Thanks for that D, I half wondered if it was me that was missing a cog!!! It's ok, I soon realised that it just couldn't be the case!!! :rotfl:Stay strong!
Hi Irish and very well done indeed!!! :T A good idea to have a bit of gum as and when necessary, and well done on shutting wicked voices out of your head!If you're concerned about your weight then make sure you go for healthy options when filling any sort of cravings. However, your young lass may well be right as I'm sure it's fags that keep weight off that we may well have needed, but not known it. Size 12 is still very slim...put it this way...I wish I was back there again!
Hi and welcome Beaney192, come on in and close the door! welcome to MSE too. You've made a great decision, one that you'll never forget as it leads you back to the healthy life you used to have!! Well done on the 12 week course with the Pharmacy, and if you need extra help then go to your Cessation Clinic/Nurse at your Doctors as they've always got great support to give. Re work and the smokers there; stay inside and have a healthy snack or spend time doing a crossword or reading the paper etc. In time the smokers may follow your sensible lead and quit for their own good!!! Don't go out there with them as you may well get tempted and you DON'T want that!!! Please, don't ever give way to thoughts of "I could have just one" as it never stays like that and you'll be back to where you started!! You've started on a fantastic journey and you'll be so very proud when you find you've conquered those nasty, evil fags! You DON'T need them!!
Hi and welcome tiger-eyes, and of course you can join in! You'll have the PM by now so that'll give you some help, so will coming on here whenever you wish and writing your feelings down. Whatever you think might help, give it a go and see! Re the breaks at work; don't go outside and face the temptations as it's never worth it. Stay in, keep warm and enjoy a health snack or a chat with a non-smoker! Also, whilst you're vulnerable try to stay away from alcohol.!! If you have just that drop too much then it could easily set you back to where you DON'T want to be!!! Think of your health and get it back! Fill your pockets up with money again, far better than filling your lungs with all sorts of muck and rubbish!!!:o
Hi again Puzzled! Brilliant news of your 5 months of freedom from fags!!! :TYou've done marvellously and should be so proud of all you've achieved as well as resisting all the temptations that were before you with your friends!! :jYou know all about that slippery slope and should be very proud of keeping away from it!!!:T
Pam I know just what you mean about the stairs etc being so very much easier to manage now we don't smoke, also it's true that any cravings (feelings) that do come along pass by really quickly.
Stay strong everyone and resist ALL temptations..though you might not get any anyway. You CAN WIN this journey and you'll be amazed how much you enjoyed it too!!!

Beaney and Tiger Eyes welcome and best of luck.
In the early days it may even be one hour at a time if you cannot bear the thought of one day. Beaney you will know you are making great strides when you forget to put your patch on!
It is so wonderful to no longer be a slave to nicotine that it is well worth those few difficult days in the beginning. Sometimes the high of the thought that you are giving up can be enough to get you through. You just have to plod on, day by day until suddenly you will realise you have stopped thinking of nicotine and it is then that you get the excitement of knowing you are gaining the upper hand over this vile chemical.
I must be on month 7 now and it has flown by. Literally. As it will for you if you just resist the lie of "just one". Be strong. XXGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hi all.
Still going and haven't had one yet. According to SilkQuit now at 1w, 5d and 20h and a whopping 385 cigarettes not smoked!
Had a few occasions of really wanting one but mostly not been to bad.
Sue, regarding what you said about properly wanting to stay off them this time. Was talking to a friend of mine at the weekend and they picked up on me saying I wasn't going somewhere because I "really wanted to stop this time".Smoke free since November 2009.

Well done indeed chev!! That's exactly how you came across last week, like you want it desperately, and I believe it!! Congratulations for the distance covered already!! :T Keep it up and ignore those feelings, that's just old Nick wanting to get to you ..but we DON'T let him!!

Brilliant news tiger-eyes! That is a great achievement already so give yourself a huge pat on the back! :T Re the water, feel it cleansing you all through. Take deep breaths as much as possible, that way you'll cleanse the lungs more. Take exercise at the same time and you can't help but breathe deeply and free yourself of any cravings!
Wonderful news from everyone, keep it going folks and it'll soon be getting so much easier and the benefits are all yours!!! :j :T

Clinic day today and had to take the 'blow in tube' test. My reading was 1 which was down from 12. I did not have a high reading to start with as I smoked on average about 10 a day but still I was out of puff when climbing stairs and had a bit of rattle in chest so all that has changed, I also feel calmer. We are away visiting relations this weekend and its nice to know I will not be sneaking outside for a crafty ciggie. I feel so pleased that I've got this far.
Best of luck to everyone0 -
Brilliant news Irish!!! Down from 12 to 1 is an excellent reading, no wonder you're feeling so much better! :T So many people say they feel far less stressed after having quit, I'm so pleased you're experiencing the same feelings. Have a wonderful weekend that you're able to enjoy - for a change!
Have a great weekend everyone and carry on quitting!
