well the alan carr method is the way that i quit. Its not easy though. The book is called "The Easyway to stop smoking" by Allan Carr. He has a website too you can google. I found the DVD helpful as a little booster and have it on my phone. Its a totally different outlook. They tell you why you smoke not why you shouldnt. then you can break it.

Its a couple of days of hard work then actually its been fine! cold turkey. No long term NRT.

Ive been walking around in a daze for a couple of weeks now. I must say that I dont feel 100% safe in that evil nic lurks around every corner. But im happy not to be smoking, im happy not to get that heady tired feeling straight after ive woken up. Im gonna fight it!

    Morning all!!
Well it's day 4 for me and hubby and £44 in pot!!:j:j
Had a few drinks last night but was really worried incase I badly craved a ciggie, and I am pleased to say that I didn't, the thought of a ciggie never even entered my head. Did notice that I was snacking though!!! Hmmm think I will pop to Tesco later and stock up on carrots and celery..............

The light headedness and dry mouth have gone.....yay!! Im still feeling really positive and really like the feeling of calmness Im experiencing ( didn't get snappy yesterday!lol). It's lovely when the wind blows my hair across my face and it smells fresh and not of ciggie smoke, have also noticed that the dark circles under my eyes are starting to fade.:D

Hope you're all doing Ok and will check back later! x

    Love, Sue x

Hi kezzae, it's so good to have you with us! I've been a bit rough for a few days, but ok now. I've read your first post and see just why you and you hubby are getting into the new life once again. Well done you! :T How good it is for your youngsters to watch you both helping each other, knowing you're taking great care of your health as well as theirs. You'll not do anything that has such a brilliant impact on your life and especially your health.

You did really well in resisting any temptation whilst drinking, keep it up and always use the phrase "I'm a non-smoker" or "no thanks, I no longer smoke" IF anyone should offer you one. In time you may even help them see the light and realise that quitting is a great idea! 4 days is really great, you've come along way already, keep it up and always stay strong and before you know it, you'll have hit a week!!! Don't forget to get some apples as well as the carrots and celery and exercise as much as possible, it'll do you wonders. Good to hear you're noticing the smell's gone!!

Great news about you larmy, funkymonkey, you also Paul. You're both doing so very well and achieving more with each passing day!!! :T You're both doing so much in helping others, it shows a lot as it helps you so very much too. Keep it up girls and always stay strong and focused on "I WILL do it this time!!!!

Hi Lily! I think you'll find JBD quit 3 years ago and is just here to congratulate everyone and spur them on. Thanks so much for that JBD, LondonAndy and Pobby, you've all done wonderfully well, thank you so much for letting us all know that anyone CAN quit!

All the very best everyone, you're all doing excellently. Have a good Sunday and feel that fresh air going into your lungs....NOT poison!!!:T Urging you all on....

    Hi All,

Am just on for a quick update, will try and post more later if pants laptop lets me!

Back from my hols and managed to keep on resisting - 2 1/2 weeks now and i feel great - i have also found that im not thinking about it so much, last time i quit i was addicted to checking the silk quit counter but i havent installed it this time - i might later since i think im over the worst little bit now, the next hardest time will be on a night out and since i dont have a night out planned until well into August then i should be fine :D

Well done to everyone on saving those pennies and skipping the fags :D
