Congratulations BoydE!!!! :T:T:T:T That's outstanding and I'm so thrilled you came back to tell us. All too often, when folk don't keep in touch on the board, it's easy to think that they may have fallen by the wayside, but you and a few others go to prove this is not always the case. Some people simply like to, or have the courage or ease to, go it alone then come back rejoicing - and why not!!!!

Brilliant news, boydE, keep up the walking as that's also doing your lungs and ALL of you so much good! :j

All best wishes for the future, though please pop in and update us as you go along. Thanks a lot.

  • hello everyone is there room for a newbie?
i have tried countless times to give up but have always ended back on the cigs..due to stress etc
i really have to give up now because of health and have gotten pretty desperate now..i stopped for 10 days cold turkey but then started again, although i am on 10 a day now instead of 20. I did something i said i would never do and went to the Drs today and got Champix, already taken my 1st one but am just a bit nervous about taking tablets after all the bad press zyban has had.
so far i feel ok and not had any halluciations yet lol i'm planning to quit on day 7. i feel i will be visiting here a lot lol :)

woo hoo i have done a week...am on day 7 yay...

I must agree with Sue-UU it is nice that people who have given up a while ago come back to tell us how they have got on etc, it gives me hope that in 6 months time, it could be me coming back to tell others my story :)

Hi Shopaholicnot, I am also taking Champix, and was a bit weary of taking them, but as yet have had no side effects, I have just started week 3 of champix, week 2 of quit.

just remember to eat prior to taking the tablets, as my brother reports the nausea if awful.

I wish you the best of luck, together we can quit this thing called smoking and be new healthy people together :)

    Hi Shoperholic and Rmplc

I took Zyban with no side effects but I understand Champix is much better.

Anyway, well done Rmplc and welcome Shoperholic.

I have no doubt you will be back helping newbies in the future!

Have a good weekend and always make your quit your utmost priority for the first few weeks. It is so easy to look for an excuse to start again. You can always quit, but the more times you try and give in, the harder it is to get the courage to attempt again.

Nicotine will be trying to tell you it is your boss and you need to make sure it is you in charge!

All the best to you both. :)

    Hi all

Just thought Id let you know I have been a nonsmoker for 3wks and 3 days. With the money I have saved I have bought myself a long sought after games console. I did have debts I could have put it towards but, I decided I wanted/needed to reward myself.

I would like to say a big thank you to sue uu and the others for giving me the confidence to realise I could suceed in giving up smoking!

Keep at it and well done.

    Jojo
Proud to be dealing with my debts:j

Hi and welcome, shoperholicnot! There is always room for folk on here as we want you free from fags and being what you want to be - healthy!!! :jThere are so many folk on here using Champix at the moment, and no one complaining so, don't worry and just look ahead to being free from all the stress that smoking creates! That is absolutely true you know. So, work through any stressful times telling yourself that it would be doubly so IF you were smoking!

According to the lads, Daz and Alan, you'll get some lovely dreams (they REALLY do love em!) so don't be concerned about the pill factor. Yes, it might be better if you didn't need them, but weigh up the benefits of smoking against using Champix and QUITTING!!!!! Please shoperholicnot never, ever again be tempted to have "just one puff or fag" you'll do what you've done before and hate yourself if you do ...aside from that you're getting older and wiser!!! ;) Keep on chatting to us and writing down your feelings, it works wonders. Lovely to see you here. :)

Yes, Ross, very Well done indeed on your first week!!! :T A GREAT feeling for sure!!!

Wonderful words of wisdom there larmy and all so very, very true! :)

Excellent news Jojo!!!!! :T:T:T I'm so happy for you and so very proud of you for having kept on and on trying! Keep at it this time, Jojo as you KNOW you CAN do it! I know what you mean about the debts, but if the games console can help you keep your mind on a form of pleasure - then I'm pleased you have it. Now, go right on and justify the money and save, save, save for those debts!!! Please, keep right on talking to us this time Jojo and never, ever give in!!! Let's make it happen THIS time, and look just how far you've come ALREADY!!! :jHave a look at mustkeephoping's post over the page, that is so inspiring!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone and feel all that fresh air filling your lungs. Be happy and be so very, very proud of the distance you've travelled. :D

You deserve a round of applause! :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Thanks for coming back to tell us. It truly is wonderful to be free and it helps newbies realise that it is the fear which is the real problem, not the actual quitting.
