Lynnee welcome to the thread. Hopefully it wont be long before you come back and have taken "the step".

Oooh I am suffering folks. I walk in the door from work and there is a gap so wide I am clinging to the sides. What is this gap you may ask? The gap is where I replaced smoking with eating and now I can't even eat!!!!!!! Well I can, but I am choosing not to. :D

I am chewing on a biro as I write this! The cat has been fed and the fish have been fed and now I have to cook something. This is the hard part, as before I would have just crammed something (chocolate, sweets, nice crusty bread) into my mouth and while I know carrots are the sensible choice, well I guess you know what I mean.

I suspect the weekend is going to be a little tough and there may be a little stamping of feet and maybe some tears. I am still, however, so glad to not be smoking.

    Hi guys,

Just thought I'd pop in quickly to say well done to everyone and keep up the good work:T

Hi Sue hope you had a great holiday..........

Larmy, do you like salad??? If you do, have it with everything, except brekkie of course and vegetable meals........ I fill half a plate with salad and the other half with what we are having eg, lasagne, pasta even chips lol, I find it fills me up , so I dont tend to nibble and also drink sparkling water when you eat, it bloats you up, so you eat less.

Well, its day 30 for us and we are both still going strong:T
I find I'm not thinking about ciggies as much now and when the thought enters my head (habitual) it pops straight back out again!!
We had a phonecall from our NRT councillor yesterday............. to see how we are getting on and to congratulate us on hitting the 4 week mile stone, we were both so chuffed, we never expected it and were grinning like cheshire cats afterwards.:rotfl:

Anyway, got to dash now, hubby is fitting a new bathroom suite and is shouting for help!!!

Keep up the good work guys, we can do it!!!!:D

Still here - still smoke free :j
It'll be 7 months on the 25th of this month :D I honestly don't know how I afforded to smoke (yes I do - there was always too much month left at the end of the money...) Caught a glimpse of the price of my ciggies when i was in the newsagent - £5.85 a packet
Well done to all the new quitters here - you're giving yourself a great gift. Keep focused - it's so worth it!

Excellent news! :T EVERYONE is doing just great, and with some I can almost feel the pride you now have in yourselves. I'm so pleased you keep coming back to share it all with us. Keep up the marvellous work, it's so very worth it as you're all finding out.

Thanks a lot Kezza, we had a great holiday with almost perfect weather. Well done to you both as a couple, you're doing a brilliant job......

.....you too Pam!! :T Getting closer to that 7 month record is fantastic! You've really done just brilliantly and what a saving!! ;)

A good idea with the salad Kezza! You and larrmy will soon be at your desired weights!
Keep strong penelopedee, the better days will soon follow and you too will so soon be immensely proud of yourself.

Such a proud day for you also Rossy! Take a tip from Kezza and larmy with the "salad with everything" diet, heck if it works then that's all that matters! Don't forget plenty of exercise and no nibbling too though girls!!!

Hi lynneee and do try not to leave it too long before going ahead and smoking your last ciggie. Don't let fear of quitting stop you, that's what happens to so many of us bot it just doesn't work like that once you stop and realise it CAN be done!

Hi John Rolex and how right you are with all you've said, BUT the full credit for all the info on this thread and the previous one we had last year HAS to go to Jo1972 as it was all started by her when she started quitting and like so many others....succeeded! Mrs T merely restarted this thread using all Jo's information. So very well done indeed to JO, not only has she managed to beat it herself, but is responsible for so many having quit!! :T

Have a great weekend everyone, breathe in plenty of that fresh air, such a change from the filthy stuff you used to be inhaling! :D Don't be tempted with the booze mind!

Have a good smoke free weekend everyone. I have masses to do today, have a good de-clutter, moving furniture round for a change, that kind of thing - so hopefully I will be so occupied I will keep my fingies out of the biscuit tin (I don't have one :)).

All aboard on the Quitters Train!

It's obscene isn't it? The price of the things.
I have just done 7 months and feel great.

Not smoking gets better and better. I cannot wait for one year!!

    Hi everyone :hello:

I've been a smoker on and off for about 15 years, after turning 30 a couple of months ago I've decided it's time to get my life sorted and first thing to go has to be the smoking!! Not just for the financial and health benefits (which of course are great incentives) but I have two little girls who deserve a mum who is going to do all she can to make sure she is there for them rather than poisoning myself with ciggies and wasting money that could provide us with a better life.

I am currently on day 5 smoke free :j, going cold turkey and not doing too badly with cravings (substituting with food but which is the lesser evil), my flat does not reek of fags for a change, and according to SilkQuit have saved a staggering £33.42 so far as I had started smoking more the last year and was getting through 20 a day .

Just wanted to say hi, good luck to all those quitting and huge well done to all those who have quite and are living happy tobacco free lives. Looking forward to getting many tips from you all on how to cut them out for good.

    Well done gizmo
I've put weight on these past 6 months since I quit - but now I'm not craving a smoke any more, I've found I'm not craving a substitute ie food!
I've just got started on Weight Watchers - fingers crossed I can shift some pounds :o;)

Good for you with keeping up the weight loss larmy, it sounds as though you're so determined with both vices, good for you! We don't have a biscuit tin either, well we do, but we banned it from being used after I gave up as I had no will-power where those little blighters were concerned!

Excellent news of you having gone for 7 months now Graeme! :TVery well done!

Hi and welcome to the thread gizmo! It's always a great day to see another quitter join the fold. You've done really well so far having got past 5 days, well done you!:T Food may take over for a while - BUT - if you step up on the exercise you'll counteract it, as well as help clear your lungs and chest by breathing more deeply. I love the way you're viewing your little girls, kiddies can help so much with us quitting and they'll be so proud of you for doing it, it'll also keep them from worrying about "what ciggies are doing to mummy" too!

One way to help is to clean through the flat, it helps get rid of anything smoke related and is very therapeutic too. Water is a good help, both to help with any cravings and to help fill you up so you don't nibble all the time. Fruit is another good thing, always have plenty in, fresh carrots, celery etc too. All help as nibbles, again to help with cravings and to keep you away from calories. I'm sending you a PM with tips - so if you haven't got the Private Message facility open on your User CP (top left of the page above) it would be good if you could. You can always close it again IF you no longer wish to receive PMs. All the very best gizmo, we'll always be here to help you through, so too will your little ones!:D

Have a lovely Sunday everyone make it another great day to add to the others, however far along the journey you are. Each additional day is a step closer to your goal!!
