    Hi Nirelandguy.

Big hugs to you. I know how hard it is and you must feel so frustrated at not being able to get over that two day hurdle. There must be something in you that still thinks you cannot survive without the cigs.

I have had the same kind of struggles as you, though I have managed to stop for three years (!), two episodes of 10 months and various three day - three week attempts. All in all I have probably quit about 50 times over my 30 year smoking addiction.

I was trying to stop not long after I had started. It was a complete nightmare. Oh yes I also saw a hypnotist. I think somehow it boils down to us believing that tobacco is stronger than us and that we need it, which is not true of course.

You have done the patches (me too) Allen Carr (me too) Champix (I had Zyban), and all manner of chewing gum etc.

It was this thread that finally captured me. It was tough those first couple of months - I admit, but I knew that ultimately I had two choices, to continue (and feel worried and guilty) or tough it out and quit until nicotine was out of my body and psychology.

Well I am a year off it now. I am so pleased to be free and sometimes take it for granted, until I see a post like yours.

Please, please join us on here. Why not give yourself a week or so, but set a date and then post on here as you take your journey. There is always someone coming along soon to empathise, support and encourage.

Nicotine will tell you you cannot do it, but you can you know!!! :D

    Hi Lisa and welcome.

Yes it does get easier. Hang in there my friend. You can do it.

I know it can be difficult with all the distractions of life, but for the next few weeks or so you need to make your quit and being kind to yourself, your number one priority.

All the best to you. :)

How do you cope with the early morning craving between waking up and putting the patch on? Does it diminish with time or is it always going to be this bad?

NRT never did me any good before, Infact I don't think it done anything when I compare it to my time trying Allen Carr.

Good for you Nireland guy. Actually in my last quit (and final!!!!!!!), I had ordered Allen Carr's easy way for women but I had already stopped by the time it arrived, but I found it helped anyway.

I used to feel so anxious and guilty when I smoked - I was so ashamed and kept it secret as possible. So when he points out that it is the nicotine which is causing the anxiety, I thought right.......that's it......I am going to beat this creep once and for all. :)

Very best of luck to you. Oh yeah another thing I did in my final days of smoking was make sure I was sat in front of a mirror to see just how "attractive" (more like desperate) it made me look!
