Well done Mumof2
I can relate to so much you said in your post.
I am on week 7 and it will be 2 months for me on 5th Oct.
I also did it cold turkey, admittedly I had a few relapses the first week but have been okay since. As time goes on it does get easier. I think that if you are using NRT, you then at some point have to get yourself off that as well, so with cold turkey you do it in one hit if you can cope with it.
I have to start doing a bit of exercise etc now. My breathing is so much better now and there is no more thinking ahead of when I can have a ciggie. Was out for meal with some friends on Sat and did not have to excuse myself so I could have a ciggie, plus it was poring down so another advantage
good luck and well done

You've done so very well and I hope you're feeling so very proud of such a wonderful achievement!!! :j
All the very best larmy! You'll get there, I'm sure you will, but for now at least you've got rid of the worst addiction!!!:T
Great news MumOf2!!! :T You're doing a marvellous job of viewing all the good things about having given up, it really does help to move forward each new day! You're welcome to the PM, it's a pleasure. Don't worry about the sleep disruption, it won't last that long and is so worth it as I think you already know. Also, it's good to write sown as much as you have, and anything that you find helpful, please go ahead with it!
That is marvellous news D !!! :T Do you mean it will be 2 months for you on 5th December or have I got the wrong idea?
Keep up the trying DC, larmy may well have had a great thought there too!!:j
All the very best EVERYONE!!!

Sorry I meant to put 5 December and it will be 2 months, loosing my marbels LOL. :j0 -
Well done all you posters. I agree with 'taking it one day at a time' and not getting too carried away.
I start week four today and so far so good. I still need my bit of gum now and again and sometimes a little voice inside suggests I just have a ciggie now and then but its getting easier to turn this off now.
I'm piling up the £'s and piling on the lbs but will deal with my weight soon. First casualty is my size ten navy cords, today will buying a size twelve. Daughter says I was too thin and could do with putting on a stone. Trouble is this will mean all new clothes but telling myself I was underweight to start with and have no cash now.
Best of luck to all my fellow posters.0 -

HI All,
Hope the quitting is going well, and well done to all of the newbies, taking that first step is often the hardest!
Im still going strong, 5 months yesterday and i didnt realise until about 6pm when i had to actually write the date down.
Went away with a group of friends, a combination of ex and current smokers and everyone (even the exers) smoked, apart from me, i didnt want to, well, most of the time lol, the rest of the time i was just hard with myself, i know that its a slippery slope for me once i have one so im not giving up on giving up!!!!!
Larmy, its nice to see you on here and still being so supportive
Sue, you are inspiring and supportive as always
Good luck guys and gals, stay strong

Hi, can I join in?!
Finally decided I don't really enjoy smoking much anymore, especially not in this weather!! & bored of wasing all my money on it.
Quit on Sunday, lasted all of one day til I went back to work..& then had a drink in evening..oops..
Anyway, I'm starting again tomorrow, barely smoke at home anymore & can do that easily, it just seems at work I struggle breaking the habit of taking a break anytime I fancy!
Thought that if I commit to something on here it may just help me struggle on..so here's to being smoke free tomorrow!
Ps..any helpful ideas on stopping the 'habit?'..it's this I struggle with much more than cravings..0 -
Many thanks Sue :j It does feel great to be off the ciggies - my health's so much better, and I can walk up stairs without getting out of breath. And the money saved !!!
This time round I've had a real determination to kick the habit for good- and if I do get any cravings (although they are very few and far between now) they pass by really quickly.
It does get better day by day - it is hard in the early days and weeks but honestly, it DOES pass !! New quitters - take heart, cuz if I can quit, then anyone can :T
PamWell Pam, it's already tomorrow (well, at this time of the early morning it is anyway!) so very many congratulations on 10 months as an ex-smoker!!!:T
You've done so very well and I hope you're feeling so very proud of such a wonderful achievement!!! :j

Still trying. Decided today I'm going to give those niquitine minis a go. I want to stop, I've been blathering on here about it for months.
Stay tuned.
Hi DC i have to say that the minis didnt work for me i was still having really bad cravings after i had one and they burnt my throat even though i was just letting it dissovle in my mouth
Im started on the patches and even though it has only been 9 hours i havent craved one cig and havent been tempted to go out for one when everyone else at work has (its thunder and lighting to outside which make me feel even better! :rotfl:) hope i can continue like this, i have tried to give up many times before and so far im feeling good, im starting to think this is the right time now where as before i wasnt sure
Hope everyone else is doing well
