  • Well i had my one puff this evening, got a little tipsy, asked my friend for a cigarette and gave it back to her after two tokes.

I'm glad i did it, i'm more determined to quit noe, i think its helped in a way to show me how disgusting it really is because i didn't enjoy it at all.

I'm not going to count this as a failure, just as part of the process of quitting smoking. So in 16 minutes it will be secen days exactly

This is the crux of it. The brainwashing of nicotine. Smoking doesn't relieve pressure, it causes it.

That's so right :T Someone told me that as a smoker we spend most of time stressed because we're in withdrawal - minutes after we finish one ciggy, we're craving the next one. That's when it hit me I was a slave to nicotine, and why I felt so stressed all the time. Which is why it is HEAVEN to be off that crave/feed the addiction merry go round :j
Well done to everyone - some fantastic successes on here :j

Stub out that last cigarette. Get yourself on this thread and tough it out. It may be a lot easier than you think. Look back at IWRS I wanna retire someday's posts. They were filled with trepidation on the first steps and now I think it's either a month or two on (sorry I forgot which) and they are loving being free of that horrible chemical.

You know what, you are worth it!!!!!! :)

If you get cravings (you probably will) just tell yourself you are not going to die from a craving, it is part of the process of getting free and if you don't give in you will be free, completely (if you choose to be) in approximately 3 weeks. You really are free provided you don't smoke another. I promise you it is not as scary as your mind will convince you it is.

    Good luck.

It all depends on your mind.

I've only just stopped smoking (9 days at the end of today) and even though it's been only a short time I can safely say it's the best thing I've done.

I was a 20 a day for over 20 years smoker and decided one day that I was going to stop. I admit that I was scared, but for me the thought of giving up smoking was worse than the actual doing it. I've had bad days, don't get me wrong, and at times the cravings have been strong - but it isn't as scary as you'd think. The cravings don't last and they don't hurt.

I'm still doing it one day at a time - that way it's managable and it seems less daunting. But it's working and the days will become weeks and the weeks will become months.

There's a lot of support on this thread. And if I can do it so can you - I promise.

    Wishing you all the best.

    Mollie
  • I feel so good today

Because of last night i realise that i don't miss it and that i don't even like it anymore.

Its really changed everything, i don't even really think about it anymore, especially not about the last one!

Good luck for tonight Bruce, i'm sure you can do it!

i have give up smoking now endless times even for 5 months at a time BUT..... it`s always that one cigarette i have that pulls me back in. don't do it not even the one puff it will draw you straight back in and it`s like starting to give up all over again.
  • just popping back in..I LOVE BEING A NON-SMOKER!!

only problem is every one of my friends smoke..almost feel a bit left out (in the most bizzare way ever!)

Being completely honest, not sure how I'm going to fare over xmas/ new year but I'm so proud of me (& every one on here!) for not smoking so far!
