Its great that you no longer think about smoking after only 4 weeks. Gives hope to the rest of us. I am doing better than I expected but do fancy a ciggie at times though on patches. Solved this problem by buying nic gum just chewing on half until the feeling passes. This only happens every now and then and as the gum is very mild it does not appear to clash with the patches. I really do not want to get hooked on the gum.
    Well done

TBH I've given up loads of times. Once for over 3 years. And for the last 10 years I have been a secret smoker.... no-one knows I smoked! Not even my OH. It is actually hard being a secret smoker because you are always suffering from nicotine withdrawal. So I could go for weeks (when we were on holiday) without a ciggarette but as soon as I was on my own I'd light up. Go figure.

I realise now I hadn't actually decided to quit smoking, I had actually decided not to ever smoke in front of my kids.

But now I have decided to give up forever. ONE MONTH today:beer: The reward for me of not suffering from nicotine withdrawal everyday of my life is massive and it feels tremendous.

Thanks for all your support and giving me a place to confess all.

    Morning all!

Another fresh new shiny, if rather drizzly, downcast and depressing day - but we still have something to celebrate - our freedom from the slavery of nicotine.

I had a funny old day yesterday. I did a lot of housework but definitely had that feeling of wanting something. A void of some kind.

In the end I decided to pick up a book that I am quite engrossed in and had an early night which seemed to do the trick.

Another session with the hypnotist today, then that will be it for a little while. Car needs fixing and money is a bit tight.

Have a good week everyone and welcome to any new quitters out there. :)

  • Fell off big style and had been smoking like a trooper again

Gave up again on Friday and not had any since then. According to SilkQuit have saved £18.88 and not smoked 77 cigarettes. Amazing to see how many I would have smoked on average over the last couple of days (was around 30 a day on average).

Anyway this time adamant I am off and staying off. Need to save the money and need to get myself back to being healthy again, its frightening to think 13 or 14 years ago I was fit enough to join the Royal Marines, not quite 30 yet and probably couldn't even manage the stairs to the doctors room for the medical

Well done to those of you who have managed to get off and stay off, I hope to be remain one of you.

Sue-UU thanks for the PM you sent me ages ago, only just noticed it yesterday:o

  • two weeks today without ciggies. Still using half a tablet of nic gum when I feel the urge so managing well. When I think of smoking I look in the mirror at my nice pink tongue and also my teeth are looking whiter. Will see the nurse again on Saturday, I find this weekly visit helps a lot.
    Best of luck to everyone

Very well done indeed Irish!!! :T You're doing wonderfully well and your Nurse'll be chuffed to bits with you. I think going regularly to folk who can urge you on is a brilliant idea, the best the NHS has come up with for helping smokers for a good while! Keep looking in the mirror daily, noticing how good your hair smells too, all those things really do help. If using half a tablet of nic gum as and when you need to is helping you get through your journey, then so be it...why not! However, as soon as you can give it the heave ho then do so, you'll know when that time is. Meanwhile - VERY well done!!!:D
