just wanted to drop by and say it was 20 months (on 1st October) since I stopped smoking!!!
I went cold turkey when I stopped and although it took loads of willpower at first, I barely think about it now-in fact I can't stand the smell of cigarettes any more.
well done everyone so far and continued good luck!!!GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Well done Larmy, yes I know what you mean about winter. No more cowering outside the office in my lunch break battling with the wind and rain and an umbrella that keeps blowing inside out just to have a fag, having people looking at me like I'm nuts!!
Tattycath, great to have you post on here again! I am so glad you are still quit, I remember when you first started posting! Well donexx

Excellent news tattycath, you've done marvellously!!!:T I can also remember you first coming on and quitting, then occasionally wondering just how well you were doing. I'm thrilled to bits for you at your success....
....your too larmy!!! :T:T Congratulations to you both, keep remaining strong and looking forward to winter! The next few months will have you both thinking, as you well know, how delighted you are to have said goodbye to the 'orrible little things!!!
Where's everyone else got to these days?? Wherever they are, we know that they're bound to be enjoying keeping off fags and getting back into a healthy lifestyle!! Stay strong everyone and remember, that you CAN do it!!!

keep going people. I am over 9 months now without a smoke. I fancied one on holiday, but I didn't actually have one, so that's the main thing.0

Well done Graeme. I remember your posts back in May when I began my quit. I particularly remember you saying about the impossibility of one puff and look at you.

Hi Guys
Great to see you all doing so well!!
Me & Hubby are on about week 13 ,I think, and still both going strong.
We aren't using the patches anymore mainly because we kept forgetting to put them on!!
Which can only be a good thing.
Cigerettes rarely enter my head now and the smell Just turns my stomach.
Quitting was definately the best thing we could have done, we have so much energy and the bank balance is looking healthy too!!!!
Its tough to start with when you first quit but so very worth it in the end!!!
Keep going, if we can do it anyone can!Quit Day - 8th July 2009.0 -
:jThe great thing about this thread is that it gives so much encouragment all round - to new quitters who can see that it CAN be done, and to long time quitters to keep up the motivation
Just wish - like others - that it wasn't hidden on a sub board

Well, I would not say I have done it.
If I forget that one single puff will pull me back into active nicotine addiction, I am doomed.
This addiction needs constant vigilance.
Every day I think about the fact that I will NOT SMOKE today, and I need to do that.
Sure I can have a 20 seconds thought about having a ciggie, but then I need to remember that it would never be just one ciggie, but years and years of being a slave to nicotine0
