  • Morning.
Given up on the e-cig thing, back to the drawing board.

Have realised that this month 25 yrs ago as a fresh faced 16 year old I started college and started this relationship with nicotene. If someone had seriously sat me down and said you smoke this you'll still be doing it in your 40's I would have laughed.

    Thanks Sue :-)

I have realised it a few times, i got lazy and just became a fat smoking slob and in my 20's its not really a good look! Still fat but if i can sort out the smoking and lazyness it only leaves one thing to tackle when i get round to it :-)

    Morning.

Oh dear DC, never mind, but just as soon as the mood strikes you...go for it again!
Weird how we can all look back at when we first started and relate to it and our feelings IF we'd known then what we know now. I'd like to think you would have listened to any person of our ages and who been through it all, when you were 16, but....honestly? I bet you wouldn't! Nor would I, I'm sure! :o Had we known all the consequences IF we'd chosen to go ahead with so much knowledge, and still been stupid enough to ignore folk....who knows! I'd love to think YES, I'd have taken note and quit then! However, we're all alike at that age, we never think these things will affect us, and we certainly didn't think of the consequences of it all...not back then anyway. It does make me angry these days though, they know all that goes with smoking - yet STILL they do it!!! That part I'll never understand.

As soon as you get the "maybe I could do it now" feeling DC, go for it, and let nowt stop you! :D

Hi again Bufger. Well, you're quitting the fags now, and have become a non smoker, why not grab the bull by the horns and master the weight too....while you're still so young! Sometimes it's best to do the two at the same time. Take plenty of exercise and expand your lungs, then gradually build it up. Doing this as well as drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of fruit will soon have you feeling a whole lot different and you'll want to improve in it. You're young Bufger, go for it before regrets set in, they will otherwise! Good luck! ;)

Welcome to the thread bellabb! It's always so good to welcome on another quitter! :D All the best for tomorrow. If things get a bit tough then alter your day around. If you usually have a hot drink and a *** after getting up, then go and clean your teeth and get a fresh mouth instead. Change shower/bath times round, anything you can think of. You may need to alter drinks too, especially coffee, just for a while until you adapt. Food types and times may be better if changed a little. All those things can make such a difference mentally, especially substituting cig times with going for a brisk walk....though you may be one of those who sails through without any problems! After 3 days you'll be free from nicotine :j, but you'll need to be aware of old 'Nick' possibly still trying to mess with your head and encourage you to quit stopping. Ignore it and tell it to clear off!!! Plenty of exercise is key to being successful, so is water and keeping busy! All the very best to you.

Have a great week everyone....another week to take you closer to that glorious finishing line! You CAN do it, you all have it in you to get your lives back!!! :D

That is so me!!! I'm connecting the fags with the laziness too although I have to admit I'm nearly 6 months smoke free now but still haven't countered the lazy factor just yet. I will though!

    Hi all

Another non smoking week under my belt. I think I stopped some time in May - cannot remember the exact date but I am on about my 15th week or so?

It is brilliant to be free of nicotine - to not feel twitchy and distracted because your body needs a fix. This is not to say that I never have an odd fleeting thought about smoking. I do not feel the need to act on it however.

Good luck all you new quitters, it really does get so much easier the more time passes.:)

Hi Niki and a warm welcome to the thread, the place where we ALL wish you the very best in your quest to become far more healthy! You're doing it with your DH too, that's good as you can support each other through it all. In your post above you said " am feeling very wobbly but I'm determined to last the first day" and that's how most of us start out. Now at the start of each new day repeat the latter part of that quote and take it a day at a time. I've sent you the PM, that should help, so will coming on the board. You'll get plenty of help and support from us here. All the very best! If you're interested then why not join us here and get more help with saving!

    bellabb, you're welcome. Anytime.

I think I used to be a bit that way too SandC, congratulations BTW!!! :T

Many congratulations to you also larmy!!! :T You've done amazingly well this time and you sound so very committed to never going back! You've so much to be so very proud of!!! :D

  • Hi everyone. I am stopping smoking tomorrow and actually starting to look forward to it. Slightly uneasy feeling in my stomach but hoping to overcome that.
Well done to everyone in this thread for doing so well and I hope that I can replicate your success.
