Well done, janiebaby29, :T :T and the best of luck for the back op. At the beginning of May, I was in hospital for an op and was so relieved to be a non-smoker although it did not make the food taste any better
and many of the nurses reeked of tobacco.
Please, anyone reading this thread for encouragement to take the big step to becoming a non-smoker and all the newbies, remember that the process of stopping smoking effects us in different ways. Please, don't be put off by my ramblings - I smoked for nearly 40 years, so am trying to break the habit of a lifetime. If anything, take my experience as a warning of what could happen if you continue smoking.COPD, bad circulation, loose teeth and the wrinkles of someone at least 20 years older than my true age, not to mention all the money that has been wasted.
Please, take note of the posts from the lovely folk who drop in to report that they are so pleased that they stopped smoking and that they are getting on with their lives as non-smokers .... all due to the wonderful support from SueUU and fellow quitters.
Keep posting - it does help more than anything else, I promiseI am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -
thank you so much to sue and larmy for your advice. sue - i'm not really an 'emotional' smoker, never when i'm stressed, upset etc. it's always when i've got a drink. that's really how i started smoking and what i need to avoid. and probably why it's easy not to smoke during the week! i have to remember your positivity if i have a wobble. i'm going to spend the next while reading back on this thread - it's been a godsend so far!!! xx
Lots of love and good luck to everyone so far. x"I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and... I believe in miracles."

hi everyone
just poppiong in to echo encouragement given to others in recent posts
glad to hear so many sticking with it . (great news oldreekie janiebaby ) we all started about the same time :j
isnt it frightening how addictive this nicotine is in so many ways it controls life i had an upset today and thought immediately i'd take a cigarette ... just one ..thats 19 weeks down the line i held in my mind my mantra ...cigarettes are not my friend THEY WILL NOT MAKE ME FEEL BETTER !! a frys choclate cream did though;) how we are so easily tempted as i say i am never complacent but relieved i have the will power and support on here NOT to go back .
NO MORE WINTERS HUDDLED ON THE DOOR STEP FOR ME protecting my fag from the wind and rain while I got soaked pathetic when you think
stick with it folks its the best thing you can ever ever ever do for yourself and your loved ones in my thoughts x x x0 -
Very many congratulations indeed janiebaby, you've done marvellously and deserve to be soooo very thrilled at all you've accomplished!!! :T:T:T:T:T:T It's exactly the same with you oldreekie and jammy dodger, you're all at about the same stage and ALL wanted your lives back as healthy as possible...and weren't happy until you achieved that, and even though you still get 'those times' now and again ~ and aren't becoming complacent ~ I've no doubt you'll all go on to be very healthy ladies indeed, you too of course Larmy!!! I can't help but applaud you ALL!!! :T:T:T
Good to see you back Yoemma, good also to see you recognising exactly why you're smoking.....BUT, if you can possibly crack the weekend habit you could ditch the fags that, in the future, could quite easily make you feel like oldreekie, me too with the fear all the possible illnesses smoking can bring, no matter how many you smoke! Stay with us whenever you like and let us know if you have the good fortune to do what you wish to, or if you don't..it may still help, I sincerely hope so! Best wishes Emma, you CAN do it. I'll be in touch if there's anything else I can think of.
Hiya Caz, it's so good to see you absolutely determined to achieve your dream, you and all the family will be feeling so darned chuffed with the way you're coping. Ride the storm with the allergies and see if they go on their own, give them the chance for the bodies natural defences to kick in. However, IF that doesn't happen then have a word with your Dr to see if he/she thinks you'll benefit by using anti-histamines. I'm glad you're giving the body a chance first as I need a pill every day, winter and summer alike! Had I given my body a chance first, who knows, though nasal polyps too were such a pest, still are, but I'm positive it's all the result of the blessed fags!!! Keep it all up Caz, and have a great weekend!:)Please, anyone reading this thread for encouragement to take the big step to becoming a non-smoker and all the newbies, remember that the process of stopping smoking effects us in different ways. Good to see you oldreekie...and whatever you think, you're doing so very, very well with all you've had to cope with during your quit. You never, ever ramble either as all that you've said above is so worthy of other folk reading, then thinking about and....all being well to draw them into a very successful and healthy life ahead too. What with your ailments due to fags and the fear that smoking brought to me every single day and that almost pulled my life apart, if it hadn't been for my dear DH and family. It's posts like that ~ not ramblings ~ that might give others the encouragement they need to get fags out of their lives for good. Well done OR for being utterly honest.
You, jammy dodger andlarmy do a marvellous job of helping folk here too, please stick with it....we NEED you all!Incidentally, why do the NHS need to continue their help after 3 months when there's help to be had like this!
For today (sounds like a sermons end), I'll leave you with the words of old reekie, above. Please take note all wannabe quitters, many, many folks have successfuly quit with us as help, it can happen to YOU too! Go on, give it a try at the very least!!

You should be so proud a week is quite a milestone :j
, it was for me too , i reflected on that week , at every temptation and craving past and knew if i could do it for that very hard habbit breaking first week i could do it for another
keep in mind and plan for those unavoidable temptations that will inevitably come knocking
i promise it gets so much easier those thoughts of smoking , wanting , "needing " DO ease , they pass
I wish you well on your jouirney of new found FREEDOM x x0 -
