Brilliant news elfen! So by my reckoning you'll now have gone for around 5 & 1/2 hours and that is something to celebrate, truly it is! :T Regarding the "as long as you don't think about it" part, whenever you do, look at something beautiful or bring beautiful memories, however old, to the forefront of your mind so that you kick out the anything fag-related as it's never worth thinking about anyway! Focus on how sweet smelling you already are, no smelly fingers or nicotine stains, no filty, dirty, disguting ashtrays in sight...no smells by the door either.

Keep at it elfen, you're a non-smoker already and doesn't that feel great!! :j
    Keep strong.

Sue x Thinking of you. :)

    Hi Elfen

You are doing really well. Congratulations on taking this decision. You will be so pleased you did. Try not to obsess on any cravings you do get, as they do pass, but it makes it tons more difficult if you let them take hold of you.

You can also try the tapping technique which if you google I am sure you will find it. It involves tapping various accupressure points in sequence and by the end of doing the routine, any cravings should have gone. Now if I only I could take my own advice when it comes to chocolate!!!!!! :D

Anyway, all the best to you. It can be done and you are going to feel so much better for it. Keep posting however you feel. X

Ten hours now - relying on willpower alone. Have had one slip up, but I think we're all allowed them. Am trying as I don't want to become addicted to the patches, and have bee nsucking the empty inhalator....I'll patch up tomorrow.

Ahaa Larmy! Did you watch his program yesterday tea time per chance? It was brilliant and used a lot of his tapping technique, to great affect too....nearly put hubby and I off our tea! I seem to be able to cope with chocolate, it's just sweet things in general I have a few problems with, but I'll tap on and hope for the best. :D The way we get so hooked onto things is...sickening!

Excellent news elfen! So, that's about 12 hours now, superb work! If you can manage using willpower alone, so be it and good for you! However, IF things should become too dodgy and you have daily slip-ups (try hard first though) then don't hesitate to use them rather than go back to smoking again. Thoughts of that don't bear thinking about. If you'd like to try the "tapping technique" Larmy & I are talking about, then tap (sorry, pun not intended, honest!) it into Google and give it a go, there may even be a video of Paul Mckenna doing it, it certainly helps to be able to visualise it properly. Do try your hardest NOT to give into the nicotine monster in your head as the more slip-ups you have ~ and give into ~ the longer it'll take you to be free from the very thing that makes you crave them so.....nicotine!:(

You CAN do it elfen, but you need to stay strong at all times. Every time you have a craving, try some deep breathing and go on out and walk hard...or run! Anything to see you through those few seconds. Try to get some sleep tonight and relax first with a shower/bath. All the best for tomorrow elfen!

Ah... another normal one then mz_grim!;) It's weird how we all start cleaning through the house in frenzied fashion, it's a thing that hits us all, something to take our feelings out on I guess. You too might well benefit from the "tapping technique" Larmy * I are speaking of, it does help. It may even be shown on You Tube!

You're doing really well mz_grim,:j go on and add another day to your number tomorrow! You'll get there with strength and determination and reading through the posts really helps a lot. Also, try writing all your feelings down and getting them out that way. One very successful quitter we had always used her mobile to write texts, she put down all her feelings but never sent them...it helped her get through it all too!

Ice Poles anyone???? Feedumall, who came back on last week to tell us she'd gone for almost 2 years used Ice Poles all the time, they're slow to suck, made of water too....worth a try!!!

Well done Larmy & Jammy, you're doing such great work. We'll get em through it, then they'll be helping others too! :j

Yes Sue, I did see it and I would be very interested to know if that lady was still repulsed by chocolate with it's maggots, spittoon contents and hair etc.;)

I had a bar right after the show and it affected me not one jot!!!

As you know I saw a hypnotherapist some time ago and for a while I did stay off the chocolate but fell back into the vat.

Now if only I could be hypnotised to be consistent, that would really help!!

I am still lugging this 12 lbs around with me and it is really getting me down. Just don't seem to be able to apply the same discipline to eating.

Had another slip-up. Think the patch will be staying on tomorrow. But not doing too badly, doesn't help that I'm getting tired now though. Fourteen hours :)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Oh Larmy, why did you have to tell it like that, the "fell back into the vat" part really made me giggle so much. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Funny you should say about the chocolate with it's maggots, spittoon contents and hair etc; it really made my stomach turn, but.......I still had a chicken corma for tea! ;) Mind you, if it had been anything not quite so appetising I'm sure I couldn't have touched it, though I only had a couple of mouthfuls of naan bread.

That lass did have her eyes closed when visualising it though and he reckoned it's that which really helps us "see it" when being tempted. As we were going to eat afterwards I made darn sure I kept mine OPEN!!!!

Oh dear elfen, that's such a rotten shame. I'm in agreement about the patches, I think you need them. So many people have spoken about how tired they get, though some get totally energised, but then we're all different. Try and go on to bed now and get yourself a good night before starting in earnest with the patches in the morning.

All the very best elfen, and please don't give in IF you have any cravings, it's never worth keep taking a step back. THIS is the time for you to finish with fags for good and we're all willing you to do so! Don't forget the "tapping technique", it might be just what you need!!!

Not doing too bad so far, have kept myself busy by getting brekkie out (less than a pack of fags so the change is in the Catbank) doing some shopping I needed and tidying/blitzing the flat. Not really got any cravings as such, I think it's mainly boredom and force of habit that spurs me to smoke.

I did have a slip-up before going to bed last night as I was so tired and not thinking right, but luckily today has been OK :) I now have lots of mini lollies to take th urge away, as I can eat the lolly and chew the stick to death lol
