  • Hi everyone

I'm joining you today and have stopped smoking. I put my last ciggie out before I went to bed last night, so, so far so good. I am not going to use NRT so will try and get through the 72 hours, it is nearly 12 hours now, not that I am counting LOL.

I have my orange juic, cranbery juice, yogurts, fruit so that should help with the cravings.

  • Hi everybody!

Just wanted to pop in and share my 101st day as a non smoker!!! Never in a million years did i think i would be saying that! Well done everybody and welcome Sexy Legs ( it does get easier honest!) Going to stop counting now as i now consider myself a NON SMOKER not an EX SMOKER. Won't get complacent though. Always on my guard.

    Keep up the good work.

....and you think the post above wasn't helpful too Puzzled? Read it through again and you'll see how helpful that would be to someone who may just be on the brink of thinking "oh what the he*l, I'll just have one!" A post such as you've put on could make all the difference in the world and it's those sort of motivational posts that inspire others to push ahead to continue with being a non-smoker...or to take the bull by the horns and decide to quit!!! :D Well done Puzzled, you are doing SO very well, keep up that fantastic work and stay healthy!:j

Brilliant news Sexy Legs!!! :T Add apples and carrots to your list, water too. Then do as much exercise as you can, it helps no end. Cleaning your teeth at a moment of weakness is another aversion, so is thumping he*l out of a pillow or something similar!! :T Well done on going cold turkey, you'll soon lose the nicotine from your system that way. We're here for you so never think twice about coming on, even if someone isn't here at the time you'd be amazed at what putting your feelings down on 'paper' can do to benefit you, writing imaginery texts, or real ones..or ones that you write but never send, it's all things to take the mind away........use them and get a hold of your health again!!!

Congratulations on becoming a NON SMOKER magicgirl68!!! :TYou've done amazingly well and I hope you're as proud as you possibly could be of yourself. You've done the very best thing you'll ever do in your life and it sounds as though you've reached your goal for sure! :T Well done on the complacency part. Terrific news!!!

All the very best to EVERYBODY and stay strong and keep up the great work....you'll soon be making yourself so very proud of your achievement!

  • Drum roll please....today is 18 months since I stopped smoking.
I can’t believe it has been that long, if only paying debts off was that easy! ;) I say easy because I’ve only had a few occasions and crises where I had the sudden urge to go to a shop and buy some but I never did, apart from that, it has been plain sailing.

For those of you that don’t know, I had hypnotherapy and it has by and large been the best £120 I have ever spent. In various stages over 18 months I have referred 16 of my friends, family and co-workers to get it done as well, including my OH, and all but 1 have successfully managed to become non-smokers (the 1 who didn't manage it is going back for free top-up session next month). They say it doesn’t work for everyone, but I would say it’s a lot easier than just trying to give up cold turkey (which I tried, and failed to, in the past). Anyway, I’m not trying to advertise or push this method on anyone but wanted to give you all a message of hope and encouragement and possibly give it a go if you have exhausted all other avenues.

Good luck however you manage it and keep up the good work :A

WOW ENQ, that is really marvellous news!!! Very many congratulations for reaching out, working hard and....achieving your goal!!!:T I can telly just how thrilled at your success you are, quite responsible also for helping others find a means which worked for them too! Great news! :j I know you're not flogging the hypnosis too much, but at least it might be helpful to anyone who's really struggled with other means and got nowhere! All the very best as a NON-SMOKER!! :T

Lots of long-time posters giving us updates on here recently :D so very well done to all of you :T:T:T

Shame this thread has been moved over to the diaries board, as has some others that I think would have been more beneficial if kept on the DFW board to those that are looking at ways to cut their spending and help with their debts.

Never mind, hopefully people will find us over here.

Keep on giving support to all and staying smoke free :D

I couldn't agree more Jo, it seems such a crying shame that as a result of it being on the diaries board, far fewer people will get to see it and think more and more about quitting - then finally do so! We're not even a diary thread any way! When you think about the move, it's not very MSE at all, which is a real surprise as most things done here are.

    Perplexed, Sue x

    Morning All!

Just became aware that I have not checked in for a few days. I am on about week 20 now and still not smoking - thank goodness.

As stated in previous post, I have had a few iffy moments, but iffy moments are a fact of life and so are thoughts and for some quitters, thoughts about smoking. All well and good, as despite the thoughts I did not smoke, despite my partner telling me he would not mind one bit if I smoked to cope with my distress! Ha, even though he has never smoked, he bless his heart thinks you can have just a few here and there!!!!!

Well I'm still here folks and as I look out my window - to the reality that winters on the way, I can only raise my hands in thankfullness that there is no need for me to go out there to have a fix. :)

Have a good weekend all and welcome to any new quitters.
