I have noticed that Ive felt a bit light headed this morning and had a terribly dry mouth, is this normal, can't remember getting it last time I tried to stop.

This light headed one is actually a VERY GOOD symptom according to my stop smoking counsellor - it means that oxygen is flowing around your body more freely and clearing out the carbon monoxide. It should pass after a couple of days. Sure the dry mouth thing is completely normal too. Congrats on your decision !

Well done guys on giving up, keep taking it day by day and I'm sure you'll be fine, I'm still using this thread as a massive inspiration on my mission since quitting so thanks to all for posting...Paul.

LondonAndy highlights a very good point, that in my opinion is not highlighted enough when we are given all the health horror stories about why we should stop smoking.

That is gum disease. I had it (well apparently 98% of us do but it is particularly virulent in smokers) and I was a very light smoker, with long long periods of not smoking - in multiple quit attempts.

It is very frightening to be told you may lose your teeth and to see how your gums have receded.

Yet having said all that - I had a terrible day yesterday. So much is going wrong at the moment and naturally Nick made a whispering appearance yesterday on my way home from work. Unbelievable! He said "Just buy a packet of ten, smoke them and then stop again tomorrow" - it was actually thinking about all you guys on here that helped me march past the shop - sadly home to a Cadburys caramel, but it was either that or attack someone!!!!

It is frightening to think that he lurks inside the bad days. Prior to this, I was of the illusion I was free at last. And yet I am still Free!

    Keep it up everyone.

    Thanks for all your replies.

Well I had a good day yesterday, didn't have any cravings although my kids said I was a bit ratty late afternoon. The light headed feeling has passed, thank goodness, I spent most of yesterday walking around like I was drunk;), Im sure the teachers thought I'd had a few when I picked my youngest up!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:The dry mouth has also gone.

I woke up feeling quite refreshed and energetic today considering I felt like I was awake most of the night, I kept having really weird vivid dreams, and I don't normally dream!! Wonder if it's anything to do with my patch, I left it on all night. I might take it off a bedtime tonight to see...........

Im quite liking how calm I feel, Im a right stress-head normally, always running around like a headless chicken.

We normally get a Dvd and have a few drinks to chill on a friday or saturday night but Im thinking it may be a good idea to give alcohol a miss for a few weeks, from reading the thread it's seems this will give you a wobble?

Theres £22 in my pot at the moment, Im liking this part of not smoking, Im wishing tommorrow would come quicker so I can add that lol.........:j:j

Anyways, got to dash, hope everybody else is feeling great and will check back laters...............:D:D:D

well some people find they can have a little drink straight away! I found that i cant lol. See how you feel! you shouldnt change anything about your life - just enjoy being a non-smoker right away! Except that alcohol can make you loose your rational brain for a little while as we all know im sure!

as for the pot - mine has £60 in it as of today! woo hoo!!

Good Morning Funkymonkey!! Day 3 for me so £33 in pot...............
I felt quite restless late on yesterday and was very snappy:eek:, so my daughter and I decided to go for a wander round the shops, well it was more window shopping as I didn't feel like buying anything, which is so not like me!!! Daughter kept asking if I was ok:rotfl::rotfl: I can't seem to make a decision about anything lately and for some reason I dont want to spend any money lol!!!

I tried one of the 'mint' lozenges that I got with my patches, never again, it was like inhaling ground black pepper, my throat was on fire and by the time I had finished sucking the damn thing I was green!!

I have noticed that I can 'smell' the people who smoke and the people who don't which makes me think omg, I used to smell like that!! In a way though it's making me more determinded to quit for good now that I have begun to notice these things.

Anyway got to run now, got pent up energy to burn off.................Hope you are all doing ok? sys x:D

I was a 30 a day man and was coughing like crazy. If you click on the link it will show you what I have been using. My aim was to substitute 15 cigs a day with this. I have done far better than that and I am aiming to kick cigs for good. There is a bit of a price to get yourself set up but in the long run it is far cheaper and also much healthier.

My coughing has almost stopped and I am feeling better. Nice, easy breathing.

Not sure i like the idea of that electric cigarette - all those chemicals it must use to reproduce the smoke taste LOL (as if real ciggies are any better!)

Kezzae - Congrats! three days is great! - The dizzy strange feeling will go! i promice. As for the lozenges - i have a full box but one here! i tried them and they are gross! the burning at the back of the throat was too much for me! And £33! can you believe that you spend £300 a month on cigarettes!
