Please everyone: Don't forget to put the amount of time free from fags in the Title bar of your posts, along with the method used to stop i.e. Cold turkey, Patches, Champix etc. It helps us all to know how far you've come, it helps others too. :) Thanks a lot.

I was doing SO well ..no real excuses i should of started reading my posts but no i picked up cigarettes :o
...I had "survived " soooooooo many hurdles inc my personnal 3 month mile stone and my dd going off to uni ..the straw that broke my back was when OH and i seperated after nearly 20 years of marriage and the evil weed raised its head and i foolishly took the bait ....

but i am back i have dusted well am dusting myself off emotionally , and i am NOT going to live my life as a smoker ...i really didnt want to pick that packet up again and i am frightened by how quickly the old habit and ways kicked in again

it has helped my desicion to stop now as i have 2 feet of snow lying outside and there was me puffing away thinking ..what the hell are you doing this again for , one thing i hated was the hold fags had and being outside shivering to have that fix ....it takes over ones life but NO MORE ......

so im grasping the nettle have gum at the ready if i need hopefullly like last time , can manage pretty much without i used about 4 pieces of gum during first 2 days then went it alone ......well ...when i say alone it was iwth the support of all you lovely guys on this thread .... am starting my smoke free journey once more ..:)

    Hi jammy dodger,
I've actually been up to bed but couldn't sleep so came down and read your post. I just HAD to sign in to reply!

Firstly :T on your 91/2 months of not smoking.
Secondly, really sorry to hear of you and OH seperating. I have split with my OH and am just starting to feel a bit better - however, I did stop smoking just after the break up. Amazed myself!!

You know it doesn't actually make it better............and you want to stop again.............and you've come back on here..............That's 3 very positive decisions made already! :T

Judging by your post it won't be long 'til you forget about your little detour and are off on the smoke free journey again :)

You don't need luck.............your determination is what will get you there!

Hi Catherine and very well done indeed!!! :T:T A difficult question to answer as you're still in earlyish days - BUT - give it a try by all means and see how you go. Any cravings - real or in the mind - then see how they go and if you're anywhere near thinking of "just one puff or oh, bu**er it, I'll have one"" GO BACK ON THEM - please!!!! For any cravings, sip a glass of water, breathe un and out slowly, but deeply about 10 times or go for a walk, eat an apple or peal an orange, run upstairs, get the washing in even if there's none out - ANYTHING until it passes and it will, sooner than you think. You seem to be keeping busy anyway, stay that way as it helps a heck of a lot. Keep giving up - but - never give in!!! ;) Good luck Catherine and please let us know what's happening? Sue x

Jojo, that is so very, very good for you and I was thrilled to bits on reading your post!!! :T:T Oh, it does make such a huge difference to debts - health too mind! Keep right on crocheting Jojo, it's doing you a power of good and distracting you. I really am proud of how far you've come!!! :)

Whoops! Sorry DD! :o Though to be really honest, I don't often put mine on for fear folk just might think I'm bragging. Any way, well done on getting away from your sticky day or two!! :T:T

Oh jammy, what can I say. You've truthfully just had me in tears on reading that. It was such a shock for YOU, jammy! However, I think that after all you've been through and especially separating after nearly 20 years of marriage (!!) I can see why it would have rocked you and set you back all that way.

However, we're not going to dwell on things past, we refuse to  - it's the future that needs focusing on now and I know full well you'll do it again! :D Your sig may look a little glum at present, but you know how fast the time went last time and soon enough you'll be so proud of the one you will have again! If anyone can get through this again jammy, I just KNOW it's YOU!!!!! ;) Be proud of yourself for coming back and starting over and welcome home and to the non-smoking world! :)

Well everyone, as you can see from poor jammy's post, you never, ever need to let your guard down or become complacent....or listen to friends. Be strong, focused and stay as YOU - the ex-smoker!!

That's why it's so amazing that you STILL give up so much of your time on here!

Yep, it was that Friday night thing........taking Kevin the teenager to his dad's and being tempted to get 'just 1 pack for the weekend' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Deep dragging and reading this thread got me out of that mindset:D
