Hi its so great to read everyone post to see the personal experinces people are going thru it helping me so much :) Well just thought i would leave a quick msg on here letting you know it has been 1 week since i last smoked!!!!!!!! cant believe it!!!!

You are doing so well Beaney. Isn't it great not to have to keep trying to wash the smell of nicotine off your hands - it never seems to go no matter how much you wash them either. Big pat on the back and hugs to you. :)

Well done to everyone who's become a non-smoker! The benefits of not being chained to cigarettes are fantastic, aren't they?

Have been reminding myself today of all the many benefits - it's just shy of 10 days and it's been a bit of a hard day. Surprised - I thought it was the early days which were challenging physically, but today there have been a few physical cravings and problems with concentration. Went for a brisk, purposeful, route march from one end of work to the other and back (20 minutes), a lot of deep breathing and generally concentrating on how much I'm benefitting from not being enslaved.

If this carries on, will go for long walk this evening. But will not cave in - I'm bigger than they are...

What an excellent attitude to face it with MumOf2!!! :T I hope everyone having a bit of a difficult day reads your post as it's so positive and shows what you need to do to get past such times! A terrific way to view it!

Re your difficult day: We've all smoked plenty long enough for the habit to still be in our heads long after it's left our bodies. It's a vile habit and each fag comes with LOADS of chemicals, little wonder then that 'Nick' tries to mess with our heads for a while after. However, keep doing what you did today, taking up a hobby by using your mind and hands too all help so very much, but you're on the winning side MumOf2, very well done indeed, and having got to about 10 days is a great achievement!! Keep strong, you certainly sound it!

I can easily agree with the smelly fingers Larmy, I can also easily 'see' my fingers and how stained they used to get, how ashamed I used to be about them too! Sometimes I'd use a pumice stone (so painful!!) other times - a brillo pad!!! It's hard to believe all these years later!!! :o

Keep up the amazing work everyone, it's all so worth the struggle as that struggle passes by so quickly. Stay strong as you CAN win this marvellous battle! :D

    Woop Woop!

    One year today!!!!!!!

Yes, one year ago today I fearfully took the first steps (tho not for the first time) to giving up and I am so proud that I have managed a whole year!

For those of you just starting, be very proud of yourselves and keep at it. It may seem an uphill struggle but boy is it worth it!

I have to say a big thank you to this thread and especially Sue (x) - cos I would not have done it without

Well done to you too Tatty Cath! See you here next year for my second and your third anniversaries!

It's such a great pleasure MumOf2, I really love helping as much as possible, especially with relieving people from these disgusting things that cause nothing but heartache if we can't free ourselves from their clutches!! More than anything though I'm so thrilled for all you quitters that Jo1972 started up the original thread last January, if it hadn't been for her so many of you might not be where you are.

Congratulations Jo, you really started something HUGE when you decided to quit smoking!!! Thank You! :T Please everyone, also remember that Larmy does a cracking job here and is so often on hand to give advice and support!:A

Many congratulations tattycath!!! :T You set out to get on a sensational journey and have accomplished so very, very much. Just look at all the good you've done for yourself and the money you now have, you should be so very, very proud of your great success!!! :T

So many congratulations to you too joop!!! A whole 12 months without relying on life with fags! You've done brilliantly and have deserved all the success you've achieved. I feel so very proud for you too and that almost makes me tearful! In a VERY happy way though. Again though; re the thread, it was all originally started by Jo!!! BTW joop, today's the end of the "Sealed Pot Challenge" if we want to say how you've done. The new one "3" starts tomorrow!

Thanks so very much for coming back tattycath and joop, as times like this help and inspire others in the process of quitting to know they too CAN do it!!!!

Please have a look here folks: If anyone would like to motivate themselves further by saving your money that's not spent on cigs, but aren't sure how, then how about joining us here and just ask to join in and I'll be with you as soon as possible to welcome you in. Have a look at the first 2 posts on Page 1 to read what it's all about. We start a new one tomorrow and you can always find us on the challenges/diaries part of DFW!

All the very best as you continue your journey folks, please remember that even if you don't have a very good day one day, it's very often followed with a much better one. Just hang on in there and stay strong and positive - PLEASE!!!
