Morning all! The post man woke me up - with a parcel I mean!!!

Just listening to LBC and the subject this morning is giving up smoking! Apparently there is some guy who will be going to a remote island in a bid to give up his 30 a day habit.

It just goes to show how well we are all doing really. :) Well I am feeling quietly optimistic that I am getting ready to tackle my eating problem along with staying quit.

All is well. Have a good weekend everyone. Any lurkers out there please do jump in a join us. Later on I am going to dig out my journal and see just how long it has been since I dumped my tobacco. :)

Went on the champix in march, and gave up a week later, killed a 20 yr smoking habit in one attempt, after countless on the patches/willpower/fad attempts.

they work, and they are free from your GP. cannot recommend them enough

Bungle that is great information. I was given Zyban - and it worked very easily. Unfortunately I still had my psychological attatchment and to my regret and shame over -rode the quit and re-started.

This made it difficult for me to go back to the doctor (in my mind) She did say however, that if the Zyban did not work I could try Champix but due to the expense, they tried Zyban first.

    Congratulations on stopping.

Deeks, don't feel bad about eating that boost, you need something to take your mind off the fags at the moment, as Larmy is doing, deal with any weight gain later, the most important thing is to quit the fags with as little grief as possible. Sorry to hear about your relationship with your wife (((())))

Larmy, looking forward to hearing about your progress!

It's day 25 for me and Im still smokefree, hubby too!! this week has been great!:j
The new patches are working brill and the chemist phoned yesterday to let me know that my inhalator had come, I picked it up this morning although I dont think I'll be needing it, but it's there Just incase.

Ive noticed the last few days that my throat has felt really hoarse, it's not sore but its a struggle to speak, hubby is loving the peace and quiet:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

We've noticed how much better food tastes and I think our slightly expanding waist lines are proof of that!!;) My size 8's will have to be replaced with size 10's soon me thinks, perfect excuse for a shopping trip to Next with the money we've saved from not smoking lol.........

Hope everyone is doing ok, and have a fab weekend!!!:D

bungle -i totally agree with the champix.ive smoked for 20 years and have tried the patches, inhalator etc but im on the champix now and im over a week without a cig now and no problems that dont pass quickly.they are brilliant.
i think i will start on carrot and celery sticks instead of the twix sticks:rotfl:

  • Hi ev1

I am on the 4th day of my quit and feeling quite chuffed with myself. I need to go out at the moment but just wanted to quicky introduce myself and say well done to all the ex smokers who use this thread.

I waited until the 4th day before posting as I usually cave within the first 3 days :o

    Bye

It is not a matter of if you will go to war with quitting smoking, but a matter of WHEN you will go to war - will you go while you are healthy and in control or when you are dying?

I am giving up smoking this week. I needed to put it in writing to make it real. Haven't set the final date yet but will post when I do.

My will power is normally pretty good (unless shoes are involved) so fingers crossed.

I want to quit cos I'm fed of of nicotine being in control and making decisions in my life, rather than me. Plus the taste and smell are just disgusting. I need to quit cos I'd rather spend my hard earned dosh on other things and it just doesn't fit into my new life.

Good luck to everyone else just starting out on their smoke free life.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

Good luck Penelopedee and Odio. You can do it. Just join the thread and come along for the ride. We are all at different stages. Yes writing it down does help and make it more real.

Well here I am nicotine free and about to start my weight loss journey starting tomorrow. I am going to have to treat it the same way I did for nicotine too. One day at a time and accept it is another addiction (eating when not hungry) that I have to tackle.

Can it really be Sunday already. Boo hoo. Back to work tomorrow.

    Keep strong fellow quitters.
