Hey folks - just wanted to give a word of encouragement because I remember how important it was for me!

On the 3rd March this year I quit smoking - and I found that the first 7 days to be the hardest in my life. Screaming into a pillow in the evenings hard because of all the triggers surrounding me! 6 months in September!

It is possible though! Good luck everyone, if I can do it, anybody can!!

Thanks for all the good wishes. Had plenty going on after work so managed to ignore the cravings. Not going to read or post much more tonight though cos its reminding me!

I think my worse times are going to be straight afterwork and Saturday morning. If I can do that I will be fine.
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

  • Well I am 'officially' into week 2 of my quit:j My previous attempt lasted around 8 weeks and I genuinely thought, at the time, that I had it in the bag. Life however can throw a stumbling block or ten in your path and you have to be mentally strong and aware to handle nicotine oppression. I wasn't when I succumbed to the "just the one" but I truly feel that this is my time.

I am having the odd crave but they pass so quickly and do not tempt me in the slightest. No longer smoking is vital as part of my new healthy approach to physical and financial fitness. I have already saved £40 in the past 7 days.

Now thats motivation right there :T

I have decided to post on this thread every Thursday (weekly anniversary) as a motivational tool for myself. I hope you all dont mind my ramblings.

    Thanks

It is not a matter of if you will go to war with quitting smoking, but a matter of WHEN you will go to war - will you go while you are healthy and in control or when you are dying?

Very well done indeed Odio la deuda!:T 2 weeks is a good time and takes some doing, so be very proud of yourself!

You haven't rambled at all, we all simply say how it affects us, but that's what the thread was designed for - to help folk help each other as well as their selves, so talk away to your heart's content. We'll listen, and no doubt in time as you progress, you'll be helping others too! Keep up the great work Odio, you CAN get there!

    hi everyone
Im new to this board, and have been reading some of it (havent had time to do all 90 pages yet!) and Im finding it inspiring. Well done to everyone who has struggled through and succeeded!
I am finally coming round to the idea of quitting smoking, I have been smoking since i was 15 (im now 30!) so have realised that I have been smoking for half my life which is terrible.
Im not quite ready to say goodbye totally to the cigs just yet, but getting nearer every day (I know this sounds like a bit of a cop out). So hopefully in the next few weeks or so i will become a regular poster on here and share some of the success!!

Once again well done to everyone and I will be joining you all in being smoke free very soon.
There, I have typed it now so I will have to do it.
