Hi and a warm welcome to you Lisa, welcome also to a really fresh start, a healthy life once again! You have a momentous occasion to get yourself ready for, what greater incentive could you wish for!!
Hi nirelandguy, it's so good to see you back once again. I don't think anyone else on these threads has come back as often as you have...ever determined that ONE DAY you'll do it, succeed AND stay quit for good!!! I have to hand it to you, you try everything possible to try kicking it, but as jammy says, one day (and let's hope that's Monday onwards) it will all just come so natural that THIS time IS the time! I'm so glad you're going back to Alan Carr's book, keep on reading it over and over as each time you do bits of it will stick more than they have before.
Also, please take heed of the latest PM I've sent and pop down all the reasons you want to quit for so you can display them and keep re-reading them whenever you're passing various places in the house. It really does help as it keeps reinforcing it all over and over for you. All the other tips help a great deal too. Why not come on the thread more regularly to jot your feelings down, you'll be helping others as well as yourself. I couldn't wish you anything you don't already wish yourself nirelandguy, so for now, all the very, very best of wishes for you to achieve your dream!larmy16 wrote:I used to feel so anxious and guilty when I smoked - I was so ashamed and kept it secret as possible. So when he points out that it is the nicotine which is causing the anxiety, I thought right.......that's it......I am going to beat this creep once and for all.
I totally agree with that sentence Larmy, it's exactly how nicotine works, creating more stress so that we reach for another..and so it goes on with it's snowball effect!
You're doing just great elfen! :T So, you've already stopped smoking for a whole 5 days and that is something do be chuffed to bits about! Well done elfen as I know it hasn't been easy for you, but you've stuck at it hard and resolved to stay off of them. Keep it up day by day, and as mz_grim suggests, it maybe worth you trying to keep the patches on overnight, though I know Andrew (waccoe) finds the opposite best. Give it a try and see, but do be sure to put the patches on different areas of your body so one part doesn't become too sensitive. Stay strong elfen, you're doing yourself proud!
Such wonderful news on you having stayed free from smoking for a whole 4 weeks emily!! :T Well done on the CM reading of 0, doesn't that make you feel so clean within!!! :j Stay busy Em, it suits you!
mz_grim, it looks as though you must still be doing very well indeed and I hope it's ongoing. It's good that you're reading the posts and helping others too, always a good sign!
jammy dodger, I was quite shocked to read your latest stats of all you've saved and all you...haven't smoked!!! I wish I'd kept track of mine and all I've saved over the years! What a thought of what it'd be!
Great news from everyone and what a joy it is to read of the progress of each of you. Andrew, I see you're lurking and hope you had a really wonderful holiday....any rock???? :drool:Every best wish for you ALL folks.

If swimming's your thing mz_grim then please carry on in the sea of life where fags are never a problem. Just trying to imagine a fish swimming along whilst puffing away on a soggy wet fag  but....maybe not what really goes on down there.
Seriously, you're doing sooooo very well, no doubt with so many thoughts of your wonderful day to help fill in any 'moments'. You deserve that feeling of pride mz, smoking isn't an easy vice to quit so you be as proud as you like as it's YOU who's getting you through it all!! Well done! :T

Giving up now for 3 weeks, thats it i will never smoke again, my breathing was terrible, my chest rattled, i chained smoke.
on 24 hour patches and 2mg gum prescribed by my counsellor
Has it bothered me,?
not really, you have to be in the right frame of mind, i have giving up twice before for 1 and 1.5 years. This time however due to my age that's it.
I do have nightmares but they are more weird than scary so they dont bother me.
I am eating things that i wouldnt normally eat
everyone keep it up!0 -
graet news Boyde sounds like your moment has arrived i had tried a few times to stay stopped but this time ...... well it just feels right and the thought of going back ...not a chance ..all the very best and ENJOY your smoke free life x0

Day 8 for me....through my first week. I feel wealthier and healthier (my CO was 17, but I live near a main road) Now to do the slog through this week.
On the 22nd, I'll be putting money into my savings to cover what I would have spent on ciggies - so £40 will be going in** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
