I hit 5 months on tuesday (I rounded up in the title because I haven't a clue how many weeks or days that is now!), and don't really ever get any cravings but that might be because I quit with Champix and that turns off the nicotine receptors in your brain.
And Larmy got a tip for you with the dieting, TicTacs!! They have been my savior when first giving up smoking and also to stop me stuffing my face. I always have some in my bag, and pop a couple instead of smoking/eating
Well done, I was 5 months yesterday on Allen Carr clinic. Whatever that clinic does from a psychotherapy point of view it works. It was actually an enjoyable experience to stop smoking forever. I have not needed to alter any habits either.0 -
Many congratulations on 5 months of being a non-smoker Shelly!!! :T Amazing work and so very much to be proud of! You too SandC!!! You were both determined to quit and wouldn't let anything stand in your way, you're both to be admired!!!
I hope today (Sat) has been a much better one for you WASHER. Take note of what SandC says and see just how long each are affecting you, that's what counts, not the number of times you're like it as that's natural. You'll soon be turning the corner now and feeling a lot better about it. Have you not noticed any good points yet? Anything at all, if so, count all those times up and write down what each is so you can take a look every time. You'll soon find the difference you're feeling without even having realised it. BTW. You've had some brilliant advice up there!
Well done karmacookie...to your little hairy friend too! Exercise is great for distracting you, keep it up!
Don't weigh yourself too much larmy! Try going on how you feel and see if that helps. Very well done on the 4 Lb loss!! :T
Have a great Sunday folks, another one to chalk up as a smoke-free Sunday!

Sometimes I think it's not good to post that you still have urges down the line as it may stop newer non smokers having a go, but I think what I am experiencing is an association and a learned response which of course I have to unlearn and there must be others who still retain a bit of that.
Morning all
It's really important to post when you get a bout of cravings, even if it is weeks or months down the line, this will prepare other people of what to expect. Never become complacent
Washer, how are you doing, been reading your posts with interest, you write really well, it brings it all back to me :rotfl: my thoughts are with you though, hope you are riding the waves?
Congratulations to all the success stories on here recently, of which there are many :T:T:T:T
Keep at it

Hi everyone.
Still not smoking so that's great but last weekend just gone I did find it tough, not in the sense that I thought I would smoke but because I am supposed to be trying to get the weight off too. I did cave in on Saturday and have a big (as opposed to a standard!) bag of Revels!!!
Still, today I can report a 2 lbs weight loss which does not sound so good, but I am at that certain age and my metabolism is darned slow these days. If I think of it as a bag of sugar, then I am happy.
Very quiet on the thread these days. Where are you all?

Still not smoking. Its not been easy but taking one day at a time. My husband is getting most of the flack for me not smoking, but he did buy me some flowers on Friday, so that cheered me up.
Larmy16, well done on the weight loss.
A huge thank you to you all for supporting me on this, my biggest achievement to date had been, giving birth (I hate pain), I remember the sense of achievement and how proud I was that I had managed it without too much fuss, its the same with the smoking, I feel like I'm actually achieving something.
My teeth look whiter, my tongue is a lovely pink colour and my purse is much heavier.0
