:jThe great thing about this thread is that it gives so much encouragment all round - to new quitters who can see that it CAN be done, and to long time quitters to keep up the motivation
Just wish - like others - that it wasn't hidden on a sub board
Pam
My quit stats (courtesy of my quitmeter on quitnet.com)
Time Smoke-Free: 253 days, 12 hours, 10 minutes and 13 secondsCigarettes NOT smoked: 6338
Lifetime Saved: 1 month, 18 days, 9 hours
Money Saved: £1,818.44
Thats a scary amount of money saved
How right you are Pam, that has been such a huge blow to us all, though mostly it will be - to those who used to see it so often...be jolted into thinking hard about it and wanting to do it...then coming here to lurk a while...before finally taking the plunge and.....QUITTING!!!It's so very sad that it's those poor folk who are going to miss out the most. BUT, we're still fighting to get back on DFW's main board and hoping...more than that we can't do, but where there's life......!
Those figures of yours are amazing and should be a real "voice" for what this thread stands for, AND...extremely MSE! :money:
Even better for you then tattycath, excellent!!! :T
Graeme that is fantastic news!!! :T You've been amazing all the way through, so determined to finish life as a smoker, very well done indeed!!! [Edit] Have just seen what you've added Graeme and you're so right, you always need to keep on your times. You'll know when you've made it through, believe me, all your senses will let you know. I hope you soon get there, but...all in good time as you can't rush it, though you sound as though you're fully aware of that. Keep staying strong and always think of your health!
Such wonderful news about you Kezza, your hubby too! :jYou're both doing so very well and sound as though you're so determined to end up as ex-smokers! Keep on staying as you are and it won't be long!!! :T
Keep up the quitting everyone, and never forget...apples...carrots...plenty of exercise and deep breathing, especially ALL at difficult times. We all wish you the best so you can keep healthy and gain thousands!!!

Hey All
Just checking in
Still resisting the evil weed - i actually went out with BF on the weekend and saw some poor souls standing outside the pub in the cold and thought how miserable they looked - and the smell as i walked by turned my stomach!
I have to admit i have been outside with my smoking colleauges a couple of times to catch up on the gossip but have no desire whatsoever to smoke, its more about keeping the social aspect for meI now know that if i am out with a group of smokers i can go outside with them and chat and not feel the urge (well, im still expecting it to jump out at me sometimes lol)
There are some really impressive stories on here! Well done to everyone who has quit successfully! Hearing all of your positive stories definatley helps!
Puzzled x0 -
Good to see you determined as ever to stay strong Puzzled, you are doing so very well and I'm really, really pleased for you. There's nothing wrong with going outside with your colleagues, if anything it proves just how strong you are!! :T
Well done!
Where is everyone??? Keep strong all wherever you are.

Haven't been on here for a while, I started giving up last week but caved in on Day 2, and felt terrible.
I started afresh this Monday, and I am now on Day 4 of not smoking so feeling really good.

Thanks Sue
Well done Sexy legs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every day is an achievement, hopefully you will have found something else to do to fill the previous smoking time0 -
Just popping back in to say hello to all on here, nice to see the same people still doing a fantastic job encouraging the newbies, just as they were when I first found this thread back in May. You guys kept me strong when I felt weak in the first few week. Thanks again for that, you know who you are. To all you newbies trying to kick the ciggies, try and stick with it and good luck, Paul:cool:0

I'm still about and not smoking. Funnily enough I am going away for the weekend to somewhere I have been before.
Last time I was smoking and it was either freezing or raining and it really spoiled the holiday for me having that feeling of needing to smoke. I can remember one night that I was so exasperated that it was still raining, that I had to go out in the end and crouched under this roof edge. Then walking in followed by that smell. Yuck.
Have a good weekend all. I am currently seeing a hypnotist in an effort to remove my habit of eating for comfort, so will let you all know how I get on. Sadly I weigh more than I did in my signature but I am determined to work on this problem now.
Well done all and welcome to any new quitters. Hang in there.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Very well done Sexy legs! :T As Puzzled says, every day you get through is an achievement for which you should be so very proud. We're with you ALL the way through this so stay strong, healthy too!
Hi Paul and thanks so very much indeed for that terrific news!!! :T It's always wonderful to hear back from those who've been successful and you have done yourself proud! Many congratulations on a great achievement, also for helping to urge others on with their battles! :j
Enjoy the weekend larmy, the new and pleasurable experience of visiting as a non smoker too!! :T Good luck with the weight, it'll happen. If you need more nibbles try some Sunflower Hearts as they are good for soaking up the bad fats in the body. Good luck with it and have a lovely weekend.

Hi Claire
Well done for getting so far. Just try to remember that the first three days are the worst in the respect that nicotine will nag at you. It is probably the habit, the breaks the putting things off or rewards for doing something are the times it happens = when you would normally stop to smoke.
After three days it is less intense. Luckily you do start to feel physically better quite soon. For me it was the absence of an anxious feeling (and guilt at destroying my body) that was most apparent. After a while, it was the wheezing and froggy throat that went.
Very best wishes to you. It should be a little easier with Champix I believe. Don't let your mind trick you as that is what it will be trying so hard to do!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
