Poor Sue - hope you feel better soon.

Well done, Fee! Just keep strong - as Sue says, plenty of water, fresh fruit and walking. Also keep a mental list of distractions all ready (most of mine were to do with housework - clearing out a cupboard, going through wardrobe to purge old clothes, cleaning bathroom, that sort of thing) so you can throw yourself into some sort of action if the cravings are getting to you. And most of all, keep reminding yourself of all the many, many benefits of being a non-smoker.

I think I get a dopamine hit just from the buzz of having given up...

    And now its 1M 16HR 33M

Had a really busy weekend - band followed by choir performances on Saturday, christmas shopping and 5 hours of choir singing on Sunday. How really, really bl**dy wonderful was it not to be worrying about getting chances to smoke and then worrying about smelling of it, also being able just to walk up to people to greet them without averting my face in the hope they wouldn't pick it up (of course they do, there's no amount of mints or chewing gum that can hide it...).

I feel so much more confident than before. Received wisdom (myth) is that cigarettes give you confidence - what utter bo**ocks. They sapped me of confidence as I skulked around trying to find quiet places to smoke, then stuffed myself full of mints and gum, worried that I'd bump into someone and have to greet them and tried so hard not to cough if there was anyone else around me or I was on the phone. Constant worrying about health and the financial impact of smoking (justified by saying that I never bought them in the UK, always abroad - who was I trying to kid?) just added to the stress levels.

I'm so pleased to be rid of it.

Rant over - thanks for staying with me on this.

best wishes to all - we're all doing brilliantly.

Down loaded the silkquit thingy and its great! Not smoked for 5days 14hrs and 37 mins. Saved £13.13 and not smoked 50 fags:D. Im still missing them terribly, feel like Ive lost something. Could easily smoke at work coz loads of people do and I have felt like asking for one from one of the girls but have so far declined. Work is the easiest place to be because strangley when I gave up smoking last time I never ever smoked again at work, but its the only place I could scrounge one!!! My favourite fag was when I got in from work at 2, thats why Im on here just now ;)!
Well done Mum of 2 you are doing brilliantly its a real inspiration to see all the different stages people are at and what struggles they have encounterd along the way, prepares you for the road ahead:rotfl:
I`ve not tried the water or keeping away from alcohol (had a bottle o wine over the wk end) or coffee. Feels like Im already giving up one of my pleasures so why give up the others too. Maybe its making me suffer a bit more but I do like my coffee and think it will b easier in the long run if I get used to coffe without smoking as soon as possible:D!
Was really chuffed with myself when I went to bed last night and realised I`d not smoked for 5 days, had a wee euphoric moment.lol!

How true are these words are Jo. It is fantastic to hear so many people posting such encouraging stories of their determination and the honesty of the odd weaker moment. It all gets so much easier folks. Just counted and I am on month 8 of my final quit - I must never take it for granted. You will enjoy Christmas so much when you don't have the pressure of the nicotine nagging at you.

Especially when you're out at the work do and stood shivering outside in the snow to have a puff when everyone's inside in the warm :rotfl:

I'll be away from the PC for a few days now, so just wanted to wish everyone a joyous festive season. For many of us on here, this will be our first smoke-free Christmas for a long time :j:j

Stay strong and enjoy the calm which comes from being nicotine free.

    all best wishes - MumOf2

Another day of being smoke free:D. Saw an old friend of mine today smoking out side a shop when I was out and about. It was snowing and she looked frozen, felt like running over and saying " hey why dont u try and stop ...." but if someone said that to me Id a slapped them!!!! :rotfl:
Mum of 2 just saw how much money u saved and how many u not smoked and only in a month:eek: that is truly amazing. Well done to you, you must be so proub of yourself.
Im finding that I`m feeling a lot better too now, no got pains in my chest like I used to have (which was quite scary and I used to put down to old age) but what I realise now was actually smoking and prob my bod telling me to quit!! O I really hope I can get through this without ever smoking again. I want to wake up in the morning without even thinking about it, like Id never smoked in my life!

FEE, just take the cravings as they come and don't worry about the next one. Deep breathing, busy hands and choklit helps :D
