13 days is a fantastic accomplishment AnnaMonkey....and that's just so far!:T The lack of stains, smell, coughing, and health going downhill are great incentives, focus on them Anna and go the course!!
Very well done funkymonkey! You're doing just fine, and that was so good to do something so positive when feeling a little....well, you know. Keep it up FM and watch that money grow - along with your health!!!:T
Hi Puzzled,
That looks a great sight that your friend led you to! So, you've another day to add to your non-smoker days. The words "I am a non-smoker" really used to do it for me and make me so proud....so, if you stay quit, you're already a NON-SMOKER!!!!:T
Well, with you and I both being from the "Sealed Pot Challenge" it certainly makes sense to start another pot and keep motivated for that laptop!!! You have to do whatever you're happiest/comfortable with though, so whatever that is, go for it, but if it isn't working then find another. Either way it has to be right for you!
Keep so very strong everyone. You're all doing yourself so much good, all helping each other through it all too! :j I'm so proud of you all and hope you are even more so!:T

Now i just need to decide if i am going to keep my "fag" money seperate - last time when i did that it just made me think about smoking more so i mgiht forego that for the moment but not sure
what do the rest of you do? Do you save it or do you just stop budgeting for it?

Heya!
This is the one point of quitting that irritates me! I smoked roll ups so I spent about ... ooo a £10 a month on filters/rizlas etc, maybe £12 at most. Yes, that's £120 a year, but not really worth starting a jar for, and quitting didn't alter my finances in any way! not that i wish i'd wasted more money than that :rotfl:
I think that the sealed pot idea sounds good though!0 -
Hi everyone
Just popped in to say still going strong with my lozenges. Had a couple of drinks at the weekend and when other people were going for a smoke, I had a lozenge! Not quite the same I know but at least I didn't smell of smoke and I didn't have that horrible feeling the next morning. My skin is starting to look a lot better now as well and my chest isn't as tight as it used to be. Keep going everybody and good luck!0 -
Hi yesterday at 6.30pm was the start of my non smoking me, I woke at 6 this morning though an had 1, I have not had one since, so that is 1 cig in nearly 24 hours. I have been using the nicorette inhalator but I think I'm going to fail in a bit and go buy some bacci tut. I was thinking of maybe trying the 1 in a morning and 1 at night see how i go with that rather than almost cold turkey.0

Hi VanillaDelia and welcome to the thread.
As you probably know by now, I've sent a PM to see if it'll help you. You have to do what you feel is best, the only thing that worries me if you begin to try to keep to 2 a day is that, eventually, you'll begin to creep up. If you already have and use the inhalator, then why not go the whole hog and stick to not smoking at all. It's far quicker that way, easier too as (aside from the inhalator) you take away the nicotine. Then when you wean yourself off the inhalator too, you're getting no nicotine in your body at all and you're free from it after 3 days! Then is when you get rewarded!
Try hard to resist buying any baccy and see just how far you can go yourself by willpower alone. You have some ideas which will help you get through, plus you have us here to have a growl at....and to boast to when you're feeling SO good about what you've achieved. That very first complete day free is wonderful, the first week free is fantastic! Need I say more! Do your best to think of your health, to get it back!
All the best Delia.

I also used to smoke roll-ups Anna, so for me it wasn't really the expense either, but it WAS the health part that I got my biggest buzz from. To think before what might be going on inside of me due to "my mate" (puh) Nic was terrifying and it's that which made me strive to quit and to stay quit....and it worked. That's the only problem with making expense the prime reason, it's what happens when you get your debts paid. Luckily that wasn't a problem for me as my health will always remain the biggest and most important thing to me about quitting. I hope everyone's main reason for chucking the fags is their health....we don't many chances with that! YOU by the way, are doing marvellously!:j
Well done magicgirl!! The lozenges didn't go onto your lungs either!oooh it's a great step forward when you can see the difference in your skin, your scent too! Keep looking at all the positives MG, you're doing just great!!
Keep it up all, it's such a great thing that you're doing, the ending of a bad era, all the delights of the new one!:T

Sue
*blushes* i have to say that it's a great help having you and this board here Sue, thank you so much! Totally agree about the health thing, and especially as it's sunny at the moment I'm feeling great! it's brilliant!0 -
Hey Guys and Gals (and welcome newbies )
Well, i have got through the day - went on a customer visit 3 hours drive each way away with a colleague who is a non smoker and all i have thought throughout the day is how glad i am that im not smoking.
As well as all of the paranoia about the meeeting etc i normally worry about people making a bad judgement about me becuase i smoke and then i worry about the personal judgements made if i have bad breath because of the smoking and then worrying about how i was going to get a cigarette in before the meeting and then before we got in the car to come back and then the rush when i get back to the office to have a fag before i did anything else.
For the first time in ages i felt kinda liberated
I havent put any money by yet - am thinking that im kinding tempting fate by saying that the amount of money im saving has a purpose because then its kinda the pride before a fall.
Well done to Sue and everyone else that has quit becuase of the health benefits, hope everyone has had a good smoke free day and that everyone has had the lovely weather

Oh Puzzled, that sounds exactly as I felt in all the years that I smoked, a nervous wreck about how others viewed (and smelled ) me. It makes us gibbering wrecks, it's the stress that the nicotine itself brings on. Rather than us believing it calms us, it does the exact opposite - if we did but know it at the time!:o A hospital Dr told me that when I went in for a gynae opp, I didn't believe him, and fool that I was back then, I carried on, even though the op itself would have given me a great kick start. I WISH so much that I had listened to all he said then, but thought he was just trying to get me to quit, full stop. There was me thinking "it's alright for him, he doesn't know how I hard it is." When I did finally kick it I thought of his words so often and soon came to know just how right he was!
Keep hold of that feeling of being liberated Puzzled, once you've got that feeling you're on the right course to being a quitter and staying that way.....a NON-SMOKER at last!!
On behalf of all us quitters: Thanks for the pat on the back for us all Puzzled, it really is the health benefits that far outweigh the cash benefits any day. Now we want them for you and for everyone else in the process of getting their good health back. Keep up the great work Puzzled and keep strong! :j
All the very best!

Morning everyone! Well I'm on day 4 and feeling great! Obviously Saturday night was a disaster but that's in the past! Monday on the way to work I found one in my car and should have chucked it out the window because I leftit there and that's all I could think about all day! Got in my car after work, lit up had two puffs and was nearly sick. It made me feel awfull I threw it right out the window! It was a silly reminder of the poison that these things have in them.
Anyway apart from that idiotic slip up of a couple of puffs, I've not had one since Saturday night. Been putting my five pounds away and have 20 In the bank!
Good luck puzzled and everyone else.
And many thanks sue xx#113 12K in 2020 Challenge #113 £17,103/£12,000 £150000
