It will be 2 weeks for me tomorrow. I haven't used a patch today as I've been having trouble mnaking them stay on! A couple of times last week I found that the patch had come off, once after showering. I found it stuck to the bottom of my slipper. Anyhow, I realised that my cravings were exactly the same whether I had the patch on or not so today I've been using the mints instead. I have kept a patch handy, just in case though :).

I don't know if this is wise or not but I've done ok so far today.

Well done everyone and keep it up :T

Hi all. Great to see so many other people doing well

I'm finding it really hard. Almost 3 weeks now and the first time I quit on Champix I'd almost forgotten about the ciggies by now, but they're still on my mind this time round. Still quite a bit of stress in my life (got notice that my job is up for review last week and have to go to a meeting on Thursday to find out the details - but its not sounding good). Need to keep telling myself that cigatettes won't make any of that go away - but its the first thing I wanted to do when I got my letter.

Proud not to have smoked though - 19 days smoke free for me.

Glad I'm not the only one. I'm not finding that it's getting any easier at all. The 1st time that I quit using the patches I remember it being relatively painless but this has been so hard. I seem to think of them constantly

Copperjar I just wanted to offer my support. That is really tough to have such a stressful situation so early into your quit.

I think you are doing so well and quite right that it wont help anything if you smoke, still it is not easy and to be honest I think I found the going tough for about a couple of months.

It was so difficult for me to walk past the shop sometimes when all I could hear was a voice in my head nagging, just one and then you can stop again! I used to feel like punching someone.

Also I can remember feeling a bit miffed that people seemed to find it so easy and I just did not. the thing that helped me most was my little plastic cigarette called Crafe-Away which you can get off Ebay.

It helped to breathe deeply on that and sometimes I just chewed it.

Anyway I hope it does get easier for you soon.Take care X :) That goes for you too Payless.

Many congratulations on having quit for 6 whole months mz_grim!!!! :T:T:T Marvellous news and thank you so much for letting us know of your success!

That's bad luck about the patches, Payless, but as you're not doing too badly without them I'd continue as you are now - with pure willpower! You have it within you and with 2 weeks under your belt you CAN do it. I know you said to copperjar that you're constantly thinking about fags this time round, but things are different because of the patch problems. You still have nocotine in you, but after 3 days, from the last patch, you'll be cleared of it and well on your way. Stick at it Payless and do all you can to distract yourself from thoughts. :)

Such a shame about your stress problems copperjar, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if all that stress is the real reason that you're thinking about them so much this time round. Remember one thing copperjar, however much you worry it can't and won't help at all. Try and look at Thursday's meeting in a different light - if they're making you redundant then it could just open up a whole new life for you - who knows?! What we perceive to be bad at the time isn't always what eventually happens for our future! ;) So, DON'T allow your boss/firm to rob you of good health!

Payless and copperjar, whenever you're feeling vulnerable: Breath in deeply but slowly for about 10 times, it calms you down no end - for any event - not just because of quitting. You keep on doing it through til Thursday copperjar. Also, take regular sips from a glass of water. Both of you; focus on memories and the more wonderful events of your lives - also - focus on your lungs and how they're looking right now, your heart too - then 'see' them further down the line after you've BOTH QUIT! Lean on each other through this, we all need that at times - now's the time for you both! You've both had previous times and still wanted to quit - so don't give in now or you'll need to go right back to square one, and you know that's true. Stick with it now girls, stick with QUITTING for LIFE and be so very, very proud of how far you've already come!!!! :j:j :T:T One fag will build up your stress ....turning away from old Nick will make you both stronger people!!! :D

Into another fresh week everyone with the one just gone to be chalked up as a marvellous succes - whether it was hard or not - it's still a week fag-free GONE and you're looking ahead to a brighter, cleaner, healthier future! :D

    Onward ALL. Sue x

    Morning everyone

Hope you all had a great weekend. I was on the patches for about 36 hours and ended up tearing it off to have a smoke. Not good and I'm not proud of it but there's no point pretending I didn't do it. I'm trying again today.

Brilliant news ml2008!!!! :j That's a great start and better to have tried and tested the waters than not bothered.

OK, you're off again....now see if you get further and keep right on trying! You're wanting to quit ml2008 or you wouldn't be here and starting over. This can be done, you'll find that one day! :D

All best wishes and loads of hugs, Sue x

I could not agree with you anymore Sue-UU.

ml2008, to reiterate what Sue said, you must want to give up as you would not have started the quit again, i wish you all the best and remember that there are people on the board who have quit, are in the process of quiitting or just given up, we are all here for eachother :)

I have been away for a few days, and upon my return an pleased to say that I am still going strong, just about to enter day number 10, cravings are becoming almost non existent, which has suprised me as i was on 40 a day!

Careful DD, I was watching Linda Robson on the telly last night, she quit for seventeen years and went out with her friends for her birthday and had a fag "for a joke".
