-free zone.

Hi guys
Just wanted to check in - I always seem to post and run, but I do read all the messages! Well done to everyone still going strong and thanks to Sue as usual for her unbelievable support and encouragement :T
Well, I'm still smoke free and its getting a bit easier, although I nearly succumbed a couple of times last week. The news was bad about my job - my post has basically been scrappedBecause its a local authority I work for, there is 90 days consultation then 90 days notice, so I have until 1st July before my job is officially gone. As I'm sure you can imagine, this news brought thoughts of smoking to the forefront of my mind, but I'm quite proud that I didn't give in! Strangely, the snow coming also tempted me with fags - it brought back memories of last year, walking to the local shop with my ex for "essentials" - i.e milk, choclolate and ciggies!! But I stayed strong (and its very nice not to have to stand outside in the freezing cold getting my fix!).
I'm now starting to worry a bit about coming off the Champix. Last time I "quit", by this time in I was forgetting to take my tablets and really felt that I didn't need them. I'd basically gone down to one a day...but even then, only if I remembered. This time I take them religiously am and pm - I'm worried that when I come off them totally, I might start again. Because the cravings are still there this time.[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000 -
Sorry Peeps
Been really really busy but have been dipping in to see how you are all getting on - well done all !!!!
I am truly amazed how many of us are making this life changing decision together right now, often at a very difficult and stressful time in our lives, and what wonderful support and encouragement there is on this thread.
I'm still going, when I do get a little "moment" which is very very rarely these days, the vision I now have of me smoking is seeing myself keeling over, coughing and vomitting, and that is enough is a truly frightening thought !! To be perfectly honest I don't think my lungs could survive without further really serious damage through another winter with me smoking.
Hubby who has also quit (cold turkey) is doing really, really well also, neither of us miss it and the house is much warmer without us both in and out all day for our fix (letting the cold in) so hopefully we'll see a reduction in fuel bills.
I also didn't realise until I quit how we used to "smell" - don't get me wrong I have impeccable personal hygiene but whenever I am stood next to a smoker I think "Oh dearie me if only you knew what you stink like" Don't get me wrong I am not getting above myself but I do have to smile to myself and admit to feeling quite smug.
I have finished re washing/dry cleaning ALL our clothes including coats and our wardrobes smell wonderful.
Sorry if I've focused on the "smellies" apart from the obvious health advantages, but I really do find the smell of cigarette smoke, fresh or stale truly disgusting.
Please keep going everyone, whatever your reason for quitting I hope you will embrace all the wonderful benefits of being a non-smoker.
Take Care All and keep warm

Ok im ready to crack up here, Iv just spent ages writing out a msg and it disappeared, so I typed it again and lost it too
well hopefully 3rd time lucky:rotfl:
Am pleased to say that in an hours time i will be 2 weeks smoke free :j I didnt wear a patch today either and I have to say I havnt felt any different to the other days so Im very pleased but I wont get too over excited! Iv had the odd craving but so far so good!
Hi jammy, im so very sorry to hear of your marriage break up. You have reminded us how easy it can be to get hooked back on the cigs. I know it is disappointing to have to start over again but I think it makes your resolve stronger for the next time. I have quit smoking for a year and started again (twice!) and im so determined not to do that again. I want to stay stopped for good this time!
DD where is the thread for crocheting? I have started doing my knitting again. I take a notion every few months but I never get very much done lol! I started about 4yrs ago and I so far I have knitted a quarter of a scarf and the back of a kids jumper :rotfl: I decided to knit the jumper for my 2yr old girl but am going to turn it into a handbag now saying as she is 6 :rotfl:Is crocheting any quicker or easier than knitting? I get bored if my project doesnt take shape quickly lol!
Iv put my tree up today its so exciting and lovely and christmassy with all the snow, I cant wait!:xmastree:

I knew I had forgot something! Sorry copperjar, i meant to say im sorry to hear about your job. On the bright side at least you have a good few months to comtemplate your next move, you might even find a job you like even better! good luck! and well done resisting the cravings. I had to smile when you said how the snow reminds you of going to the shop to get your cigs, its so funny how little things trigger our memorys. I seem to look back on things like that fondly when probably in reality I was saying to myself "oh for petes sake iv to leave the nice warm house to go out in the cold to get my stupid cigs!"
Mustkeephoping we must have been posting at the same time! Another inspirational post from you and its so true what your saying about the smell it is awful!! I was walking to school with the kids the other day and someone walked past me smoking and i nearly was sick! I feel so so so horrible that I used to have the odd cig while pushing my daughters pram. how ashamed i feel about that nowNEVER AGAIN!!
Well done everyone, heres to another week smoke free :j:j:j
